New Halo 3 Gameplay Videos Leaked

Honestly, when you get above 16 players the game turns to shit anyway, so what's the point?
The number of players doesn't really matter, so long as the game it designed for that number. Gears works at eight because the gameplay and level designs were tuned for that number. Halo works with sixteen (and even better with twelve) for the same reason.

I know about saved films, but that's not what I mean.

Halo TV ala Gotham TV in PGR3. So I could just boot up my 360 and watch other people fight from a spectator mode. Complete with dynamic camera angles etc.

I'd love to watch a BTB play out. :D
Would be interesting! If I had to pick one, it's saved films, but let's hope for both. No sleep for Bungie. :p

Oooh that would be so sick...

Thats how you do Video Game TV... none of this MTV bullshit... just give me a live feed to the actual games.

How did these people get access to Halo 3 already? They're playing on what seem to be 20 year old TV's, and the video footage seems to be taken by some Camera Phone from the early 2000's. What the hell!

They're playing the Alpha. Microsoft employees, probably. (Halo 2 had an alpha with ~8,000 MS employees.)

I bet it's a master plan by MS to make sure the people in the beta, A) Have really shitty TV's B) And low quility Camera Phones to boot. So, when leaks like this happen you can't make out jack. :lol

I'm gonna guess March before we get our hands on the Halo 3 Alpha, and I bet it's going to be for a really short amount of time. :( This is going to be crazy downloading a huge game at 20KB/s when you have millions of people trying to get their copy at the same time.

eh, last gen 16 players was too many and every BTB was filled with lag and more jerks, I can't imagine the misery that would result from 32 player games.

yeah, the graphics are crap! why does it keep saying 'HALOMEXICO' on the screen and what's with that framerate and resolution?
[/sarcasm]

I imagine the poor quality is intentional. It masks the on-screen identifier.

Can't wait for Spring.

DAMNIT!

No lie, a little birdie told me to check on GAF to see if by chance there was any new Halo 3 tidbits out of the blue, and not only are there videos and pics (crappy quality ones), but I missed them because the MS ninjas struck first... GAAAHHHH!

Well, I'm gonna go hunting, to see I can stumble across anything...

It's just really crappy vid of a multiplayer match. You can hardly see anything at all.

You did not miss anything. Ultra-low res and ~5 fps video. You can kinda see a sniper rifle, and that's about it.

This is Halo 3 bro - anything will satisfy me!

For example, just seeing something as little as how the medals show up now looked pretty damn cool...

And I did manage to see them - very cool - although they'll probably be gone by the time I go back...

Ah well, back to packing I go...

I can safely say that now after I saw them already, and yeah, the quality was unbearable, but I HAD to see them - it's Halo 3!

Graphics look meh atm...whatever...how´s the gameplay?

yes. I think Bungie needs to fix the aspect ratio AND the resolution. Shipping a game at 54 pixels X 24 pixels at <4 fps really isn't good enough these days.

I don't see how the gameplay won't suffer at that resolution and frame rate IMHO.

:lol Alright you bastards, sorry. I swear I'd read that Halo 3's big hook was going to be 64 player multiplayer.

On the bright side, now I can see how the visuals can be better.

Maybe they should switch platforms to the PS3. I hear component can't handle HD resolutions. Either way, they'll never live up to the CG render. And Frankie is bald.

The textures in those videos were terrible. Pixels everywhere! Tell me that was level three, and appropriate tightening is now occurring.

(Link yielded no hits, BTW)

what? you weren't joking? :D

the video quality is so shitty that it's not even worth posting. non-news ftl.

Obviously those things are going to improve, but personally I was let down by the models they showed in that Brute video (all my comments are about the Et Tu Brute video on XBL, btw - I haven't watched this one yet). It took me a second to figure out whether they were showing the Halo 2 models again at first.

Halo 3 has no excuse to not look better then lost planet, which so happens to be a massive scale game.

I got Lost Planet yesterday, got through the first 3 or 4 missions, and I'm sorry, but have you played the game? Have you seen the AI in this game? I can sit in front of 6 guys with machine guns about 6 feet from them, and I wouldn't die for 5 minutes if I just sat there and did nothing.:lol

Halo 3's AI will chew up a good chunk of the 360's power, while Lost Planet's is sadly non-existant.(Still having a blast with it though) And also, the scale is not quite Halo-size(that's including the original).

I'm probably one of the biggest graphics whores on here, with the exception to one game: Halo. This is the only game whose AI takes first place to everything else.

Halo 3 is going to look great, but it will be far from the best looking game on the 360 by the time it comes out. And if it does look as good as GOW, then it's time to worry because either Bungie has figured out something no one else has, Halo 3's AI is borrowed from Goldneye, or the levels got chopped into small corridors. Whatever the case Halo 3 looking like GOW means it's no longer Halo.

It's simply impossible at this point in time for a game to be on the scope of Halo, have AI like Halo, but look like GOW.

People expecting that will be dissapointed.

If you recall, Resistance was actually criticized in certain quarters for having *up to* 40 players online.
Now these Halo fans are drooling and fanboying over numbers like "64" "256". Gosh what a surprise.
One almost gets the impression some of these folks might consider Resistance competition for the great H. Interesting.

I don't think you read this thread. A bit too eager to try and start shit up, me thinks. :lol

How do we know they didn't just film Halo 2 in really low-quality?

Ah here we go. This is nice, let's run with it.
No I don't consider Resistance to be competition for Halo 3. Resistance 2 maybe but right now? Nope.

"Fanboying" indeed....

Also checking your post history was a mistake.

People were drooling over "64" players? *Re-reads thread*...

One thing I don't understand is why the **** people feel the need to defend Resistance so much? It's a great game, so just stfu and go play it. No need to bring up the fact that people are overlooking it in every damn thread.

Past a certain point it reeks of insecurity, and that point was passed long ago. [/derail]

One would almost get the impression that you almost know what you're talking about....almost.

It's one of the three MP maps shown in the EGM issue. The level is recognizable even in the video.

Eeee, ouch my feeling are hurt... Now time to write it on my myspace and tell all my emo buddies how people are such meanies on the internets.

Some ridiculously unfair reviews, that's all. I'll continue to defend Resistance till I'm dead, and JUSTICE IS DONE, dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way in what way am I misreading the thread? And as you can see, I didn't bring it up, YOU PEOPLE did. :)

<64 players? Wow. Resistance owned. >

:lol :lol :lol

Since you have a little bit of trouble understanding the thread, I'll be nice. All the talk of a ton of players was sarcasm. A joke. The consensus seems to be that 16 players works best for this franchise.

So I thought all the beta testers for Halo 3 had some sort of screen watermark that was supposed to indicate who would have leaked the video. The resolution on this video is pretty terrible, but I don't see any identifiable watermarks on it.

Most of the first page was a sarcastic and exaggerated response to LiveFromKyoto's statement that Halo 3 had 64 players for MP. Nearly everything that followed was ribbing, sarcasm, exaggeration and joking. Which sailed right over your head, apparantly. Did the exaggerations not get severe enough?

It's not a watermark, it's onscreen text, and you can see it in the video, though it not possible to make it out without working some kind of magic trickery that you can bet MS and Bungie are trying to conjure up.
