Zoc said:I like adventure games. I have a copy of Fahrenheit. But it's not a mainstream genre anymore, and the way to make it one again is not to hype up the graphics. That'll just tempt people into buying without knowing what the gameplay is like, hating it because it's not Halo, and then complaining about it on forums.
Good graphics are wonderful, but hyping them up without mentioning gameplay is a way of tricking people into buying games, and that never works in the long run.
of course, but since we are using stills here.AltogetherAndrews said:In a still, sure. It's the motion bit that is tricky.

I want to see a real time vid...WrikaWrek said:According to Quantic Dream, Heavy rain already beats it in real time.
...so the models should look about as good as that right!? I mean!?
Get rid of the Mass Effect avatar! It's confusing for people.Metalmurphy said:

wow... you come off as disagreeing with this just to disagree...Ranger X said:Not even near. You wouldn't fool me with that. You can see it's not mother nature that made this because of the hairs and skin most importantly.

The picture of that guy above made by Pyotr Wysocki looks more natural than 90% of the airbrushed photos you see in the fashion magazines. I actually almost can't believe that picture is a render.elcapitan said:Hindsight bias. If nobody told you it was fake, then you'd probably never notice.

and when I state "this beats UV" it was an exaggeration in comparison to the heavy rain stills
EDIT: to top it off the skin doesn't look any different then the constantly air brushed supermodels society is fed everyday.

the point I was trying to get across originally was that it is extremely good, but there is no fooling Ranger X's keen eyes ;pRanger X said:The skin is more evident in a bigger picture. There's a way bigger pic of that CG.
Anyways, if you look at the big picture there's an unnatural feeling with pretty much every aspect.
Thing is, this CG is extremely good. With great animation it could fool most people. I just can tell you that i personally will not be fooled anytime soon.

hows that a bad thing...Ranger X said:There's a downside to all this. I've never seen someone look better with colored lenses, i don't really like some types of make-up and fake boobies do nothing for me except feeling unnatural and wierd.![]()
Jirotrom said:hows that a bad thing...
what you say is true but natural is better, one reason I won't become a plastic surgeon.Ranger X said:Well, it's not really a bad thing and my girlfriend isn't using any of that. It's just that sometimes i feel like girls in our society are getting more and more artificial in look and the media are trying to make us think it looks better.
Interesting but off-topic i guess![]()

Ranger X said:This is great. The hair is extremely well done. Skin too.
It's getting near the point where you would need animation to not get fooled (at least for most people). The face is still wierd somehow and sadly the tatoo is totally giving it away.

so you think the zimmerman pick looks more realistic than the girl:/Ranger X said:This is great. The hair is extremely well done. Skin too.

Ranger X said:Interesting pic. It's a real photo but there might be photoshop on it. It's very hard to tell sometimes with objects. That bottle could be a very well done 3D one and the paper on the guy kinda look wierd.
Liabe Brave said:Of course, it's a trick question. It's neither a photo, Photoshopped, nor a 3D render. It's a painting.
Human eyes--yes, even yours--can be fooled.

I don't know how much he 'shopped, but if real life fashion models get to have that treatment, CG models can use it too, no?filopilo said:The girl up here is (much) better done than this.More with the fact that Piotr took an easy road here, ligthing conditions wise(+photoshop).
