new New Super Mario Bros pics

Look at the difference between the first build and what it is right now:

I hope the second pic is what became of the level in the first, cause man that shit looks pretty bland and I wouldn't want to play in that. The realistic clouds and unimaginitve backgrounds really made it look bleh. Glad Shiggy probably reads GAF. :)

edit: And the ground! Seriously, it looks like the first game could pose as a flash game made by any amateur

Miyamoto himself told in one of his numerous Paris-interviews that all Mario 64 DS-minigames will be in New Super Mario Bros, many of which will also include multiplayer. :)

Aside from the mini games and mario becoming a giant, are any of the standard game levels entirely new?
I think most, if not all, of them are new. They just have a retro feel to them. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

I thought the minigames were the same ones in Mario64 DS. But yeah, the core game is all new, just old school inspired.

Oh boy, if Nintendo includes an unlockables perfectly emulated version of the original SMB in this game, then INSTANT BEST GAME EVER STATUS.

They can do it! I mean they have it right here:

The question is, are they willing to give it up for free?

My DS has been setting at the corner of my desk for quite a while, maybe this game will bring it back to life. Looks awesome. Retro-gaming takes a remix.

People shouldn't be so shocked that MAF and Drinky actually have interest in this game. Most Nintendo trolls are disgruntled former Nintendo fans, so signs of what they used to love should and often do cause positive reactions.

I can't see that happening if they are still making and selling the original SMB for GBA.

UGH. The GBA version is fucking FAAAAR from perfect. It looks like ass. I just pulled it out the other day and it was unplayable. Even the GBC version is better (basically zoomed in but not sacrificing many lines).

And I know what my problem is with the games look. All of the patterns on the mushrooms, hills, etc are too symmetrical. There is no realistic diffusion so it's a bit disturbing to the eye.

The 3 circles on the bottom screen are where the 3 shines go per level. 3 are hidden and when you find one, they fly down into a circle on the bottom screen. That way you always know how many are left to find.

This game looks awesome. Can't wait.

The funny thing is that if the japanese box art came over here as a greatest hits box art, everyone would complain about the yellow mark of shame.

This game does look wonderful though. The DS has already surpassed every single expectation I ever had for it.

You know. There is a difference between having an all yellow case and a simple yellow mark on the cover. The yellow box complements the art work so I see no flaw in the design.

I just find it funny how much emphasis some people put on boxarts. I admit that I like to have nice boxarts, but when I get a game, I take the card out, throw it in my DS pouch, and toss the box in a cardboard box that sits in my closet, so I guess I just don't really care all that much what it looks like.

1) It's a bandanna mask...

2) It's akin to the Iggy/Larry battles in SMW (not Roy), you fail at Mario...

Does Baby Bowser have lipstick on?

Is this just Roy Koopa part 2? =|

Oh shit!

When I first see this pic I think it's one of the koopas sun, but now, look better, it's just this stupid Koopa Jr with a mask!

This suck!

Man, can't wait for this. Not too keen on the lime green grass and pastel colors everywhere though. Or the pre-rendered CG look. Yoshi's Island has spoiled me.

Game looks great. Will be a definite buy for me.

As an aside, I don't get how some people get so worked up about box art and box colors. I don't mean to be disparaging, to each his own and all that, so if that's your thing that's cool. I just don't get what the big deal is though.

But maybe that's the same feeling people wonder about me when I say I wish all Zeldas looked like A Link To The Past ;)

They still can't do a 1:1 pixel perfect emulation unless they let a bit of the image go onto a second screen. However, they can get closer than the NES Classics versions.
