New Lego Movie the Videogame screenshots.

I've never played a LEGO game, and this intrigues me. What is a good games to start with? I may be able to play on multiplayer with a couple friends, but I'd also like to know which is the best game to play solo.

Lego Marvel is great and if you have a Wii U Lego City Undercover is a great single player game.

No, one of the worst in the series. Get LEGO Star Wars III. The puzzles are actually difficult in that one, and the gameplay is surprisingly satisfying.

Have you never played the other ones? Avengers is bad on so many fronts, as a thread a little while ago explained.

I've really enjoyed Lego Marvel so far. Better then Lego Underground on WiiU.

I don't know why people say this about Lego Avengers. Have you played any of the other ones before it? Like Star Wars II and III, Pirates, etc.

What other ones have you played? I agree Marvel is still pretty fun, but it has some glaring problems compared to other Lego games.

Will this be made by a different studio then the other games? I despise the Lego series as they are piss boring but, this looks interesting to me. I'm just curious if it will be the same boring game made for 3 year old difficulty.

This looks pretty nice, I don't think the name could be any worse though, unless they'd bundle the Blu Ray with the game.

LEGO THE MOVIE:THE GAME - THE COMPLETE EXPERIENCE

So is this also going to be open-world, similar to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes? Because that may have been one of the, if not THE, best next-gen launch title.

I've played most of them apart from the Lord of the Rings one. I agree the Star Wars ones are brilliant. Especially if your are into Star Wars.

The Pirates of the Caribbean was also quite decent.

Most of them are extremely enjoyable. Probably my favourite gaming series taken as a whole. Such a brilliant concept and extremely well executed.

I don't have one (yet). :(
I imagine (from what I'm reading in the other page) that the 3DS version is quite different, although I'm flirting with the thought considering its portability...

If all games are generally decent, I may just go with the franchise I feel more hype by March (when I plan to play one). I'm a fan of all the licences they've used, but I'm sorta between Indy and LotR right now. Thanks for your recommendations!

By the way, I imagine PS3 has crisper graphics, but as a fan of the Wii Remote / Nunchuck combo, I gotta ask; will I miss out on the visuals more than I will win in controls by choosing the Wii versions?

I'm still not sure how they'll make a full game out of 1 movie when before they needed 3 or more films.

My issue with Avengers was the repetitive, flat levels. It's just like, do this thing. Ok, I did it. Next part.

Pirates of the Caribbean had some very clever puzzles, if easy (for the most part; some of them are like "OOOOHH that's how you do it; heh clever." and Lego Star Wars III has excellent, difficult but rewarding levels and gameplay. I also LOVED the crazy rooms and things that you could access when playing in free play. Star Wars III really perfected free play in lego games in my opinion.

I haven't finished Avengers, but none of the levels I have played have been particularily clever.

But worst of all, it's just a pain to play. The animations are TOO. LONG. In star wars III, double jumping and attacking with a light saber was always quick but just long enough to be satisfying. Doing hulks smash thing just takes way to long, and does hardly any damage. You feel like a bad ass doing that in Star Wars, and I was sure doing a hulk smash was going to be awesome. It isn't. It takes forever, and you're usually just much better off switching to another character to take on bad guys. Changing to Bruce Banner also takes WAY. TOO. LONG. I just want to play the game, damnit. Stop making me wait for your pretty-only-the-first-time-you-watch-them animations.

I hadn't really watched a whole lot of Star Wars before I played III. I only played it because it came free with my 360's 320 gig hard drive. And I had watched or even really hard about NONE of the Clone Wars stuff. But dang it Star Wars III is just so good.

What all systems do you have, btw?

Lego Indy 1 is ok, but sort of boring. Not a bad game by any means like II, but just not as good as some of the others. It's not a bad intro game though. You can't go wrong playing it first; just don't get discouraged if it seems boring. I haven't played LoTR, but what I played didn't impress me as much as some of those before it; still pretty fun though, but like Avengers (though not as bad) it had issues with over long animations and cutscenes. The cutscenes are long because of dialogue. Previous games did an excellent job of communicating with short animations of miming and stuff. It was brilliant, funny, and shorter.

I really, REALLY recommend Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars III (the Clone Wars).

Looks awesome. If anyone out there is into the actual Lego toys, they have minifigures that were for preorder at Walmart and EB games and currently Best Buy has a PJ Emmet figure you can get when you buy the game this week.

Despite the ad, there's also Wii U, 3DS and 360 versions of the game...dunno if they're gonna have the figures with those versions or not though.

From last gen, I have DS, Wii, PSP and PS3. From this gen, just a 3DS at the moment. So, basically the game I don't have access to currently is Lego City Undercover.

I would get them for PS3 then. Mobile versions are severely modified down on content.

I agree that Lego Marvel was disappointing. Probably my second least favorite of the series. I think Pirates was worse. My wife and I didn't like that one at all. Lego Batman 2 is my favorite. I loved the hub world in that one.

So do we know how this game plays yet? Strange we haven't gotten any previews yet.

