New Famitsu Scores

Wow, Famitsu gave Sword of Mana a 9/8/8/8 (33/40)?! If these Children of Mana scores are real then it's REALLY bomba! :lol

In other news (this is ALSO *cough*notconfirmed*cough*) it seems Famitsu GC has reviewed CoM too:

8/8/9/7

The score they gave Sword of Mana was: 7/9/9/9

While it isn't the score I was hoping for, I'm still planning on getting Children of Mana. It's just too damn beautiful to pass up.

WTF at the SoM scores?! Fuck that. I'll try CoM out for myself.

DDS1 and 2 scored around 32/33s which is the normal area for rpgs. This is kinda low.

Seems the complaints were mainly high encounter rate + they didn't like the real-time action of the battle system.

Not to mention DDS is quite different from the previous Summoners, but shit, real-time action is also quite different from the prior Summoners.
And it's not like DDS1/2 were exactly low on encounter rates though. :P

Wait, does CoM have multiplayer? And if it does how much does that play into the game?

Their opinion is of no worth on Mana games.

Yeah, to be honest the load times in DS PS2 look instant; even faster than DDS. In that case I really don't mind a high encounter rate.

I'd guess it probably got dinged a few for having pre-rendered backgrounds in this day and age as well.

I was never too excited about COM, but if the GAF consensus winds up being positive, then I might try it out. What was the score for Slime Mori Mori?

Has there been any word of a US release for Devil Summoner?
Bebpo, you getting this? I could use your impression on it before I throw down the bones for it. Assuming no US release word.

It's so beautiful. How could it turn out to be awful? :(

That's not true, two sevens are never acceptable by Famitsu standards.

Well, just to be a devil's advocate:

I was more excited about this game than almost any other RPG. More than Final Fantasy, more than Breath of Fire, more than Tales of Destiny. I was SO disappointed...

...but it was so... so beautiful....

And Lenneth isn't going to be reviewed just like how Suikoden I+II weren't reviewed just like how Breath of Fire 3 wasn't reviewed...because they are just ports. No point in reviewing them.

yet they reviewed Monster Hunter...

I dunno...demand? Monster Hunter was some kind of a big deal on PSP. These other games are just straight PS1 ports. Nothing added mostly, nothing changed. Heck Lenneth seemed like they didn't even redo the menus in high-res font.

2d vs. 3d? Who knows...

It's surely not moneyhats, I mean the game isn't gonna sell over 100k anyhow. I doubt they care.

Of course. Atlus R&D1 = Best rpg company this gen. I'll be there day1 and give the heads up.

Yeah...the prerendered backgrounds are an odd design choice for R&D1...even their PS1 games were mostly real-time rendered. I wonder if they're trying to get away from the grid-based dungeons that SMT has traditionally used and adapt a more modern approach. That will be fine with me as long as the dungeons keep their twisty character and epic lengths.

More unconfirmed news: Xenosaga Ep3 ED song = KOTOKO? :D

Seriously!? Pretty darn cool if true, but I dunno how well a Kotoko song would fit with a Xeno game, or at least how I think a Xeno game should be made... "a whole new Xenosaga experience" wasn't that what Sora said? If nothing else, Kotoko new song GET!!

Actually I think they're just trying to save as much money as possible like every other small rpg developer these days while sales keep dropping. ^^; Plus they did this game rather quickly as their main priority atm is probably the upcoming SMT4.

Children of Mana's score isn't that bad loozers.

i cant believe all these people who defend a 30 famitsu score with two 7's.

if you think the score is wrong then thats one thing (a ds ame that doesnt train anything?! 7!) but to defend a 30 as a good or even "not bad" score is pretty futile.

What was wrong with SoM btw?

I don't understand the dislike for it, I actually enjoyed it (from what I remember of it). Though, it DOES kinda feel like a Saga game...so...yeah...

>_>

I tried to warn you guys about CoM. Even though it was beautiful, so was Sword of Mana for GBA and they screwed that up too.

Er, 2 different developers. Brownie Brown developed SoM (which is based off an old mediocre game anyhow). Next Entertainment developed CoM with a bunch of original Seiken Densetsu staff members at the helm (Kouichi Ishii, Masato Kato, Kenji Ito).

Famitsu reviewed Tales of Eternia (PSP) too...and that really is a straight port (which sold >200k anyway).

I'm dissapointed with many scores....I still believe in Devil Summoner but those Children of Mana scores coming from S-E...after FF7:DoC...ufff.

Well...will FFXII get the damn 40/40 for PS2? ><
