Just to let all you guys know once more cause I can.... None of you ever beat the champ at Fight Night 3 when we had the GAF tourney.

I still got the muthafucking belt! :lol I don't think Kinesis, Flo Evans, JuanMR2 and some others ever recovered to make it back in the ring!

well START THAT SH!T UP AGAIN!!!!!

*drives to friend's house to pick up my game*

for PS3 rite?

game definately needs an overhaul from the last one, but even if it played the same Tyson's presence would tempt me to pick it up. Here's hoping its faster, controls smoother and more responsive and not as clunky as the last game.

Everything they've said so far makes it seem like it's gonna be sped up. Round 3 was too slow, especially compared to the previous Fight Night games.

The only thing they haven't talked a lot about is improving the footwork by, uh, adding it. Saying that a full punch range matters and things like that lead me to believe they're going to make outboxing an option here.

That's a RIDICULOUS ass. Maybe better than mine.

doesn't mean you can't show us a larger pic of Dolphin girl......:D

about the PS3 version... EA Canada worked wonders for their first PS3 game.... I hope they can do it again...

I hope its alot better than the leaked video which looked terrible. Id rather have limited punches that are stiff and with weight behind them, than loose flailing arms all over the place.

This could be the 'Skate' of boxing. Which makes me very happy.

I think I just farted a happy cloud.

Sup with your tag, "lolPhins" Fins fan? ;)

Anyways, when we say EA Canada, are we talking like EA Big SSX team, or what? I really hope that they kept some of the Ea Chicago people for this game, not that I doubt the new team, I just think Round 3 did a couple of things very well, and they shouldn't just throw it out the window. As it stands today, even with exploits and all, it round 3 stands as a very deep online game, with lots of strategy and skill. They need to improve on this and keep adding on the depth, and this game will be truly awsome.

and here you go the official ASS of the Miami Dolphins!

Fight Night is one of the greatest sports games that came out of EA. They are great games to even play with friends. If it is even better then round 3 this game will be win.

Face button punchers are weak.

Real men use the sticks.

Funny how face button punchers are weak and analog punchers are better....because?? EA has made some stupid way of throwing punches with the analog stick as if it resembles anything close to throwing a punch. It's retarded and I have more fun throwing with the buttons. If you feel that's unfair, then why use the analog only? Use the option you feel the best at! That's like playing an FPS with a controller and saying that people who use a keyboard and mouse are weak because it's better. Use what you like! Fuck the sticks!

And it's not because you can "mash the buttons" because like in any fighting game, if you get beat by a button masher...well you deserve to get beat.

Yup, fixed. I didn't write this write up, just sharing it with everyone!

They will 99% sure have Pacman. But I'm still holding out on Money Mayweather. THEY BETTER HAVE PBF!

WHO IS THAT IN YOUR AVATAR?

So you're not a real man.

You know why?

Because real men use sticks.

Stick controls are the best thing that happened to boxing games since ever. Like the stick controls in Skate, they are the main reason the game was so great. Really rejuvenated the genre for me.

LOL, Well you're a whiner then. I'd like to see you challenge any top fighter online and tell them they aren't men for using only the sticks. It's important to use a combination of both the buttons and the sticks, maybe you don't understand that. There's a clear benefit to using the sticks, because they increase the strength of the punch the more you draw the stick back. But for quick combos after a parry, the only way to fire them off is the buttons. What's wrong with getting quick combos in? I work my jab with the Y button because it's less annoying than having to flick the stick every time. Using the sticks can sometimes leave you vulnerable to shots or a big parry if you throw a big punch. I'm glad the sticks help you to enjoy the game, maybe you're not a competitive player, if you were, you'd understand the benefits of both.

Somebody! Challenge me online "the305base" Please! I'm waiting!!

Having Mike Tyson in the game is fun and all. But I really would like to have Mike Tyson actually fighting like he does. The trailer sure as hell didn't give that impression, which worried me a bit. Boxers actually need to react as if they are being hit by Tyson. I'm expecting SFIV faces here.

Are there any hands ons yet?

Thinking about it, it would be great if they made a "Skate 2" and lowered the graphics a bit so that they could achieve 60 fps.

