New Driveclub Update + free dlcs

Yeah, this stuff is getting ridiculous. I understand some people have problems. There is enough content to satisfy me here and the DLC is going to be huge in the end. Going to be quite a big game by this time next year. I am sure it will do well in the end. Some people I tell ya.
 
Well this was the issue:@ There was months of load testing, stress testing & beta testing - the problem is the amount & complexity of social data

US, EU or UK?

If you're the latter two, you could probably take it back to the store and get a full refund or store credit. Tell them the game isn't working, point out the sites where the problems are listed and you should be able to return it without too much hassle.

Not sure how it works in the US, maybe the same? I'd definitely try to get my money back wherever you're based, releasing a game with those kinds of issues is completely unacceptable, especially when that game is supposed to be one of the biggest releases of the holiday period.

for what it's worth, i just bought a ps4 and driveclub like 6 hours ago, and i've been able to get online and do some MP races on my first few tries.

we'll see how the weekend goes
 
Clearly, game isn't perfect yet. But it's decent. And after the next patch I reckon it should have a lively base to work on.

By New Year this game is going to be very hard to resist for any racing fan on PS4 IMO.

I feel it's worth the money, as long as you're not going to start bitching about problems you already know about. The core of the game is solid, the driving is great and the graphics amazing. However things like challenges and the online are very hit and miss, sometimes they work, other times they don't. I don't think you can send challenges yet, this hasn't been working since I bought the game. But it's certainly not affected my enjoyment of the game to any great degree.

If you like driving games and are happy to be frustrated some times by the connection, then grab it, it's brilliant.

Yeah so far in my 2 days of playing the game the biggest issue I've had has been slow loading leaderboards and some in race challenges that are impossible to beat.

The actual racing is really fun and there seems to be plenty of races to go through as it is.

Online was literally not working for me at all for the first few weeks. I'm just saying day one people should get something extra compared to someone who guys and buys the game now. It's about getting good will back for Evolution, rather than me caring for compensation. The outlook for them seems not so good after this poor launch.

Sub-par is relative to your system of critique I guess. Yes, photomode needs intense supersampling no doubt. It will get it. Evo has to know this.

But I think overall, racing, IQ in DC is actually very good for what is going on minus some fender stuff and sub-pixel stuff.

To me it sounds like anyone who bought the game will get it, so you could buy the game today and get the free DLC.

Evolution aren't exactly in the same position as EA - they are hardly comparable.
 
So what about people scammed into buying PS+ subscription in October? When will Sony issue them refunds or other form of compensation for falsely advertising Driveclub as part of the Instant Game Collection?

They both released broken products that are still broken today, only difference is that EA have had it broken nearly a year now and have offered nothing.

At least Evolution are offering something as a way of apology. I don't get people thinking that they deserve a season pass just because something wasn't working the way they intended. They didn't plan for it to be broken.

That's an interesting question that was brought up before. Sony could be expected to compensate those that purchased it solely for that, BUT if Sony can see you've been playing online then really, you deserve nothing because to play online you NEED to have PS+ regardless of if Driveclub launched or not if you want to play online you have to pay the money anyway.

I'm not saying we deserve it, I'm saying they need to do better in a bid to get good will back.

EA is a massive company and Battlefield is an established IP with a big fanbase. The knew they people were going to keep playing and probably buy BF5 anyway. Evolution are struggling (from what I've read), don't have nearly the same size following and DC is a new IP.

I have an annual subscription so it doesn't really concern me, but I don't think that playing online removes any responsibility from Sony and you have every right to demand refund. Let's put it this way: if I bought a TV that was advertised as 50" and it turned out to be 30", the fact that I turned it on and watched some programmes doesn't mean I can't get a refund.

Like what?

They already are adding free content in photo mode, weather (probably the best weather ever), and monthly cars and tracks, are giving early owners an additional DLC, giving season pass holders additional content, updating the game to address player concerns and then they will have online working 100 percent and will release the ps+ at some point which should further bolster the overall community size (it seems healthy though)
 
Sounds lovely. While I await the new content and weather update, I've been doing all manor of TT's lighting up the leaderboards. Also, doing 10 lap races with Legend A.I...it's truly extraordinary! The sense of speed and excitement for the whole 10 laps is just nuts! White knuckle ride...feels so good doing all 10 laps without putting a foot wrong! Great for racking up lots of points!

Even with all the issues, DC is right up there with the very best racers that have ever been.

Half of that stuff should have been in the game from the start. Photo mode = free content? Really? More like a late inclusion that should have been included from day one. Saying they'll release the PS+ edition "at some point" is actually a negative, considering it's been almost 2 months and they can't even give a date yet. The game doesn't even have replays :/

I doubt this will even do much now that it's mid November and a ton of other games are out.
 
Despite all the frustrating issues and buying the physical copy at launch, I have still kept the game even though I was so tempted to sell it. I decided I will see this game through to the end. I hope everything works out for Evolution. I fell bad for them.

Exactly. I keep wondering what the year long delay was for when the most BASIC features still have to be patched in later... I mean seriously... How is REPLAY not included at launch??

We talkin' bout REPLAY.

1 month & 1 week is "almost 2 months" nowadays? They've still got 3 weeks before 2 months has passed from DC's release. They'll delay the PS+ Edition for as long as they need to. It would help absolutely no one if they released it now when they still aren't completely in the clear in regards to the online problems. It would probably break the online portion to an unplayable state to (almost) everyone like during the launch week, which would not only make people who actually paid for the game suffer more, but also not give PS+ people the best experience DC can offer.

How is weather still not in the game, it was like one of their major goddamn selling points. Weather weather weather. Hey guys look how awesome our weather is, its dynamic, its in the volumetric clouds, we put all this shit into how it'll play out......oh but yeh it wont be in the game till we patch it in some time later.

What?

I het they are probably more focussed on getting the online components sorted out but how it was never included in the final game just baffles me given they were showing it off for months.

Dynamic weather was never even going to be in the game at launch, and was clearly stated as so. Having said that, I'm expecting Rushy's first-born in the mail soon as my compensation....

They talked about their dynamic cloud system & day/night cycle at the beginning, weather like raining & snowing wasn't advertized early on, it was more of a vague "rain & snow would be cool but it's not in at the moment" kind of answer to anyone who might've asked about it that could've meant anything from a patch to them only trying to make it happen in a possible sequel.

They always said that raining & snowing would be patched by the end of 2014 and that's still the plan, no need to go full-blown drama queen about them still being on schedule.

Seeing how the prices for used and bundle copies of this game are at rock bottom on ebay I might pick this up instead of waiting for the PS+ version to hit. Seen some copies go for £10-15 over the last couple of days which seems worth it despite the issues.

I'd wait for a discount to be honest. It's a great game but the multi is still on and off, so there's only single player tour events.

Again, we talkin' bout replay.....Even Motorstorm had a replay going right after you finished a race....If your game is delayed a full year and you still can't add a way to view a replay of a race in a racing game, then you should be doing something else.

Sorry but they answered this stuff and were clear about it ... This stuff wasn't supposed to be in the initial package . Now you've got 2 things to do .
You either buy the game knowing that those features ( because they are ) will be added later or you don't buy and wait for those features .

why should i care about replay , really ? You can already record your race if you like and share it ... Isn't that the point of replay , to see your race again ?
Don't get me wrong , i know it's not exactly the same ...but acting like there is a huge demand when you can record your play and share it is kinda not that great

Volumetric clouds are in the game ..it's very easy to see them or their effects on lightning on the norway stages or the canada stages.
It's part of why the game looks at good too.
