New Hyrule Warriors characters announced

Huh, so kid-sized characters can function in HW. That was just about the only reason I could conceive for not having Saria to begin with.

Tingle is fine and totally expected, but no Skull Kid really shocks me. That being said, thinking about it some more made me wonder if it should. I mean yes, he's important to the plot of the game, but he's seen very little in the actual game after the very start and really doesn't do much after that point, either. And then I remembered Twili Midna exists and yeah WTF why no Skull Kid?

Young Link is a kind of boring choice and from what little I saw of the combos they both seem slow and weak; though hopefully that was just their weakest attack chains. Young Link can transform to Fierce Deity for a "short time"? Not sure if that's using a meter or if it happens on certain combo trees. He also had that yellow mask on his body; maybe he'll use that in some move. Otherwise they could have just made Fierce Deity Link the character instead of Young Link.
The way I imagined Young Link was he using masks as actual weapon, we already have a shiton of characters with swords, if they nail combos with mask finishers it would be less sword standart-boring.

Not sure; looks feminine. So probably Link.
Lana?
Could be, looks too skinny to be Link :P

the tingle design and animations are so good

i was scared to hear that aonuma might've gotten final word on tingle not getting in the game, so i'm really happy to see this

Young Link over the transformations and Skull Kid? WHAT?

It would be interesting to find if Young Link is just a reskin of link using the same weapons, or if the transformations perhaps lead into his fighting technique. I'm not writing that aspect off just yet.

I want Young Link in Smash with a Mask-Changing-Mechanic and Oni-Link as Final Smash =(

Not going to happen.
1. Smash Bros characters never have drastic, entire 100% revamps of their moves. They change one or two specials or the animation on their regular attacks, but never entire redos. This is why we have Ganondorf who is different from Falcon, but still shows his roots.
2. Toon Link replaced Young Link in the Smash Bros series entirely. Having them both is redundant, Toon Link has all the differences YL had from Link.
3. Veterans can't be alt costumes of current characters, otherwise it would disappoint fans (see Sakurai's interview on Doc).

YL is trapped in Smash Limbo. His moveset is identical to Toon Link, but he can't be an alt costume. He can't be made different from TL because it requires a total redo.

He's stuck

How would yet another full size Link be somehow less boring than Young Link?
Also how can you say the combos seem slow and weak based on like 2 sword swings and a transformed circle slash?
I get that you're salty over no Skull Kid but come on.

Doesn't this technically mean that the Hero of Time is now in Hyrule Warriors, ready to curbstomp that fake ass Link? Lol

Dude, calm down. Literally the first sentence:

And I'm not the one being salty over Skull Kid, lol. I even said he probably wasn't going to be in this DLC.

From looking at that part of the direct again, it's obvious that Shiek & Impa will be getting the Ocarina of Time-inspired costumes, but the Skull Kid outfit is a tough one. I'm guessing that it's a mix-up between Zelda & Lana that will get the outfit, as that physique doesn't match up to Link's.

I'm otherwise excited to play as Tingle & Young Link, especially as I can now lay down the pain on Ganondorf/Ganon as Fierce Deity Link.

Heck yeah!

But he looks pretty clumsy and inexperienced here. I guess he's just pretending not to be a badass.

Yeah, that's probably it.

He's totally cute though.

Just to confirm, young link is packing the Fierce Deity mask, yes? And turns into Angry God Link? Because fuck yes if so!

Also I'm both disgusted and delighted by playable Tingle! The oddly endearing creepy little pervert!

Yes, but not sure for how long. It might only be during special attacks, or maybe when a meter is filled.

My disappointment at not being able to play as Skull Kid/Majora is only mitigated by the overwhelming joy I will have playing as Fierce Diety.

Really good pack!
but, wasn't there another pack to be release in January?

No, but this was going to be released in January in Europe. No European date so far, but probably coming on the same date as for NA.

The Ganon/Boss pack (which ONLY features two game modes, no characters/weapons) is the next and last one.