Not really sure I like the models, will have to see them in motion.

But the positioning in those shots looks really promising. The addition of footwork and inside fighting will really change the game. For the better/more realistic, hopefully. Awesome.

I may have to get some cobwebs out of my game, but yeah, I'm down whenever to play. FN3 is the main game I bought a 360 for.

I'm definitely on the side of playing with the stick(man), when it comes to the stick vs. buttons(girly-man) conversation. This discussion--if you can call it that--seems to always pop up when ever anyone brings up Fight Night, so I don't want to go down that road. I just think that EA needs to stick with their formula and continue to improve on what the series has done right. So far it looks like they're headed in the right direction.

Well, I'm not sure why they would want to just get rid of the parry system alltogether, I thought it was pretty balanced. Other than that it all sounds AWesome! The lack of way too many great fighters from R3's roster was probably my biggest complaint and now they're going to have 40+? Can't wait.

Edit: Tyson! His special better be a bite to the cranium... it makes too much sense.

Uhhh...I've never seen FNR3 look like that? Is that ps3 or something? And if his face looked like that I think the fight would have been stopped already :lol

Oh well then that looks pretty damn good! Round 3 is a great looking game. BUt you can tell in that screen shot one of my major complaints with the graphics, and that is the lighting. No boxing fight is ever held in the freaking dark like Fight Night, the arena is always very bright with big spotlights. From the new screens, it seems like they might have fixed this, as the lighting seems more in line with what you would see on TV, but we'll have to wait and see.

This was the same problem I had, and still have with NBA Live. The lighting is terrible, and 2k9 pretty much completely fixed it.

Kinda looks the same, which is ok. If they fixed the animations it would be perfect. I'm not anticipating that, though. :/

Watch the vid above you. It gets darker on purpose.

The main complaint of the PS3 version was pretty much everything but the boxers. The environment just didn't look as good as the 360 version.

I'm super hyped about this game. Definately getting it day one.

I understand why the screen is getting darker, that's not what I meant. On 360 as well, the lighting is just too dark, it looks nice, but it doesn't look quite like what we see on TV.

For example

large_fight45.jpg

This is the kind of lighting we see in real fights, and I think it would look amazing if they can capture the proper crowd and ring lighting as well. From the new screens, it seems like they might do just that. The crowd is way too dark in FNR3

and here's an example of the new physics engine :lol

do you really need more light in the background so you can see the same 20 low poly spectators animating in unison? I'd rather have it dark like FN3 and have the dev work go into the boxers.

No, instead put some actual work into the crowd, and don't make them go up and down in unison. It shouldn't be so hard to make a decent looking crowd. The crowd is not even what I want, I just want the lighting in the ring to look the way it does on TV. They could keep the lighting on the crowd still somewhat dark, but just make the lighting realistic. They've already said there will be more activity on the apron, meaning more people walking in and around the ring, before, during and after the fights. I'm sure they are heading in the right direction.

I wonder if they will put in some calzaghe style point whoring that seemingly a couple over the hill pugilists are fond of adopting these days.
Oooh... now there's a post dripping with bitterness. :lol

We really need to see some proper HD gameplay trailers to judge how the game looks and feels. That leaked GS footage and those screens are like a tease.

oh man, Ricky.

Hope there's some nice counter action going on in FN4, I'm rather happy they've done away with the stiff and gamey parry mechanic.

I think the parry mechanic should be in there in some form, because it does exist in boxing. However it should be much more a matter of timing than simply holding a direction for the block. For example if you hold a certain direction, and the opponent hits it, it will just simply be a block. But if you throw that directional block with quick timing at the same time they throw the punch, then you would have landed a succesful parry that must be countered immediately. None of those overlong parry's where your guy just stands there for 1 or 2 seconds. A quick parry I can see working, definately could add depth and skill. They just need to find a right balance.

Agreed.

Yeah, it says they didn't remove it completely, but added weight and timing to the calculated result (as far as I understood). Trying to parry a really powerful hook with the wrong timing can (and should) be devastating.

But the existing parry mechanic where you can hold parry as long as you want to just wait for the punch isn't too great, so I'm glad they're changing it.
