New El Shaddai Trailer - Woah

Definitely can feel the Okami art design and style oozing from this game. Looks absolutely amazing.

I'm not really sure what to make of the combat...

Regardless, MOAR!

If anyone is familiar with the Monster Hunter series, then you should expect a stellar soundtrack for this game. It'll undoubtedly be amazing.

Huh? They can't mean Hiroyuki Kobayashi so is it Atsushi Inaba?

Anyway the game fantastic art direction and presentation, but I'm not sold on the gameplay or Ignition.

The producer is Masato Kimura.

I thought this game looked awful and sounded awful but in motion... jesus. It is stunning!

I mean the main character still looks beyond words terrible, but that's about it. Which makes me wonder if the main character was designed by a completely different person than every other aspect of the art.

In motion the game looks like transcendence, like I just went through the rabbit hole and am speaking to God over a wave of LSD. The acid burned ruins, the incredible use of color and light... I am seriously thinking of starting my shroom crop again just for this game.

Like I said in the other thread, it looks incredibly beautiful and reminds me a lot of Another World on the SNES, 'cept a little prettier.

That was one of the most tripped out game trailers I have seen, the art direction looks great. I will be willing to keep an eye out for it in the future though I am not feeling the biblical story much to be honest.

The visual style is pretty impressive, the gameplay seems the average GOW/DMC type game, meh.

I suppose giving it a Jewish mythological twist is different to Greek mythology.

You said you were going to be sarcastic in all caps so were you being sarcastic about being sarcastic and you really think we are beautiful and intelligent? Thank you.

Wheels within wheels, jay.

Looks great. I know the game is early so I won't harp on the combat too much except to say I hope they add in some visual effects when characters hit each other because it feels a bit antiseptic at the moment.

Also, I'm not enamored with the protagonist's face design. Looks a bit bland amidst a sea of amazing and inventive art direction.

Also, to those saying the protagonist's looks stupid at least it looks unique and not the kind of thing you'd forget or mistake for something else.

Looks absolutely stunning, but I get the feeling this may end up like Fragile on the Wii (how many people just thought "What's that?") in that it looks amazing but is a terrible videogame, and will probably not sell too well due to that.

Would not be the first time I've purchased something just based on the art style. Here's hoping the bosses are fun.

I'm assuming someone has already said how much it looks like Okami? Looks loverly though, maybe a tad bland. Might be a bit too Japanese for me (I'm not a raging Xenophobe, I just don't understand Eastern games a majority of the time. They go straight over my head!)

There is some sort of confusion going on with this game...I don't know what the real story is, but 1up's article on this said it was being developed by Clover. Clover no longer exists, and was part of Capcom. Most of the talent from Clover went to Platinum Games.

According to IGN this is published by and developed by Ignition. Apparently, the game's Director and Producer though both formerly worked at Capcom and Clover having worked on games like Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe and Okami. I have no idea what their roles were on those games.

At first I thought it looked pretty meh.... but hopefully the ex-clover guys can spice it up.

Art style is alright, but the gameplay needs work.

This could really go either way for me. Some shots, like the side-scrolling section in the gif above, look great, and I do get see the (favorable) comparisons to Nier. Other things, like the battles that take place in a nowhere-zone, look cheap and terrible. There's stylishly abstract, and then there's environments that feel empty. Yeah, I know, "not representative of final product", and it does look slightly less like a student project than the first screens/video, but this game is TBA 2010/2011? And they showed it in a state like this at E3?

Lotta work to be done there.

Looks like a bad translation from the trailer. At the end he says "it's been a while, enoch" but the translation just says "what brings you?" It doesn't give any indication that they've met before.

Panzer Dragoon Orta
Moebius
Killer 7
Watercolour
Heavenly Sword
The Bible
Prince Of Persia
Japanese Design at its best

... some of the thoughts while watching the video...

How is Ignition developing a game? Their localizations are shit.

The art style is interesting, but I wonder how fun it'll be to actually play.

They had like 4-5 trailers at E3, and the convention was plastered with posters of Enoch w/ a pronounced bulge.

Some of the other trailers focus more on the cellphone-toting pre-fall Lucifer, Enoch's guide through his journey.

Talked to Shane about it a bit - minor combat takes place in the game world, but more important encounters take place in Okami foldspace.

It should be playable at TGS, but the vibe I'm getting is... Okami Tensei Gaiden.

The really should just call it "Eyegasm: Something Something Bible Something" in the U.S.

They have three internal studios: one in the UK, one in Florida and one in Tokyo. This, obviously, is the Tokyo production.
