(new?) little video snip about FFXIII developement

Whatever machine he's rendering that on has to be a beast. He was moving that model around in realtime with no problem. Can you work on a pc and preview using the ps3 in that same window?

Man i hope the JP Playstation store gets some HD feeds of the FFXIII games. Would love some gameplay but i'd even take full CG scenes at this point. After the debacle of the DQ announcement this week i need some HD lovin' :lol

People on this forum are quite funny. The PS3 is a beast, EASILY the most powerful console on the planet. But it is a beast that doesn't have a massive advantage in power over a 360. And its 7600-level GPU can't hold a candle to today's high-end PC graphics cards, either. So why (even in the hands of a super-talented developer like Square) do you people expect visuals that look like this in-game? You're setting yourself unrealistic expectations. Even Gears of War, currently the best looking console game ever created, didn't live up to the AA/AF-ridden original bullshots (it lacks both). So until you see this game running in real-time, what's with the fap-fap over something that is clearly not being worked on with a PS3 devkit? Take this for what it appears to be: cutscene material that will augment the great experience that is sure to be FFXIII - next year perhaps we'll all see some actual in-game footage as well (of which we can all fap to).

Games get better looking as the generation goes on. Square are magicians when it comes to graphics programming, and in particular into putting detail where the eye is drawn to - making things look more sophisticated than they really are. They also have an astronomical budget and huge amounts of man power. We have no reason to doubt that they've shown two real time engine demonstrations for the PS3 so far. The only question is whether this particular model is real time or not, and it's a bit hard to tell from cam footage of a computer screen.

Don't count nextgen systems out just yet.

We've already seen real-time footage of the game - probably in-game at that - so I don't see your issue with the possibility that the city could be rendered in real-time at a certain distance. I don't think anyone is implying that the model of that city is scaled such that you would descend into it, at scale, without some kind of LOD model going on.

Yes, realtime in-game footage with an engine in its infancy (if it was even started at that point)... And the FF7 remake clip was realtime, too, right? :lol (paging Killzone, come in!)

Up close it's pretty clear those demonstrations were real time, or at least significantly inferior to any recent CG Square has produced. So let's just wait and see.

Since Jump Fiesta pretty much sucked for FFXIII info, when do you reckon we will see some actual footage of the game?
well we got those two pics and some very vague story tidbits

I was trying to figure out who hat dude was reminding me of for a while.

I've gotta say that the bizarro urban fashion statement put out by the black hat is a little incongruent with the style I was kinda picking up from the first trailer and Lightning's outfit, but maybe it'll make sense when I can see the guy's whole costume.

What is he doing with his right hand? It's not like he's holding a cane or anything. What's with Nomura and his hiphop obsession? Anyway that shot looks awesome, can't wait to see whatever footage that comes out soon.
