New inFamous preview and screens

Dont really see why theres a Prototype/Infamous 'debate' going on. They offer completely different experiences.
Any games that appear similar are bound to have this happen to them, it's part of gaf's must take a side mentality.

And it's always heightened when one is exclusive and the other is multiplatform. You've got the guys who are propping up one because it's exclusive or tearing down the other game in the name of console superiority and you've got the guys on the other side of the fence propping up the multiplatform game or ragging on the exclusive to make themselves feel better about not being able to play it.

Just get em both
That's far too conciliatory.

Thanks for the heads up, I wanna try out the demo for sure, but get ready for another media blitz of how evil Sony is for doing this.
well they have it coming, it's stupid. I'm getting this day 1, but why the hell are people who have already decided to buy it the ones getting a demo?

Everyone will get to play the demo. Whether it's through Qore or a pre order program, whenever Sony puts a demo out through them they always put it on PSN before the actual games release date for everyone to try it out.

damn this game does not "screenshot" well at all.

But neither did crackdown, and that game fucking ruled.

Killzone 2.
yes we have euro-accounts but I still think it's a very poor idea to give demo to purchasers

Despite the hesitation that some people have, it seems like every time someone plays it they end up loving it. I guess it's one of those games where you can't really understand what's so good about it until you start playing.

This is exactly the case. The quick, loose feel of the controls is what sold me. That, and all the stuff blowing up. It kind of reminds me of Crackdown in some ways.

KZ2's demo was on the PSN store on the 26th, a day before the games release.
Sorry, i still think it's a poor idea, and 1 day before is a joke. If they want more exposure, give people a week.

Brad's preview on Giantbomb of Infamous, it looks like he liked it a lot.

To hear the game has great controls is afw, everything starts at the controls.

Yeah, the Infamous/Prototype discussion is pointless. I have to say the both look pretty mediocre, although I get the impression that Infamous is a lot more polished.

By the is Cole the only super hero in the game?

Nah, there are others. You will encounter them later on in the game I believe. First you get to go kickass with your powers, developing them and (from what I understand from interviews and such) when you start feeling bad-ass and indestructible they throw a boss in your face and you're like "WTF, he's just as tough as me!"

Do you think there will be a lot of linearity in the narrative? I mean... can you do lots of side missions and then come back for the main missions, or will they be opened up slowly as more main missions are done? I am not sure which I would prefer tbh... Not being too good a gamer, sometimes I get stuck at a main mission, and doing the little side missions helps a lot (I'm thinking of Fallout 3), and also give an opportunity to level up a bit. On other times, its possible to get totally sidetracked by the side missions and lose the flow of the game. What do people prefer?

Prototype has over the top blood and violence almost like a horror game. This seems a bit more tame in that regard, which I like.

From what I understand there is very little linearity in the game.

Graphics look pretty good, though. Just watched the slo-mo trailer on Gametrailers.

But what the fuck is up with the Karma system? :lol

This is even more black/white than the first KOTOR.

I think they confirmed no MP

Yep, which is a good thing. If a developer can't figure a good way of implementing MP into their game it's better to leave it out rather than forcing something and taking away resources from the SP.

I'm starting to demand Home Unlocks, screw trophies.

Yes, I encourage trophies that unlock something in home that way players who care about home and players who enjoy collecting trophies will be happy.

Didn't they say that the missions wouldn't have a linear structure and you would get new missions depending on where you are on the map and it would be more random? I wonder if they changed that.

:D I haven't seen a negative preview for this game yet.

As far as the demo goes I would like it early but I don't see it happening. That would make too much sense. :lol I think its evident that Sony is slow to build up on new releases, first week sales don't seem to concern them.

They advertise well after release. LittleBigPlanet was that way, Killzone 2 had earlier advertising but definitely not like Microsoft games early, or anyway comparable in scale.

Actually there were some negatives about the game under the screenshots. The only one that stood out particularly was

The actual moral choice I saw (giving some food over to civilians, or killing them and keeping it) was pretty contrived;

Meaning its more black and white I guess.

Yeah the morality system seems a bit simple in the game. Not sure how much I care about this though. Watching the gameplay segments on giantbomb has me excited to try this out. Using electricity to levitate in the air and then slam down on the armored vehicle was awesome. Combat in general looks amazing and you can string different attacks together to mix things up. Good show.

How are there still people who haven't realized what a headache it is to read white text on a black background?

I believe you can flip it where it's white background/black text.

But I like it the way it is personally.

Soon we'll have complainers complaining about no co op in this game :lol

That will probably have to do more with the fact that Crackdown had it, and it was godly.

This game seems a bit more...linear...than that one so that might be why.

am i getting crazy or did they fix the animations (running and launching shock grenades)? they don't look awkward.

Ok I though GAF was complain about animations in the cut-scene, which it is still there. But gameplay animations are always awesome from the begin (no matters you can't change it :P).

The stilted robotic movement in the cut scene is the MUST, because it is gamey and motion-cap is too weird and ungame.

That's mainly what I'm interested in. As long as the combat system is right, I will probably end up playing this game more then anything else coming out this year.

Looks like Sony is pulling a Killzone 2 again. North American gamers get exclusive early access to the InFamous PSN demo for preordering at Gamestop. I already have my code, the demo goes live 05/08/09 according to the download voucher. Just found out about this yesterday. My bad if it's old news.

EDIT: and here it is:

EDIT: Old news is old. Oh well I'll leave the image up anyway because it's badass.

Has anyone taken a look at the Giant Bomb preview? The trailer itself is fine, the gameplay looks great but did you see the dialogue cut scenes? The stilted gestures and robotic movement...that worries me. A great deal.

Yup, that looked awful. Thankfully those are just the short karma moment scenes, hopefully actual cutscenes have better animation. Or wait, are the cutscenes in this game done in some comicbook style? I remember seeing something like that.

GTAIV had similar issues with some less important cutscene animations. There's just so many cutscenes with the chance that some of them may never even be seen ( depending on the path you take ) it's had to give em all the same level of attention. As long as the in game stuff is good.

AGGGHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOO, i hate this because when i go to gamestop for anything that is about a pre-order item they never ever have it ever. AGGGGHHHH.

I freaking hate we have to pre-order through GS for a demo code. Even if I call and ask if they have it they will say yes, then say no when i go there.
