Another comic book movie !! ..... good christ !!

I had hoped watchmen had finally deflated the comic book / movie bubble.

Seems to be OTT to cover up the fact its a second rate teen fantasy.

And why for the love of god is Mark Strong wasting his talent on this nonsense.

I wish I was wildly out of touch and missed the point half the time.

The last one came out recently.
Pretty good ending, too. I wonder if they're going to change any of it.

I'm still not sold on McLovin' as Red Mist though. McLovin' looks younger than the main character, whereas in the book, he's supposed to look a little older and cooler than him.

I don't think they are. They mentioned it has pretty much everything in the comicswith some stuff added here and there.

The awesome part is that it was made completely independantly from start to finish, and THEN shopped around for distribution which means no studio had a part in making it. The only thing they have to worry about is making sure it's not rated NC-17.

I know someone who saw it at Butt Numb a Thon and I asked her about the similarities and she said that it is pretty faithful to the books even though she didn't read them but I asked if this part happened and if this other part happened.

After seeing Watchmen (and buying the comic afterwards and enjoying it more than the movie), i have to say the trailer makes me want to read the comic. i'm still going to be there, day one, because this looks like fun and i honestly didn't even know comics like this existed.

You know, as awesome as this movie looks, I fucking hate the whole "Hot school friend he's crushing on makes it obviously she'd fuck the superhero without knowing its him"
you should read the comic :)

As someone who has read and liked the comics, I still think this looks stupid as hell.

Nicholas Cage is already an automatic -10 points.

This was my biggest negative to the movie when I heard that he was cast. But if you saw the leaked comic-con footage, it just works with him for some reason. And I HATE Nic Cage.

Nicolas Cage is doing like two shitty movies this year, so this ought to balance it out. Hopefully, he does another dramatic film at some point in the near future; we've seen a lot of 'chewing the scenery' Cage recently and not nearly enough 'awesome actor' Cage.

Seems weird to have a bunch of Matrix slow-mo stuff in a movie about average people fighting crime, but it does look interesting.

What the hell? I saw the trailer for this before Wolfman, and they made it look like an eye-roll educing Disney movie. What the fuck were they thinking with that trailer? The real one makes it look infinitely more interesting.

Hit-Girl is highly trained, but yeah, aside from that, it's all regular.

That girl looks very annoying as hell. Will probably hate all the scenes with her in it.
I thought she's looked like the best thing in every trailer so far.

I'm putting together an Amazon order right now, so I'm going to toss the book in on a whim. If better not suck, GAF.

It came out like 2/3 weeks ago.
Is this an ongoing series?

I'm curious to check it out, but the book at Amazon:

To those that want to read the series it's based on, they recently released a HC trade:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/0785134352/?tag=neogaf0e-20

...has this description: "This title collects Kick-Ass numbered 1-6."

Is the series going to keep going, or is the initial six issue set a complete story?

Hit Girl was awesome in 500 Days of Summer. Haven't seen the redband trailer yet (on my phone) but I heard this came close to getting an NC-17 buy didn't require any cuts. Looking forward to it. :D

I think it's a finite series, but there's eight issues. I imagine that the delays meant that they put out the trade with only six.

Thanks. I'll wait until they put out a complete book to pick it up then.

Kick-Ass is a three volume series, and each volume is 8 issues long. Issue #8 just came out recently, so whole the first book is done now (and that's what the movie is based on).

That amazon link posted earlier does contain all 8 issues. The "6" is just a typo.

Well maybe in terms of kicking butt yeah...but in terms of attitude and it being a kid...which most likely she will have a spunky/girl power charisma....hopefully not though. I still want to see this.

Amazon has the description wrong. That book collects 1-8.

Book 1 is done. Maybe other books will come down the pipe later (maybe in the next year or two). But Bk1 is a complete story.

Get it, it's awesome.

Thanks.

I checked a few other sites like B&N to be sure, and they list is as books 1-8 as well. I will order it. If it sucks, I'll post something mean directed at you. So there.

You should get it at a comic store. The cover is way better.

I'm sorry to offend comic book fans but Mark Millar is shit and so was the comic.

I hope Vaughn injects his own awesome flavor into this film (it looks fun so far).