Yeah, it's odd we haven't heard anything about it yet. I am worried that it won't have a hub world like the recent Lego games. The open world parts with unlocking characters and getting gold bricks has been one of my favorite parts of the recent games and if this one doesn't have that I will likely skip it for now.

Someone else made the comment to me earlier that I had not thought about, but actually makes sense. This is the first time that they are launching with a movie as a direct tie in, and it's entirely possible that they don't want previews for the game to spoil the movie for readers. I am hopeful that this is the case, because this is the only one (not counting handheld versions) that we have not gotten any in depth previews for and TT has gotten pretty good at making Lego games.

Still it's hard to believe that we don't know some even basic information, like if there is a hub world in this or not.

Yeah, I'm also wondering if we're going to get a PC version on Fri. For Marvel I was able to get it day and date on PC, but not sites have shown a PC version so far.

Have not seen any mention of a pc version yet to be honest. The movie is apparently getting some pretty fantastic critical reception though so I really hope that TT did not phone this in. This is the first game my daughter is really excited for a video games release, she asks about it every...single...day.

It will also be her second movie in theaters.

What did you dislike about Pirates? It had some really easy puzzles, but at least they were clever unlike Indy.

I think Pirate's main issues were technical. The dynamic split screen was horribly implemented. I played it solo, though, so that really didn't affect me all that much.

I'm excited for this one. I think LEGO City Undercover is the best LEGO game they've done yet, so I'm excited for another one that isn't based on an existing property (though I'm sure they had to stay inline with the film).

What are you talking about, this is actually the first lego game that actually uses real lego for the whoe scenery.
Replicate the exact look the movie has is nearly impossible to the consoles this is going to be released. It would need a really amazing lightning engine for it to look reallistic, something im sure the public this has been done for desent give a fuck. Maybe in the future.

You answered your own question, that's exactly what I was talking about. This game looks like a wonderful step up, but that doesn't mean we can dream of a game that looks like the film does.

Why is it, that the other LEGO games are based on movies and I loved them...

..but because this is based on a LEGO movie, I'm very skeptical and not really interested?

I'm stoked for this and will download it on Xbox One as soon as its out. Traveller's Tales does some of the most consistently great work in the business, in my opinion.

Star Wars and Lord of the Rings have been my favorite of the licensed ones. If you have a Wii U, City Undercover is fantastic.

I didn't actually know they were doing a game on the movie, that's pretty cool, and TT to make it is even better.

I don't think i've played a bad Lego game in years.

If you have a Wii U and want to get your feet wet first, Lego Batman 2 is $19.99 on the eShop. Not as good as Lego City Undercover IMO, but worth a play.

Unless you're trying to be funny and failing, it's Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Or Lego Marvel. But it's not Lego Avengers.

What a weird, weird turn of events. A movie was made from a franchise that was based on a toy line that had licensing deals with other franchises, only to get a video game adaptation of the movie, which was already based on video games.

I hope it's of a Lego City: Undercover kind of quality.
It looks good thus far.

I have a feeling this game will be nowhere near as good. Is there even a hub world in this?

Hopefully the Steam price is right like it has been for the other recent Lego games. Strange though that Pirates of the Caribbean hasn't shown up yet on there.

I hope this is at least as good as Lego Batman 2 or City. I have to admit, Marvel was a disappointment.

My favorite Lego games so far.

1. Lego City Undercover
2. Lego Batman 2
3. Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars (Surprisingly very good)
4. Lego Star Wars Original Trilogy
5. Lego Lord of the Rings

It's my favorite, but I have not played Batman 2 all the way, and do not have a Wii U, so we'll see.

I still have a feeling I'll end up having LSW3:TCW over LBM2.

I got burned by lego marvel. I went in expecting a really fun game based on all the reviews and impressions and it ended up being a snoozefest. Its cool to see all the marvel characters for sure but the level design is terrible, combat is so slow and felt unresponsive, the hub world is boring and the jokes lack the zing of the previous installments. Such a disappointment. Im definitely going to wait a while before I touch this lego movie game.

It sounds like you need a large dose of Lego City Undercover. It's the best Lego game so far.

LEGO Marvel was pretty brilliant, so I'm in.

And before that Chettlar dude says anything... no, I haven't played any previous LEGO games nor will I ever. Move along.

To be honest, it was probably the source material. My wife only kind of likes the movies and I outright dislike them.

Also I don't even put the second Indy game on the list since it was like half a game at best.

Is this commercial new?

Batman is playable? I wonder who else. If you can use the LEGO ninja turtles I'm sold, haha.

Well Michelangelo is definitely in the movie so it's probably a good chance that he's in. There are at least 90 characters ranging from Lord of the rings, Abraham Lincoln, green ninjago, and a bunch of others.

Someone suggested they have been tight on info for the game as to not spoil the movie (also why it's releasing on Friday with the movie instead of Tuesday). I thought the movie was going to be a quick cash in Also but it seems some real quality went into it, let's hope The same is true for the game.
