New Mario Sports Superstars Trailer

Man, baseball video games are boring.

This looks pretty awful. I'm waiting to see how soccer fairs, but this looks like it's leaning a bit too hard into realistic. Maybe it'll end up fun, but I'll likely never buy it because it's on the fucking 3ds and I just want local mp

You're crazy. Play Super Mega Baseball and prepare yourself for addiction.

Not sure about this compilation, though. Watching Mario play soccer again and knowing Next Level Games had nothing to do with it feels wrong. Gimme my new Strikers game! Golf should still be pretty awesome, of course.

Would have love a game with all major sports. Hockey, baseball, soccer, basketball. Horse Racing??? Wtf..

Aaaanyway, there is Baseball in it, I think I will grab it!!

So, what should I expect? 5 full games in 1 or 5 minigames in 1?

I'm talking about the quality of the games, for example in rio Football felt like an minigame far from Mario Strikers

Never forget

Genuinely one of the worst games Nintendo released in that last decade. Unforgivable.

Models look great. I personally hope they keep releasing these mega packs if it means the return of dodgeball. Really had a love of fun with dodgeball in Sports Mix

I still have hopes this is coming to Switch, it just has to be. Nothing screams 'summer time' to me more than a Mario Sports game, and man, I would love this to be on the Switch to play on the TV and in bed.

There were a distinct lack of different stadiums in that trailer. I really hope thr baseball game in this collection isn't the baseball equivalent of Ultra Smash.

Cool. Arcade Sports games are one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to the Switch for. I love that genre and not many publishers seem to cater to it these days.

4 out of the 5 sports had stand alone games.

Tennis
Baseball
Golf
Soccer.

Bring back Tennis with RPG elements, please.

You linked to the same trailer in the OP that's only showing one stadium?

edit: nevermind, I can see an indoor and an outdoor one. Still hoping for more of the imaginative ones from MSB.

I'm a little concerned about the content in all of them. How can Golf in Sports Superstars stand alongside World Tour when it's still on sale?

Mario Superstar Baseball is a true hidden gem on the Gamecube. The pitching mechanics, special abilities, huge cast of unlockable characters, and fun stadiums added so much depth to the game. Monty Mole is the GOAT fielder. God, I love that game so much. So many hours in that local multiplayer.

While this would be fun on Switch, I'm more than happy to have this on the 3DS as long as it supports single cart multiplayer like Mario Party and Super Smash Bros. Whenever my sister and I travel together somewhere, we always play those games. As long as this game has that feature, I'm in.

I'd rather have a built ground-up sports mix game made for the Switch than a staight up port of this, in all honesty. As much as I like it, the amount of content that's probably there doesn't justify being put on something like the Switch all HDed up.

The game is made because there is already Mario Tennis and Golf games and this let's them reuse Camelot engines along with some Namco sports.

A Switch port is dumb because it would look noticeably worse than Ultra Smash. They would be better served by an expanded Ultra Smash port or a Golf game or a combination of just those two.

Never forget

Yea so ?

what about it ? its still fun game to play from time to time. I do not regret purchasing it.

Yeah. As someone who has little care for the single player stuff it didn't bother me. I did miss the actual different environments and some actual weird modes though.

But overall it's HD arcade Mario Tennis and great for local multiplayer which for me is it's core purpose.

It's not worth $50 which is unfortunate as it feels like the one Wii U game that will never really go dramatically down in price. Though I got a new copy for $25 from Walmart a few months ago.

Are we surprised?

3DS should have been retired before now

Yes yes I know exactly why it hasnt been but I was hoping switch would force up forward

Are we going to have Nintendo continue to try and push development of games that the system can barely handle?

Doesn't the simplicity fit into what they want for the 3DS moving forward? A cheaper video game option for parents to buy their kids. It is a travesty that this game is simplified and dumbed down and lacking any of the charm or options or depth that Mario sports titles once had, but perhaps they want to introduce kids to this style of game on their cheaper game options, and then offer the deeper experiences when they've upgraded to the Switch later on.

It's still obvious they are phoning it in with this title in general, though. Just look at the amiibo cards, for crying out loud!

You'd think it'd be Tennis and Golf, since Camelot made Ultra Smash, Pro Tour, and Tennis Open. I mean, how much extra work would they need to do?

But I will be very unsurprised if those games have shallow mechanics compared to the retail games an unexplained reason.

Why this game isn't a day one Switch port? no idea...

It will be significantly simplified, or it wouldn't make business sense.

This already makes no business sense.

Giving it the budget to have somewhat fulll featured 5 games would make business sense if they wanted to push it to potentially sell millions as the franchises used to do. And cross gen with the Switch.

This game will bomb as did Ultra Tennis. Might as well have had camelot make a eshop jrpg...

This could have been a really awesome Switch launch title or game but yeah I have to imagine this game was developed in a vacuum and trying to capitalize on 3DS late life boom

Oh well

Much like Smash, Mario Maker, and Hyrule heroes we have another gimped 3DS game that has no business being on hardware this weak

Ehhhh.... Ill peel back on the Smash comment.... The way they got that game to work on 3DS hardware at all is very impressive in my mind.... Why was the same engineering not applied to other "hardware pushing" console lite games on the system?

I really don't like it when it seems obvious that Nintendo doesn't quite know what to do with their franchises...

I hate that they are second guessing their decision to focus on switch and again devoting significant resources to 3DS development

this is just going to hurt their global presence in the long run and undermine the switch appeal to 3DS owners in Japan.

you'll play paper jam and you'll like it.

It's got all your Favorite Paper Mario.....oh wait

Well it blends the varying worlds of ML and
.....um hmm....

...I can recommend some good mario rpg fan games

Boy 3DS games are dated looking (by responses this looks good though?).

I hope we get good Nintendo sports games on the Switch.
