[new] Halo 3 CG Commercial Shot

I DO have interest in Halo, I just don't understand why they can't just show real in game footage. The "It's not ready yet" excuse doesn't fly....Why does there HAVE to be a trailer in December? Why not February?

come on. christmas? MS wants to sell 360s OMG!!!

Well just pretend that this trailer never debuted.

I don't see how it affects you if you would be willing to wait to see in-game. So just wait..

Whats the problem again?

Wait, pretend something about Halo never debuted? Are you crazy? Halo isn't something like Metal Gear Solid where casual players could care less, Halo is pretty much a household name next to "PlayStation" and "Wonderswan"! I'll be hearing about how real Halo 3 looks for the next year because of the CG trailer!

Will the trailer have something that say's "Not ingame footage" on it, or do advertising laws not relate to video games?

Yeah shame it aint ingame. So far from the early shots of H3, i dont think it is better than GOW or resistance so far in terms of grahpics, but they do have another year for polish.

Go listen to last weeks 1up yours for your answer.

Edit: Actually i mean the Halo special.

It definitely looks better than Resistance, I would say. The texturing and the lighting is vastly superior in halo 3.

Because Microsoft wants to push the 360 during the holidays? Just a thought. If the game isn't ready to be shown that way, that explains the use of in-game assets in a CG commercial. Pretty straight-forward.

Because the game ISN'T DONE. They're still working on the textures, models and shaders so obviously it's impossible for them to show anything true to the end product at this point.

Just look at this stuff as eye candy. :)

E3, maybe you missed it?

Methodis seems to have a comprehension problem...

And he's talking about bad art with an avatar like that... okay.

Why not on national TV? Why do they have to resort to CG? Is this any better then the Killzone 2 CG?

to be fair killzone was a scam, they claimed it was realtime whereas microsoft admits its CG a month before the thing will be shown. theres a difference

True but on both cases both companies are trying to get the casual audiences to believe that these movies are real time. Unless Microsoft has a "Not In Game Footage" disclaimer on the movie (Which I highly doubt they will) then they're just as guilty as Sony IMHO.

nah

this is the f*cking xbox360. I shouldn't have to look at a single CG shot this generation. If the game's not ready to show, then don't show anything. I'm sick of this CG bullshit, and have been for years.

Fight fire with fire, what do you expect from a big company?

MS will probably do what they can to pour the water on sony, and vice versa.

While misleading possibly thousands of potential buyers into thinking that's what Halo will really look like.

In that case, Microsoft really ****s up whatever lead they had. There is going to be an outrageous backlash when gamers find that Halo 3 won't look like the trailer. Talk about overeaction on the part of Microsoft to gain a lead next year.

No, but look at the COD2 commercials for the 360...Remember that lawsuit in England?

There is an aspect of the commercial that will leave you in no doubt that it is not meant to represent gameplay. Except Methodis. Nothing will convince her.

As in a screen that say's "THIS IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF INGAME FOOTAGE"?

If so, Bravo Bungie. Good job.

If not, Bravo Sierra.

Im sure bungie or someone said that the trailer will say its cg at one point, their not trying to fake anything here but instead give up 60 seconds of very nice looking master chief. There is nothing wrong with that!

also while in another halo thread I found this

"Halo is a pop culture phenomenon! The Halo franchise has changed the face of interactive entertainment and it's only fitting that we take an innovative approach to how we market and advertise the brand," said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft Corp. "This invites a new audience with a rich back story, and continues to galvanize gamers around the world for the launch of Halo 3 in 2007."

Can this end now?

Did you notice Sonic's middle finger is sticking up?

Yes, that terribly designed Sonic has his finger up - point being?

Anyways, for the final time, it's using in-game assets and models, while Killzone did no such thing, and even went as far as trying to pass it off as in-game stuff - Bungie has said from day one what this trailer is, no secrets, no beating around the bush...

Just end this already... damn.

She's just pissed because the new Sonic game sucks ass.

I'm waiting for someone to like find "hidden" details in the still shot or something, I was joking around.
Ah, okay. I was being dense. but since you brought it up (the analysis, not my being dense):

It looks like a recently destroyed warthog on the right, and a downed banshee on the left in the background. I think the two destroyed each other, with the Chief on the warthog. Why is the shot focusing on the shotgun? Because it's critical to this scene. The Chief was thrown, or jumped, from the warthog and lost his weapon. An enemy - possibly the pilot of the banshee - is facing the Chief, with the shotgun between them. Drama!

At least, that's what it looks like is happening to me. :)

Should've used this for the Halo 3 CG trailer:

would that be the fact that the trailer will be using REAL LIVE actors, perhaps, Stinkles my good man?
I always find Stinkles to have the perfect face of what master chief shoud look like. Bald, white, and business.

Is the trailer itself based on an actual game scene / environment from Halo 3 or is it just made up? And if so, is it the one mentioned by 1up after seeing 17.29 seconds footage?
