New images of Xbox Series X

I think both consoles are ugly tbh.

The Xbox is just an ugly shape, I don't think minimalism really works when the form factor isn't functional. How is it even meant to fit in a typical entertainment centre?

The PS5 is too chintzy for my tastes. I particularly dislike that it seems to require that ugly plastic stand, even on its side. Just no.

It's been a while since I disliked console designs as much as these. Probably the original Xbox, although the 360 looks cheap and tacky nowadays, too.

I think its the angle of the photo. Check this:

damn, this pic makes it look tiny

I quite liked the design when it was first unveiled but I'm no so sure now.
Maybe the production model, maybe the lighting... Hmmm.

It's a step in the right direction, I hear the next model will achieve what they set out to and be perfect for their target market...

That's when I'm getting one!

Looking really cool. I wish the Xbox LED logo would also lit green on both console and controller.

I like the design, its got the nostalgic boom box vibe to it, being a 90's teen, this appeals to me

Ps5 looks like a wish.com design, under the subheading "gamer"

It looks super cheap here. In promo shots it looks alright, boring but unoffensive and yeah, looks 'fine'. In these shots it looks like cheap plastic and a bit dominating.

But on the flip side at least it isn't 5x as tall and looks like an early-years art student designed it like the PS5 does.

No bullshit, just a big fuck off black box and much easier on the eye than that other inbred looking deformity.

Matte black never looks good. Hate the PS4 Pro for that reason. PS5 is much more elegant with its understated futuristic design.

I like the PS5 more, but XSX doesn't look bad anyway, only too thick to fit under some tv stands.

Not a big issue to hardcore gamers anyway.

with halo being delayed maybe we get a green armor version...

must not buy. Have good laptop...

It's smart-looking box. It's funny how XSX looks like a console designed by a Japanese company, and PS5 looks like something designed by a bunch of liberal Europeans.
I honestly expected the PS5 to look like the XSX (before the XSX was revealed).

Said it before, I'll say it again:

XBox: I really like their simple, clean design.

Sony: Always appreciate the boldness in design.

Conclusion: its all personal preference. So while I appreciate Sony putting effort in design, I prefer a simpler, more industrial design.

Even as a mostly Playstation gamer, I think the Series X is really attractive in a monolithic way. It's clean and symmetrical and even though it's a little bland, I understand its appeal. I don't hate it at all. Really need to see the PS5 in person to understand it, but I like that too.

If only it was a little slimmer. That will not fit in my media unit. Which sucks. And the omission of HDMI In is disappointing.

Not much of a fan of the PS5 either so much so I think I'll have to hide it under my desk.

I mean it's not like Xbox One was a better design but props to PS5 for originality and shape. Black box will blend more with the rest of electronics but PS5 is a statement and I like it. This will not even get a glance from anyone as it sits below the TV.

Good to know that it is easy enough to open up and repair. Simple, clean design. I love it. Not exaggerated with all these curves. Just a simple box to play games on. What matters is the games being played on the screen, not the machine, the machine will just blend into the background. Lights on a console are too damn distracting to be honest.

Good point indeed. It *looks* easy to open, and potentially capable of independent repair.
Regarding lights, I agree. It looks nice -like the ps4 controller light- but 5 mins later you dont want that thing shining. Hopefully theres an option to turn it off.

I think the design, even if "boring", it is beautiful and effective. The only thing I really dislike is the green light on top of it, it is very corny.

It's not a light, it's just green plastic under the black plastic. Which feels cheap, would be better without it.

Other than that I quite like the design. The PS5 has a more fun/exciting design, but as an actual functional piece of hardware I prefer the XSX. The PS5 can't even be put on its side without a stand...

Getting toxic up in here...

I've got to say the more I see it, the more I like the subdue design. Thanks for sharing OP

Looks great, I think I'll stand it at an angle. Why did people have to remind me of that ugly PS5 beast in here? Hiding it behind the tv, for sure.
