New Iron Fist Trailer

Looks okay. As a fan of martial arts films, the cutting and editing of the fight scenes with Danny looks rough. Too close and not enough to get a feel of the fight itself. Very much like a Western action movie.

I'm assuming the show will have a bit more to it in that respect.

Those who say this feels like Arrow with a bigger budget are spot-on, though Arrow lead Stephen Amell is jacked as hell and works very hard to participate in his stunt work and choreography as much as possible.

As I guessed before, this looks to be a remix of the first Iron Fist arc ever. Jessica Henwick looks great as Colleen, though like others I'm not feeling the love interest angle. Hyped for Madam Gao to return though.

People hate DDS2 now? Luke cage was awful but the punisher arc was incredible

The Hand side of Daredevil S2 was horrible, the Punisher side was great. Likewise early Luke Cage was magical shit, while the latter third are painful.

Why did he beat up the guards doing their job?

I like most of Marvel Netflix so I'm gonna watch this but that trailer showed a lot of tired plot lines. Like its too safe.

When did gaf start hating luke cage? lol

That has been an odd development over the holidays.

I can't dig it.

There was a lot of criticism against Luke Cage since it released (and people had the time to get to the second half). I believe the general opinion (and I actually agree with Gaf this time, as opposed to Gaf's opinion on Jessica Jones which is clearly the best Marvel production out there) is that the first half is sincerely great, but the latter half (basically anything after the first main villain 'leaves' (no spoilers I suppose) feels rushed, the writing (especially the dialogue) takes a great hit, and the plot just isn't that interesting. Almost feels like they ran out of time or had a late change of writers. You can definitely tell that some of the actors (especially Simone Missick was noticable to me, especially because she was my favorite character) just stopped giving as much of a shit and started phoning it in a bit.

Point is, the criticism definitely isn't new, people have been talking about this since the beginning. The show takes a pretty strong dive towards the end.

Stryker was waaaayyy too camp for Luke Cage. It was supposed to be a series about Harlem that ended with a cheap-looking public fist-fight that should have had people yelling "Worldstar." Seriously, Stryker could have been cool, but he was way too colorful and odd for the world of "Luke Cage." They honestly could have saved his character by dialing him down 2 or 3 steps and having the uber-weapon not be something as idiotic as snake-themed supersuit.

I'm really hoping Marvel TV doesn't fuck up "Iron Fist", because old Danny Rand was the first superhero I really got into. My first comics were the Iron Fist series and Danny was a fucking baller in those. My dream project was a Gareth Evans Iron Fist movie, but I hope this show can match up to that impossible height.

the pretty tyrell guy looks so different in this

i liked the trailer. wasn't anything mind blowing but it was tad long. i like the stories where the mc comes back from the dead after a long ass time (i.e. captain america origin, etc.) so i'll probably enjoy this.

The public battle of a super hero against a super villain gave me memories of the ending of Meteor Man. Too campy for how Luke Cage started.

I got real Matt Damon in Great Wall vibes from that. But we'll see, Jessica Jones and DD S1 still remain the only series worth watching.

Luke Cage was so full of itself it was almost painful.

This looks like Arrow with a better budget.

Agree on both counts

Luke Cage overstayed with probably 2-3 episodes too many (an obvious problem for these Netflix shows). Still thought it was great though

This trailer had me grinning the whole time and I've never even read an Iron Fist comic in my entire life.

Yes. She didn't have teh sexs. It's more about mocking how she can't help herself from getting personal with the male titular characters for no discernible reason. Which is silly and overplayed and deserves nothing but groaning.

Dawson is fantastic. But the way she's been used as the convenient romantic foil/awkward triangle factor not once but twice is beyond stupid.

Feels like another Arrow type thing with Felicity

Felicity is with Oliver, no wait Barry Allen, No wait i mean Ray Palmer

The more lighthearted trailer is welcomed. Iron Fist isn't necessarily a "dark" character. Hopefully this makes his interactions with Luke pretty enjoyable come Defenders time.

Not a great trailer by any means, but I'm still gonna binge the shit out of this.

Seriously, Diamondback was so fucking bad.

The first half of Luke Cage was amazing. Cottonmouth was a great villain. Black Mariah was an interesting dark grey character.

And then shit went off the rails in the second half. So goddamned bad.

"ill go with you!"
"no you can't!!"
"you need me"

boring trailer.

Luke Cage was a disaster. I gave up after seven episodes. Took me three or four sessions to get through some episodes. The fan service in the episode where he got his powers was probably the only moment that gave me any enjoyment
This isn't looking too hot, either. :(

Looks good. Enjoyed all the Marvel shows so far, though they all could've benefited from being reduced to 10 episodes instead of 13.

This looks even worse. Luke Cage was one of the most boring shows ever but at least it had some engaging marketing leading up to it ton pull you in.

This just looks freaking terrible lol. I have a feeling the action will suck too. Like into the badlands ain't so hot but the action scenes in there are so dope. I was hoping this would be similar since it's also a kung fu series. Stuff we're seeing in this trailer just looks pretty meh. Hard to fully dismiss it though until we see a full action clip

This doesn't look very good at all. I am not getting a sense of personality or tone from the trailer. It just seems sorta generic. This coming from someone who has loved all of Marvel's tv output so far. Hopefully it is just a bad trailer.

Someone had mentioned in another thread how they should have made Danny Indian and gone for a Bollywood feel. I haven't been able to get that out of my head since and am sad we won't get that. It could have been incredible.

Soooo, exactly the same plot as Arrow season 1?

Swear to God, the opening credits need to start with "My name is Danny Rand, and for 5 years, I've been stuck in a hellish monestary. I came back to defend my city, but in order to do that, I need to become someone else. Something else. I am the Iron Fist."

as i feared. looks fucking terrible.

-rushed into (actual) production
-barely any prep-time for the stunt team and the actors to learn/come up with some compelling fight choreography
-main characters dont wear masks which makes it very hard to use stuntmen (which leads to shoddy editing because you have to hide the stuntmans face while alsways cutting back to the actors face). hell, they copy and pasted some blurry audience members into to scene, to hide the stuntwomans face...
-same dop as jj and luke cage.

Yeah, not really feeling this one. DD and JJ are quality shows - really good stuff despite their flaws. But DD S2 and Luke Cage... really killed my enthusiasm. And nothing I've seen for Iron Fist has brought it back.

I'll expect decent and hope to be surprised.

I'd start phoning it in too if Dawson was going to walk in and take my big moment.
