New Final Fantasy XV key visual

Fierce opposing a corporation vs a prince in an early 2000s goth industrial cloth about to get shot
One is from the 90s and is a cherished title for many many gamers who will defend it to the end of their lives vs a new title that is coming out with half the population (exaggeration!) opposing it. Nostalgia will do wonders to anyone.

The poster makes it look like they're actually leading the invasion force (or defense force since they're still within the city, so plausibly these would be their defensive forces).

The guns are even pointed at people in front of them.

Purple ninja with oversize sword thinking of joining a factory job vs prince and princess making a stand against soldiers.

I can do that too.

We must be seeing different pictures

They're right. It's reminiscent of VIII in a way I can't put my finger on. It's not in your face but it's there:

Also has XII vibes:

I prefer the latter.

To go on-topic, this key visual definitely feels lot more "final fantasy" to me, than the previous ones. It's definitely lot better than the western cover visual, that was really bad.

Gorgeous! So reminiscent of FFXII as mentioned. It's not often that Breath of the Wild isn't my desktop background.... but for a while this will take its place!

Okay, this actually gets me hyped. I've been super down on this game but that art is beautiful. <3 would make a good cover actually.

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
Amusing. Almost as if we had seen things of note from Luna so far enough for her to be pushed in this manner on the level of the MC.

Hopefully in the game she has a decent role beyond what we've seen.

I think some of these artworks/trailers work well when they paint a different picture than what we would typically expect. I think this is one of those examples. It's so good.

Almost makes it look like the game has an interesting and varied party
They're allowed to have a game every once in a while that has a tight focused group. I love the variety other final fantasy games presented but the story shown to us so far goes with the theme of these four and what you are asking for would go against this. We'll still see many interesting and varied characters throughout the game with hopefully more depth with each of the four characters since they are able to focus more on the development rather than just throwing a character in for variety sake.

TLDR; stop. Get off the internet.

*sigh* this makes me wish Luna was in your party. That trident is just badass. I would have taken a game like XIII-2 with just two party members :p

I wonder how long ago the "look" for Final Fantasy became pasty/pale soft characters. I was really shocked when the FFIV remake came out and they had those pale feminine renders of everybody, especially Cecil with the purple lipstick. I always pictured him more rough.

Anyways, it is what it is. I'm still hoping we eventually get to play as "Punished" Noctis.

I really wish Cor was a playable character. He's got my favorite design of all the dudes I've seen from this game. The Villain looking guy is alright too.

I really like a lot of the female designs, just not Luna. That girl with the flat bangs looks great.

Since the very beginning of the series.

Amano's original design for Paladin Cecil have always pictured him with the blue lipstick, for example.

And here's Bartz/Butz from Final Fantasy V.

It's funny, but actually the characters actually look more masculine since Nomura took over.

Interesting. You have to at least admire that they've stuck to Amano's vision of the characters then.

The beauty of pixel art and low poly graphics was that we could embed our imagination into the character. Imagine their voice and their look more deeply through filling in the blanks with out imagination.

We will never get that back unless they do a 16-bit/32-bit FF again.
