no i beleive the fps mode died a long time ago.

all you get now is playable over the shoulder gun mode and a standing still fps look mode, right?

also disappointed like some of you at the graphics....looks like kojima was right when he said they could not achieve waht they wanted to with their target videos back in 2005.

just look at the indoor scenes....that wooden door looks genuinely last gen?

The character models almost seem to jump right off the screen; the fidelity is just incredible.

I dunno. I guess I'm still a little...lukewarm on the earthy color palette, but I suppose it fits the backdrop pretty well. Still -- there's no denying this game is an absolute visual masterpiece... :-o

reminds of counter-strike source. aka. really clean looking and stuff, but nothing really next-gen draw dropping impressive. whatever, kojima said they overestimated what they could pull of with the ps3, and it's not like they had really nice screensots prior to this.

edit: i havent touched MGO in a while but i was under the impression that you couldnt really move around and do everything in fps....i know you can shoot from fps view (that muzzle flash is insanely annoying tho!) but it kept pulling me out of fps view for game play.

Sounds like you haven't touched MGO at all. I played matches completely in FPS.

Elements of MGS4 are stunning, and I could not be more excited about it, but the visuals in Uncharted are so far beyond MGS4 that it boggles the mind.

i dunno, its just something subtle for me. uncharted has really awesome lighting and textures but i just like the clean washed out look of mgs4. i know most people hate washed out colors bad but i think it works here and i think it works with killzone and gears.

admittedly, i think the bright colors work for uncharted but something about mgs4s visuals appeals to me. maybe its just the context.

But MGS4 will probably have a much smoother framerate and no tearing (uncharted had it BAD) and more action onscreen, so...

Two of my favorite games ever, I don't want to argue about this, I just want to splooge on both games at the same time.

I do understand what you're getting at. Uncharted looks more realistic, but I prefer the way MGS4 looks. Not at all a slight against Uncharted.

People also have to remember that the game is being done in the same style as the other games... that is with those post processing filters. I think the game is supposed to have that look.
