New Driveclub Update + free dlcs

I said it before and I'll say it again, they should've released the PS+ edition on the 1st like every other PS+ game instead waiting till launch day. They could've caught the bug right then and delayed the main game until it was under control. But because they though PS+ version would eat into the actual sales so they waited until the launch day and it backfired. It would've been perfect as both demo and beta test but no, they wanted more sales.

The beta played absolutely fine!

Was really hoping for weather but never mind as this is pretty good news. I know that people have quite rightly complained about the online stuff but for me it's been an amazing driving.

Then they would have had 7 million ps+ members pissed the game was broken, and they'd never come back, at least by holding it back, they can release a working game to those 7m people.

I don't know why, but i was expecting a different, stronger message for this update after the long silence. How about saying that the game will indeed be fixed and work as advertised after the update? Will it ever be fixed at all? Do we care about DLC when the core game isn't working? I certainly don't, to be honest. Neither do i care about getting one DLC "pack" for free as compensation.

And what about fixing the dreadful AI? And where are the replays? Games have been doing replays for eons yet Evolution is not capable of implementing this at launch. I'd put replays far above photomode in a car game.

If Evolution wants to give their game a second chance, they will have to come up with a stronger plan to lure people back in (if that is even possible).

This is cool news, I haven't got the season pass yet, so this will be a nice taster. Not sure anymore 'compensation' is required, at least I don't feel aggrieved given I play the game everyday, although I would like challenges to work soon

That's cool, I appreciate the update. Picked it up last week on the understanding that this would get sorted in the interim - but if it's on the 18th, I'm going to be fully stuck into GTA V. Sigh.

This.

I'm sure this will still capture a big chunk of the racer enthusiast market, but I for one went from a strong 70% interest in the game leading up to launch to a 5% interest level (note a +/-5% margin of error). I had the impulse to ahead and pay for the full version of the game there at the beginning, but that passed, and now a couple of hours with the PS+ version of the game is the best they'll get out of me.

I really do hope the whole development team doesn't get thrown under the bus for this one, or at the very least it doesn't hurt too many individuals' chances at a new gig down the road.

It might work out better that way. Play GTA for a few weeks, then the weather update hits Driveclub in December and you can get the *full* experience

Man I haven't even got all the current stuff downloaded yet. Nice gesture though.

I'm guessing we're going to get a mix of great images with photmomode and a heap from people trying to find the ugliest shot possible.

Man I remember the great war of Forza 3 vs GT5 as enacted via cherry picked images.

Maybe something like releasing a decent portion of the game for free to 7-8 million people? So that they can try it, and if they like it they can upgrade at a reduced cost...? And if they don't, that's fine, just play the free portion online and single player..

They should probably just make the PS+ version the entire game at this point. Take a sales hit for a player-base bonus. Show people the game is good, get people excited for a sequel and then hope people buy the sequel.

Or release the sequel for free as a F2P with car packs, track & event packs, etc... since people are used to the game being free after getting the first one free.

If they drop the price of the season pass they fuck over the season pass buyers. I don't like season passes at all, but it comes with the territory. So they'd either have to extend the benefits of the season pass that people have already paid full price for, or extend those buyers some pro-rated refunds.

I think offering some free DLC while also extending the season pass so it hasn't lost any content is a nice way to strike a balance. But that's just one opinion.

They can refund season pass buyers. It's not like there aren't alternatives to that scenario. They've chosen the path of less financial burden by throwing out some free DLC as an apology, all the while continuing to sell the game and racking in money from bundles, digital sales, etc.

Well it is a month's worth of DLC. And the issues there have been are not worth sending them to the wall over, at least they're working to fix them and things have been improving.

For all the connectivity issues the game works very well. It's not as though car are dropping through the floor or flying off into space. I've actually played online with this game, something I don't normally bother doing.

It is a well crafted game and the single player portion is fantastic, but that doesn't excuse releasing a broken game and then taking over a month to fix it with barely any real communication throughout that time.

What are your expectations from 343, since Halo: MCC didn't launch as promised?

If it had issues for the same length of time and they were trying to sell a season pass. I'd expect exactly the same.

The current issues are inexcusable for MCC and anyone who isn't happy should demand a refund. I also think that 343 should do something for those who bought the game after it's fixed. Not sure what that might as the game won't have any DLC or a season pass.

the timing is pretty bad but I think the game continue to evolve
when Japan and weather hits I will alway give it a few hours when I am not collecting cars in GTA

I'm inclined to hold out for the inevitable complete edition with all DLC on disc. Don't like the idea of having to wait for and download a game changer like dynamic weather. Shoudve been included day 1... so I'll make it my day 1.

