New Gears of War 4 Campaign Gameplay

Environmental weather/storm effects looks really damn good. Imagine if Scorpio was the target and not X1....

Can only imagine how it would look at 1440p/4K on PC. Looks good to me, Day 1.

Did you leave it on to the tornado? Because up to then I was a bit.... meh... but I think the tornado was one of the most impressive things I have seen.

The weather affects were cool but the rest seemed to be nothing special.

Yeah, it's pretty bland in terms of environmental detail. Particle effects are all really unimpressive (blood and the exploding alien blob things especially), you can really tell where they are holding things back to keep the framerate up (and even that drops really bad in some places). They kinda cover it up at the end with weather stuff, but yeah, meh.

Yea pretty much what I noticed, at least the wind affects were pretty good and the character models seemed detailed enough.

I think it looks great. Really liking the UE4 particle effects. I have to consider getting this on PC.

I'm not saying it looks terrible or anything but it's not really a cut above other games that have released recently.

destruction seems well implemented but the pace of the action seems way to controlled, I guess this gameplay is to show their physics tech.

I just can't unsee the inconsistencies in the physics. It's obviously for gameplay reasons, but just looks silly. Apart from that it looks great, voice acting seems a lot better than previous games. Can't wait to play it down the line.

From a technical perspective looks redundant and not that graphically impressive.

Hope they showcase more innovative aspects into the franchise in the upcoming weeks.

Edit: I don't mean just the weaponry

so goofy that you can shoot tiny barricades and have the wind send cars and massive pipes across the battlefield and yet young marcus and crew can walk through those same winds unimpeded. kind of takes me out of the experience.

PUMPED! Though this is the last video I am going to watch...or at least try to have this the last video.

I'm pretty sure they came out and said that info was incorrect from Polygon. Specifically the stuff about XB1 S running the game better than regular XB1.

Maybe this one was about ( later confirmed ) that Xbone S will upscale all games to 4k. Dynamic resolution has nothing to do with Xbone S "additional power" Rod was asked before ( during GeOW 4 beta ) in which resolution will be final product. He said native then. Now he said dynamic.

Looks fun to play and visually great. Can't understand people saying its graphics are bad, but not surprised. Same with "plays like something from 2006".
Not surprised one bit.

DF will likely analyze the trailer anyway. Art looks great regardless of resolution which has me excited. I'm a huge Halo 5 fan but I think the art could be improved a great deal, so it's nice to see Gears 4 getting the right treatment.

Hope the game is HDR10.
Does anyone know ?

Already been confirmed that XB1 HDR games are using HDR10.

Marcus being in the game would have been an awesome surprise while actually playing it. Why do they have to spoil it months before release?

Not surprised one bit.

We should make up a Talk Down Xbox Game Bingo Card.

We'd need about 108 boxes though for all the members names we'd need to check off and the phrases they use, lol.

yeah

Marcus Fenix reveal and being part of squad would have been a great surprise.

I have no idea why they did this. You're absolutely right that if done right that could have been an awesome moment for Gears fans to see Marcus Fenix join the crew.

Gameplay looks like same ol'Gears but way prettier. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

Sorry for the slightly off topic question, but is this a simultaneous release for PC too? I keep seeing this message on microsoft website saying "play anywhere". Could anyone weigh in please?

Looks great, plays like a 2006 title.

Can you even shoulder switch?
If you really thibg this plays like Gears 1 then you don't know much. "Looking similar" and "playing similar" are two different things, the latter has changed over the years and this one plays like an improved version of the third game which is very different from the previous one and was already close to being perfect. The former on the other hand is a non issue.

Gears's movement based gameplay is still unmatched and the proof of it the multiplayer....that no other game till date even remotely manages to compare with.

Yes! I'm really liking this environment in comparison to the ones they've previously shown. I agree with some that it's not the graphical powerhouse you'd expect it to be, but that's because people usually hold Gears at a higher standard since the series has always been groundbreaking graphically. I can't help but imagine what this would look like had it been designed for the Scorpio.

Honestly though, the game isn't exciting me much at all. Between the campaign demos and the MP beta, it just feels so safe. I think all of the 343/Halo shit probably scared them away from trying something new which is a bummer.

I'm still looking forward to playing on PC though. It'll look great at 60fps/1440p.

Wow, they should have kept Marcus joining hidden until people got the game in their hands and actually played it. Bah

For folks who aren't wowed by the graphical fidelity it's important to remember that with the OG Gears last gen it was the first time console gamers were exposed to HD graphics as opposed to this gen. We've been exposed to HD graphics for almost a little over 10 years now.

Any wow factor for this title has been mitigated somewhat by this.
