New Dragon Age: Inquisition trailer

Despite what a bummer Dragon Age 2 was, despite all the Mass Effect 3 nonsense.... this is still my most anticipated game this year. Bioware-style RPGs are my comfort food; I'm not going to claim they're the greatest games of all time, but Bioware is responsible for some of my favorite game of all time.

I really hope they didn't compromise too much to have it also release on the 360 and PS3.

I do find it interesting that they flat-out call it an action RPG. I forget: Did they call Dragon Age 2 an action-RPG?

Truth. I really really hope this is their return to form.

There was no game play or story showed at all. People are impressed and saying Bioware redeemed because they are using a shiny new engine? Didn't realize it was bad graphics that made their last few games stinkers.

There are already videos out that show gameplay. From what we've seen, it's way more action-based than the previous two games, with combat rolls showing up for one thing. Also, the warrior has basically been given Scorpion's spear (expect a lot of "GET OVER HERE!" jokes).

Now if they get someone who can write a story and characters that don't suck total shit then maybe we can get back to DA:O quality again.

I know that at least Patrick Weekes was brought over to help work on it, so one of their better writers is on it.

So...was that a trailer for a video game or a tech demo for the Frostbite engine? I kid! I'm hyped for DA3.

Their environments look good. Hopefully they can make them more lively too, with more NPCs roaming about. I'm definitely interested in this one.

Was hoping for something a bit more than panning shots through various environments. Probably will look way better when not hindered by youtube compression.

Well, I enjoyed DA2. Needless to say, I am beyond hyped for this. Love pretty much everything Bioware, even their "bad" games. lol

I won't preorder this game but I will buy it at some point. Despite for my ME3 hate in general it did have some good moments after all.

I'm not gonna get hyped.
I'm not gonna get hyped.
I'm not gonna...

Ah fuck it!

I'm riding the hype

I thought this was next-gen only.
Pretty excited for the game, trailer wasn't that great.

I do hope that the exclusive content for each platform will just be items and not quests and the like.

What I fear is that the XB1 version will get a bunch of exclusive quests given how EA has been getting so chummy with MS, while also being the inferior next-gen version.

The nightmare scenario would be platform-exclusive companions.

They've previously said it's a cross-gen game. However, the video description does say "next gen action RPG" so maybe that's changed?

Biowares basically saying, " Hey remember in Dragon Age 2 where you guys didnt like that one place where you were fighting in all the time, well guess what, not in this one. We got a pretty looking world, Biatch."

Wow that looks fucking good. Really, really fucking good. I was completely immersed in those two minutes of footage.

This gen is going to be fucking awesome.

I haven't played either of the previous Dragon Age games, but this trailer has me wanting to pick 'em up.

I've heard good things about the series, but between Mass Effect and a few other RPG's I was juggling I could never make time to play the Dragon Ages.

Worth picking up now, GAF?

Dragon Age: Origins on PC is excellent.

Nah man, they just don't show next-gen deep roads in this one.

:>

First one and the expansion is one of the best RPG games of the previous generation. The sequel? ... less so.

All that while being shackled by last gen versions. Imagine the looks without them... I somewhat even enjoyed DAII so going to preorder this.

Dragon Age: Origins is possibly worth picking up if you can stand the somewhat dated visuals and appreciated some older-school-style mechanics. It's a weird hybrid of the more modern Bioware style and the old Baldur's Gate 2-era Bioware that doesn't necessarily work for every person. I loved it, personally.

Dragon Age 2 is a total skip, unfortunately.

Origins is. Don't bother with DA2

Fantasy WRPGs are turning into car simulators where they are all starting to look the same. If this trailers said Witcher 3 at the beginning or Elder Scrolls i would have believed it.

Very much agree.

I guess I can buy this game if Witcher 3 isn't 1080p with wolf fur on PS4 though. *shrugs*

Get Dragon Age Origins.

2 isn't great, but if you really want to play it go for it. It's more action-y than Origins though and the world is tiny.

I think Bioware was trying to blow me away with how good this game looks graphically. It looks ok. From what I have seen the Witcher looks much better then this.