So, beyond refunds for the game and the season pass, which we both agree are a given and not a bonus, you also want them to make the season pass and its six month schedule of content development free to those who already have the game? That seems to me like a hell of a lot to ask for.

If you're fed up, get a refund and get all of your money back. That's completely reasonable. Beyond that I don't know how people come to the figure of how much money or content they're owed, and at least for my part I saw the free DLC pack as a nice extra.

Unless there's a common spreadsheet I'm missing that correlates weeks of patching to DLC value owed to customers.

Let me just say I have been able to connect to one race tonight, and the past half hour has been wasted by trying to connect, getting matchmaking errors and restarting the game.

Also archived in streams on Ustream as I was planning to stream some Driveclub footage. Oh well back to another game.

I've never understood the rationale behind demanding more free stuff from someone already struggling to recover, so I guess I have nothing to add in this heated debate.

I just want the damn game to work 100% so that I can get back to playing it regularly.

Don't bother. Some people are never satisfied with whatever they may get.

I'm not seeing anybody demand anything. I just see people who are dissapointed in the whole way this situation has been handled.

I appreciate all their hard work though. But still, I think a free dlc pack isnt enough when I cant even get into races a month later.

I'll still pick up the season pass but eh.

They deserve zero slack. Game was delayed for a year.

For totally different reasons then this server bug?

Game is worth it. Buy the game and try out the November DLC for free which will give you a feel for what value the season pass will be for you

Thanks. I may still wait for Tuesday's patch and see if it fixes a lot. If it does, then I'll jump in and get it for $50 for the digital version.

Do you have any word NAT issues or, I don't even know what...man that sucks, it's like you never improved at all since day 1

I haven't played much but there is much to look forward to with this game. I'm also holding off until I can get the real experience but I feel fully compensated with news of the free DLC. I'm tempted to purchase the season pass, I was prior to launch, but especially now with this news that it will be extended.

I feel for the people at Evo and Sony.. Its a great game that I hope they will get to post positive public updates about very soon in the future, it will deserve that and I hope they eventually will.

Fantastic that they are addressing feedback on the penalty and collision systems. Hopefully bugs like the average speed hacks will be addressed in the near future.

I dont have any issues with other games so it's not on my end.

The other day I was racing for a long time online in a row though.

I think it has to do with how many people are online probably.

Some people are just ridiculous.

Even if Sony gave them there 70$ back and the Season Pass for free they would be hating. I can`t understand such people. Everyone gets some nice DLC for free. What more can you expect? Even if they messed up, they won`t and can`t work for free a whole year. If you aren`t happy just ask for a refund and please go away and hate the next game for giving you something for FREE.

In situations like this, it doesn't matter what they would offer - it wouldn't be enough for some people. Are people able to get refunds on the digital version? Just let people get their money back.

I've been wanting to buy this. Sounds like now might be the time.

A discount on the season pass for people who bought the game perhaps?

I feel like this is like hey here's a bone for your troubles.

What was this dlc pack going to cost seperately is what I'm curious about.

EEithr way I feel like it's lacki in communication that has hurt the appeal of this game for me the most. I see what 343I is doing with Halo MCC and it looks a lot better to be honest. Stinkles still posts here from time to time and Rushy is nowhere to be seen, not even on Twitter.

I know they got a shitload of hatefull stuff swung at them through social media but come on, at least post on Gaf or something.

Now I love this game but how is there no private lobby's or something of the like? The core game is amazing it's just very barebones in features. No replay mode, no private lobby's for racing against other clubs. No good playlists online or anything. No good way to set up racing with your mates honestly.

When I think back to that first presentation it was all about racing with your mates. Well I really can't if I can't even set up a private lobby or something of the like.

Let me give you a little hint: When someone, more than likely someone who possibly frequents GAF or another board, call you names, your family names, tells you your game is shit, your life is shit, you are shit, and then never stops trolling you on Facebook or twitter until you delete them.... yeah man. I wouldn't come back here either.

In GAF's defense this site has been pretty good besides some seriously shameless namecalling here and there.

Can I ask GAF to do something?: Please go to Amazon and at least give this game a decent review if you love and appreciate the hard work that went into this game. Amazon is currently dominated by 1 star Forza and teenager trolls.

Yep, and they give gamers in general a bad name. Go to Amazon and look at some of those people. Metacritic too. These teenagers and morons do nothing but reflect badly on gamers. No reasonable adult acts like these people do.

I'm in for 75 dollars on this game. I too was disappointed. But the hissy fits I have seen are just borderline pathetic at this point.
