New inFamous 2 gameplay videos

The lightning balls seems slower than the bolts from the first game. If you really want to compare Cole's basic attack to an assault rifle, the bolts are closer.

I think the real problem with his criticism is that he's leaving out several equally important features that make up the core gameplay. The game is clearly not solely about riding wires and climbing.
 
Really looking forward to this. That new move where Cole magnetizes the car, rides it, then throws it looked so cool. The melee stuff looks improved quite a bit too.

On another note, which beta do you guys think is going to come bundled with this? Twisted Metal, Uncharted 3, or Resistance 3? Sony is bundling the SOCOM one with KZ3 so I'm almost positive that a game without a multiplayer portion will have a beta attached.

I was under the impression that you would have ice powers and they just haven't been shown yet. Unless they have been removed. If so I have not read or heard anything to that effect.
 
Again with the awful canned enemy death animations. I hated that about the first game since it marred the feel of combat. Proper feedback to the player is important. It's lame going around zapping every goon that both looks the same and dies the same.

I agree, I wonder what the reason is for them to not use ragdolls for enemies. I mean, they obviously have a physics system in place seeing as how cars and debris are pushed around realistically.

Nice, looks like it will be fun to play through. It also appears as if they buffed up the Cole model a bit. He doesn't look as much like a sickly hospital patient as he once did.

The first game probably addressed the problems you had with the demo.
 
Looks really really good, Day 1 for sure

Still hate that re-re-design with a passion though. Guy still looks to me like a somewhat old man using clothes too young for his generation.

Looking for something more dramatic, perhaps? Death animations is a lost art these days.
 
this game looks so incredible, I cant wait for it, I really cant! I think this is going to be an Uncharted Uncharted 2 leap in quality, Im calling it now. I dont like the new lightning ball tho, I wonder if thats a simply an upgrade or alt fire.

I feel the same way too. Would be nice if they would let us choose if we want to play as the old new Cole right from the beginning.
 
im more excited for this than killzone for sure, but why are they so bad at encoding videos? dont they want this game to look good? as soon as anything moves the picture is fucked.
 
Looks fantastic, although, I'm still not feeling Nix. She looks so out of place, and the voice/accent doesn't help either.

I've watched the videos a few more times and the 'enemy is dead' noise is pissing me off now. If they are going for something as satisfying as the Killzone 2 MP death chirp, they've failed hard.

I still hope that all melee isn't done with the Amp. Oh, and I hope regular lightning attacks come back. The new attack looks like arse.
 
Ok so im playing through infamous 1 right now and from those 2 videos it seems that the feel of the video is a lot heavier. Cole doesnt move as fast, the lighting either.

I've Platinum'd inFAMOUS and I don't remember a 'the enemy is dead' sound. If it is there, its not as in your face as this sounds. All I remember is the music simmering down.

I wonder why they changed the basic lightning attack.

Wasn't one of the powerup moves the ability to throw out little electric grenades? I seem to remember that being a light and dark power that you got relatively early on. If so then, given Cole is at least as powerful as he was at the end of Infamous, perhaps it makes sense that his major powers in the first are now just minor powers in the second.

True, but why change the already awesome basic attack? It shoots more like a slow bullet plasma rifle now than the relatively quick fire zapping of the first. I loved just zapping people.

Yeah I was thinking that. Looks great otherwise, the smoke and explosions look awesome (no thanks to the awful bitrate videos).

Game looks crazy good. Full of action.

The demo that they took to the show I played it at last year had an extensive melee focus, and for good reason: it feels amazing. The power of that tuning fork thing is remarkable. I have to second Jim here... this game is going to be crazy good.

Oberg also settles an issue that hung over from E3, where fans examining trailers and previews decided Cole was about to receive ice powers to go with his National Grid baiting. "Cole is the electric man," he says. "The ice stuff was in a video and people ran with it. We're definitely going to explore how electricity works with other elements."
