New DriveClub gameplay videos (IGN)

Is it only the players headlights casting shadows on the scenery from other cars, or are all cars doing that?

Gonna need Gamersyde versions of these videos.

I'm sorry, but the lack of 60fps was frustratingly apparent throughout these videos. And for the compromise in framerate, the crispness of the cars felt lacking to me. May be a YouTube compression thing. I'm neither happy nor impressed here, gentlemen.

YouTube is making the IQ look like complete ass. I'm taking GAF's word that this game looks good because I can't tell.

Looks like it. Same with headlights of cars behind, you can see that they cast light on the roadway around you, but not if they are far back in your mirrors. The lighting system is probably on a LOD basis, so cars near you will cast and receive full effects, but in the distance they won't.

They need to throw some sleeves and racing gloves on them arms ASAP.

I was just about to say this. There's no need to go sleeve or gloveless. Hope they'll add those before release.

Everything else looks incredible though. Yhe lighting, the shadows, the reflections, the sense of speed and the motion blur are all top notch.

You can see why they decided to go 30fps based in these vids.

The lighting is very impressive and the environments look pretty good. Not sure what to make of it outside of that.

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO ANTIGUA?

:'(

Antigua?! What? I've been to Antigua. I love Antigua. It's such an odd little paradise. You get to race there? DLC? I need to know! If I could re-visit it in digital form whenever I turn on my PS4 I'll buy anything they throw at me.

Oh, ey, and on topic: the gameplay looks great. Can't wait to play it.

Are we going to have GAF club for this game?
I am a big motorhead and club vs club stuff is making me excited was thinking of creating a club for the hardcore racers so we can dominate the global leaderboard though it might be hard for someone who don't have friends like me >.< lol

Hey let's release the first gameplay footage in close to half a year on IGN's Youtube channel which records game footage with a potato!

Clubs go up to 6 people,so we will see multiple clubs.

6 people per club, so we'll have dozens of GAF clubs.
Which has great potential for weekly GAF tournaments.

Stick all of GAF's racing finest in one club and we might just have a shot at the leaderboards too.

Just grabbed a random segment.

Yep those were my favorite sections. This game, to me at least, really shines in first person view. Stunning

I think it's now obvious why they sacrificed framerate in order to add in all the bells and whistles. Without that road side density of detail, the sense of speed would be lost completely.

This i like very much lol am getting excited even more

I guess it looks visually impressive? I think? Impossible to tell with these videos.

Definitely looks like there is some noticeable aliasing that wasn't present in the release date trailer.

Except they said they had a impressive AA technique they'd been working on iirc. At the end of the day, JAGGIES are shit and ruin the IQ on any game. We've waited an extra 8 months and I expect this to be sorted by release or I won't be buying a full price. End of.
Posts like this crack me up.

Excited as hell. This seems to be exactly what I want in a racing game. Great replay value, great sense of speed, on-point controls, clubs and custom avatars/liveries, and stunning graphics. Looking forward to racing with/against all of you!

Graphically, it looks phenomenal. Something looks off about the physics though, especially in that second video. It doesn't look like you're even remotely punished for your screw-ups during a race.

The game looks amazing!

But I can't understand why Evo put their first gameplay footage in months on IGN youtube channel. The compression is so bad that even the IGN logo is a mess.

IGN + Youtube = compression nightmare

Yes, GAF club vs. club races will be amazingly fun.

The day to night transitions are way too quick in the second video. It turns from dawn to dusk in about 5 seconds...

Looks really weird.

Well clearly they've set the cycle to be quick to show what it looks like during both day and night. The user can do that too, as well as make it a 24 hour clock cycle.

Yep. I hope there is a good amount of asynchronous competing as well as live. For those of us in a the "Adult With Kids" clubs.

I always viewed their Motorstorm RC as a proof of concept small game, so I expect in the same vein that the challenge part of Driveclub to be designed for asynchronous competition.

It'll be fun to have a high beam and a horn option (high beams take priority). Night races will be awesome blinding people going into corners
