Seeing those PGR gifs makes me sad there are no city tracks in this game.
Where has that been confirmed?

Apparently you are the only one. Nothing strange going on to me.I watched those videos and was sure this thread was going to be full of rage about the graphics.
Am i the only one who thinks the lighting is disappointing? There is something strange going on with it. Your headlights kind of pop in, the road ahead (more explicitly the scenery) lights up in chunks rather than from a smooth sweep of the headlights. Plus the other cars lights are mostly faked, they do not light up the surrounds. With 5 cars in front of you your own headlights should not even be needed, but they are.
And those creepy hands...

That looks bloody amazing. And that was with YouTube compression and all.
I feel like you weren't present last gen at all.

To be fair this game has better graphics than any other racer on any platform, I just expected better lighting.
I agree with Sniper Hunter. It's needs more explosions, guns, earthquakes, tsunamis, avalanches, land slides, floods, deforestation drought and starvation. Can you imagine how exciting that would be?!

Demolition, nitros, high speed blur effects, narrow forrest/city tracks, storms, crazy drifting, shaking cam, roaring engines. Stuff like that would make it look less tame, I think Rivals, the only other racer on PS4, has spoiled me because right now Driveclub looks more like a stale Gran Turismo in 30fps with awesome lighting effects. Could be a good thing though depending on your taste. Good thing it's free with PS+ anyhow if the videos are misleading, I'll be there day 1 trying it out for myself instead of just blindly trusting online opinions. It needs at least damage on the car. Not even sparks or scratches when cars hit each other. Lame. Only sparks happen when the car hit the railing.

Yyyyup. Hopefully Evo can talk to Sucker Punch, get some nice Seattle environments in this bitch.Sogood.gif
I'm hoping for cities too. Would be a refreshing contrast.
Not many racing games have that much atmosphere, DC has loads of it, at times it does look like real life.
Sorry if this has been asked before ( I'm sure it has) will we getting better quality video of these clips?.
I thought the YT videos were in 368p until I checked settings and they were in HD..

The locations are pitch black and the only light source are the directional headlights which will bounce of objects stronger that are closer to a vertical plane. Things "popping in" is a realistic representation of night time driving in rural locations.
I love it when people explain something that is both well understood by everyone and totally unrelated to the issue.
I thought about it for a second and I think that publishers sbould really put some effort towards extremely popular sites like IGN to upgrade their players.
This is all advertising after all and Sony, MS, Ubi, Acti... All of them, are advertisers on such sites.
This gen is all about details. Having this bad quality compression is hurting the perception of the titles.
If I was them, I would push such agenda.
Yep completely agree. Atmosphere is a huge thing for me in any game and DC has lots of it.Not many racing games have that much atmosphere, DC has loads of it, at times it does look like real life.
I hate to compare games, but there are a generational leap in lightning and real time reflections between DC and F5. great job evolution
I love it when someone dismisses a response with an obtuse comment without bothering to explain why they think it is wrong
I could sit here and list 30fps racing games better than Forza 5 but I actually want to sleep tonight. 30fps is fine for arcade racers. Also half the framerate. That's something that will always drag this game down.

dat vents. hypnotic.
PBS + driving game rocks.
Somehow, the more i think about it the more i realize that this game has no hook. It's not a sim, it has no burnout like crashes, no police chases no muddy hectic motor storm craziness... I don't even know five other people/friends that have ps4s so the whole club aspect is lost on me.
I really hoped the new vids would hype me up somewhat.
I want to let you know that work is appreciated.I'm seeing jaggies, a lot, for example
Blim explained either here or on another thread that sites like IGN & YT have to serve the widest internet access speed possible for viewing, henc th cruddy quality. There's also a cost by implication (IIRC YT costs google a ton of cash to provide). Having options would be nice tho, and I suspect this will be something that becomes an addressed issue over the next 12-18 months.
Exactly, anyone in the know about framerate knows that 60fps isn't just twice the resources. Its a lot more demanding than running at 30. i don't think this game looks too much better than forza to warrent OMG THIS SMOKES EVERYTHIIING....at 30fps.
