New Mario Maker DLC: Keys+Doors and more

Keys?

No slopes for you!
Slopes sound like a lot of work if they never planned for them, think it would be saved for a sequel.

Mario 3 and Mario World have hill sliding sprites for all modes (except Fire SMW seems to use that spot for fireball throwing?), so they at least considered it at some point.

Dedicated slopetool separated from the ground tool.

Alternatively: multi-select a chunk of ground, grab a corner, and raise and lower it to the angle you want.

Still, can we have no backgrounds and music. Those are not super hard to do. Just give some color flip alternates so everything is not so damn samey.

The coins are a fantastic addition. I hope people don't abuse them and hide those coins in ridiculous places or completely blind spots.

When they first started shaking the Thwomp I thought we were going to get Thwimps.

The new coins will be great.

My biggest request from day one. I need to edit and republish everything. Combined with checkpoints, Metroidvania, in particular, just became a whole lot more viable to implement properly.

I recognize a number of you from the Mario Maker OT and from playing your stages. This update was made for you.

What if you lock multiple keys behind one door but not the other? Suddenly taking the wrong locked door could spell trouble, by being unable to complete a level or completing a really hard part then realising you did it in the wrong order.

I've played certain maze-like levels like that where you get stuck due to hidden blocks once you go past a point that leads to a dead end.

I've been asking for Star Coins since forever. This ain't it, but it's good enough for me to be foaming at the mouth.

Gimme gimme gimme

They added the ability to go through the levels and see where the Death Markers are! Don't remember that being said in the US Direct.

That's really cool. Overall the best update since launch.

I wonder what the completion percentage for Super Expert levels will be (expert is below 10%).

Oh sweet! Finally I can see where all the people died in my levels that mostly take place in the sub-worlds.

Red Pink coins are neat. I'm thinking of adding a few (three each?) to my levels without any doors. Just for the sake of having something to find for a bogus 100% completion rate.

I am afraid of how many times I shall end this mode =x

So these are the amiibo without costumes

- Shovel Knight
- Ryu
- Roy
- Bayonetta
- Corrin
- Cloud
- Famicom/NES ROB
- Mii Brawler
- Mii Swordfighter
- Mii Gunner
- Gold Mega Man
- Waddle Dee
- Shadow Mewtwo

I assume all of them (except maybe Shovel Knight, G Mega Man, Shadow Mewtwo and alt colored ROB) will get costumes this time around, since Wolf Link has a costume now (via amiibo and super expert).

It's so good that they added in keys, it can really mix up gameplay, and I like how the key follows you like yoshi's island eggs instead of being held like other items.

The key thing is crazy. The possibilities of how the keys can be hidden are so vast that there are likely to become a lot of reallly tough puzzle levels. Hopefully people don't go crazy with them and ruin the platforming fun with hidden block search fests.

You'll take your Milon's Secret Castle and you'll like it.

Marionseries has had them since Mario 3. I don't see why they can't implement it.

They would have to add new animations and physics to enemies and items for when they are on a slope. They aren't happening. It would be cool for a sequel though. (along with water blocks)

I just finally beat expert 100 Mario challenge a few days ago and felt like I was good at the game and they go and do this :(

(This was the best news in the direct)

I really hope beating Super Expert doesn't unlock Expert costumes.

It'd be pretty garbage to go through that madness only to get a costume that could have been a lot easier to get...
