New Hunger Games: Catching Fire Posters

I was wondering something last night. In the teaser trailer for the Hunger Games, they end with the Mockingjay call, and there was a crowd reaction to it, like people recognized it. Could anyone tell me how the noise was described in the book? Just a four-note whistle, or what?

Yeah, the book beats you over the head with the fact that it's a simple four note tune enough that people knew immediately what it was despite technically hearing it for the first time. And luckily, they managed to choose four notes that actually sounded cooler than what most people probably imagined.

It seems they'll be revealing new posters all the time. There's a countdown on the website:

I agree with everyone saying the Catching Fire is the best book in the series because it is. And Mockingjay had some awesome moments but it was terribly disappointing. How dare they remove the best character
Finnick
without a so much as a goodbye? Also the poster looks way too... bloomy.

does anyone else have the problem of getting The Crying Game song stuck in your head when you see anything related to The Hunger Games?

Fucking drives me nuts.

She was going to freeze to death and vampires don't generate body heat, so wolfboy was on deck. Twilight is just delightfully stupid.

I would replace the word "delightfully," with "fucking," and the sentence would be a bit more accurate.

Even watching the Twilight films on Riff Trax was painful (the Riff Trax guys were hilarious, but the movies are so god damned difficult to watch).

Anyway, I enjoyed the Hunger Games movie for the most part, so I'll eventually get around to checking out the sequel, but probably not in theaters. I'll just rent it on Amazon, like I did with the original.

I will get around to reading the books, though, but my book backlog is kind of long at the moment.

Is The Hunger Games any good?
First two books were decent, and had some good bits. Third book was total garbage.

I don't know exactly what happened, but it felt like the author, production team, or whatever completely stopped giving any fucks about the series and just wanted it to end. So the story didn't bother with trying to tell a decent conclusion, and just took the easy (read: dumb, incredibly contrived and totally uninspired) way out for all remaining plotlines.

I almost forgot Cinna
is killed in the second book.
<--This is a spoiler for the second book in case it wasn't obvious that I'm posting it in a thread for the second goddamned book.

You could tell in the second one the writer had no plans to make this a trilogy to start with. The world could have been a lot more interesting if it was shackled to this whiny teenage stuck in a dumbass love triangle. There were some good bits in the second book like
some dude getting shot on the steps of a courthouse as they were rushed out
but the return to the games is so contrived and the lead into book 3 is just dumb.

This is not how you fucking spoiler.

TELL US WHAT THE SPOILER IS REFERRING TO.

I almost forgot Cinna **2ND BOOK SPOILER**
is killed in the second book.

I thought you were spoiler-tagging something from the first movie/book. Or maybe making a funny joke about Lenny Kravitz. Fucking hell.

Geeze people. Isn't it obvious my spoiler is from the SECOND MOVIE/BOOK seeing as we're in a thread for the SECOND MOVIE/BOOK!

Seriously people? Seriously?

It's obviously not obvious if people are complaining about it.
Well I have learned from my mistake. Next time I'll just make it clearer. But still. mindisfulloffuckjackiechan.jpg

But if I had gone into a thread for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and posted a tagged spoiler that
the prisoner is Harry's uncle and isn't the one who killed Harry's parents and lol if you're reading this and haven't read or seen the movie
back when that movie was big and didn't tag it, would you not have known that the spoiler I am posting is probably from the book that the thread is for? It only seems logical.

Disclaimer: The spoiler above is from the Harry Potter book "Prisoner of Azkaban" in case you haven't read or seen it.

I mean seriously, the people who were spoiled by that, what exactly did you think it was going to be? Why did you not assume that it would be a spoiler for the movie/book we are currently discussing?

Poster is now ruined for everybody.

[poster looks terrible, by the way. Fake, plastic-ish, boring, no idea what it is supposed to represent]

I thought that is what they were going for. It's supposed to represent the manufactured "victory" tour that the tv show puts on.

The books, to me

The first: fight for your life in a contest, pretty cool.
Th second: hey, isn't this the first book?
The third: what in the hell happened to everyone?
