Thread bumped...OMG! IT MUST MEAN THERE'S A RELEASE DA......no.

Cmon, i think it's fair to expect a thread rename with the new info about the release date when the're will be something new.

Oh God please don't become vaporware.
Way too expensive to become vaporware. Way too expensive to consider the losses of this game not coming out before christmas.

Sony must be pulling their hair out, and PD must feel a bit nuts.

So going by Kaz's "complex systems" comment, do we think the issue is that when they put everything together they had:

A) Frame rate issues; or
B) Game breaking bugs?

The whole 'they only just missed the deadline' comment would seem to suggest B but then we don't know if it was true to being with. But if it really is only one of those two things, surely the delay can't be for too long?

Considering they've had almost a full three weeks to announce a new release date, and they haven't, I'm going to go with C) they're all a bunch of incompetent loonies.

Mentally, I've prepared myself for a delay into next year, so I can be pleasantly surprised if that doesn't happen, and not utterly devastated when it inevitably does.

Yeah..my guess is when PD were putting it altogether they realized something was going seriously wrong and bailed on the release date.

I expect a new thread and this one will go in the dead pile along with the other 10 GT5 threads. :D

I assume we will get the release date this week, the reward show is on the 3rd.

In addition to the music acts following the awards ceremony, guests will have a chance to check out and play Gran Turismo 5 prior to launch.

Also on GTplanet people have found that Lamborghini, Bugatti, NASCAR and WRC were all in GT5P's code line. That's interesting because none of that was announced when GT5P was released. It was there the entire time and no one found it until now.

Well I'd reckon they've only just recently been able to examine the actual code thanks to jailbreaking. It's a good sign that PD was thinking that far ahead, with regards to NASCAR and WRC at least. It may be feature bloat, but at least it'll be well implemented feature bloat.

Here's the press release for the pre-order

Hong Kong, 1 November 2010- Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong (SCEH)(*1)today announced that the highly anticipated “GRAN TURISMO®5” (GT5) (English / Traditional Chinese version), the online car-life simulator exclusive on the PlayStation®3(PS3™)system, is set to be in stores in Hong Kong later of this year at the suggested retail price of HK$458. This is the latest installment of the “GRAN TURISMO®” series(*2).

A global server is used for managing the online functions in a standardized manner, allowing simultaneous global of contents updates. The global server also enables the in-game “Gran Turismo TV” function on GT5 Asian versions. Contents of the channels’ programmes are translated into English and Traditional Chinese to be delivered near-instantly to users in Asia. Some online functions can be played by web browser through Gran-Turismo.com (www.gran-turismo.com/hk), allowing users to enjoy GT world through internet whenever and wherever at their wish.

http://asia.playstation.com/hk/en/news/pressDetail/200400

It lists it as coming at the end of 2010, so nothing new in that area.

Some new cars on the poster that you receive for pre-ordering

I think I know what has happened.GT5 only exists in demo or promotional form.Consists of just a handful of cars and tracks which gets updated every now and then with added eye candy. The 60 million dollars budget was spent on promoting the game and of course Kaz's frequent trips around the world.

I also think I am going insane.

I want that poster. And those stickers. And that blue ps3. Perhaps even the game.

Went to the store during my lunch break and nearly shat myself but then saw that it was just an empty case. :( Starting to get jumpy.

That can't be right... according to Iknos it was all a response to Forza...

Anywho, NASCAR was pretty obvious, considering Daytona was in and even had an introduction that only talked about nascar but the other stuff is pretty interesting.

I thought PD missed the deadline only by three days?
Really doesn't look that way, does it.

What I reckon happened is that they missed the deadline for sending it off for final certification by three days... and then it failed certification. That, or it was all bullshit and something else was going on. If it was just down to re-planning distribution / manufacturing then we'd have a date by now.

Its cool if i get depressed right now? I think were near 'February 2011' right now...

:(

No new release date by now = i think we have to be ready for a 2011 release. Hopefully Sony will prove me wrong. Please Sony, prove me wrong and release that game in 2010.

I won't lie, I'm nervous about it getting pushed back into early next year. They've had over two weeks to reschedule getting their discs pressed and establishing a new release date.

Remember when we had that Little Big Planet debacle a couple of years ago, the discs were already printed and they still managed to get new ones out in a little over a week.

This does not bode well at all.

lol he was adamant on his rhetoric to.

NASCAR being in GT5P's code is interesting because NASCAR apparently only approached Sony in late 2008...months after 5P shipped.

Maybe someone's got their dates mixed up.

Also before anyone jumps to conclusions about the courses, nursnow doesn't mean Nurburgring Snow. It's Charmonix. I'm not sure why that's its code name.

I really hope Tahiti Maze made it into GT5. I believe this might be the second clue to its existence in GT5.

Also I was hoping that we might get some more variations on the Seattle track.

It was in GT4 EU...

Fuck yeah, one day from the original release date...and still no release date!
The more this bullshit continues, the more I like and respect Microsoft's strategy of a) promoting games a year or a half year from release and b)being hard assed about deadlines.
