New Nike ad — "Equality"

Lol now they can't wear basketball shoes, drink Coca Cola, Starbucks, or Budweiser?

If these big companies keep on sending messages, these Trumpets will be even more disenfranchised than they were before the election.

It's almost like this giant corporation doesn't give 2 shits about these issues and is doing this strictly for profit and a better marketing image!

Even worse, those companies steal money from the poors then say they are for equality. The freedom to be all equally poor yo.

And yes, not paying taxes is literally stealing from the poors, stealing our roads, schools and health care. Fuck off Nike and all of the other megacorps who are for "equality"

For being such a giant in its industry, Nike is very transparent about their contractors.

Actually, in general, ever since they ran into problems more than a decade ago about their sweatshops, they have made their data more readily available

Yep. I'm actually more inclined to purchase nike than other athletic brands because they're more transparent about their labor practices. The outrage in the 90's worked.

The term equality has been exploited for thousands of years and people still arguing the fact that everyone is equal. A person's life is short, it should have been used for nourishing ones skills instead of feeling superior for nothing, thank you Nike. Next time, raise the wages of your employees please.

Was wondering what kind of equality they were talking about.

It's a Nike USA ad. It does not make much sense considering pro sports there.

Equal playing field, not outcome. Wasn't really a hard concept to grasp. They literally keep showing you the playing fields.

Marketing teams and internal employment coordinators are separate branches in every company. What's wrong with a little positive marketing here and there?

i much rather have a soulless for-profit corporation that hypocritically preaches inclusiveness and equality (Apple, Nike) and equality than a soulless for-profit corporation that 'honestly' kisses president Trump's ass (Intel, urgh.)
It's not like any of them pay all of their taxes or do not exploit their workers in any way.

Nice ad, nice campaign.

So y'all against these horrible shops ain't buying cellphones or Nike stuff I take it?

You know every person in here admonishing Nike for making a generic equality campaign is looking forward to some electronic made in part from the souls of small children and the sweat of an underpaid, suicidal proletariat. Bring on the Foxconn game consoles and the cell phones made with blood minerals because cheap and convenient entertainment supersedes the hard work of being a truly good person every time.

I saw this last night on their site when I was looking at some clothes. Was actually a pleasant surprise even if it's easy to be cynical about the whole thing. Given the current state of affairs, I'll take the positive message tho

People like to admonish Nike et al for for foreign production with cheap labor while simultaneously refuse to spend and laugh at those who spend more than $200 on sneakers produced in developed nations, like Common Projects and Buttero. Can't have it both ways. Nike has definitely made strides but we shouldn't give them a pass until their supplier audit reports show a 100% rating. They're close and they have set those goals, so I'm OK with supporting them.

Trump supporters by the end of this year:

"Fuck food. Fuck clothes. Who needs them anyway, when they're all run by CUCKS!"

Yeah.

I am like, that is nice Nike, but how about you fix your own company's issues before tackling "Equality"
I don't see why they can't make political statements given the current climate. Corporations have influence regardless of their issues and if it helps the cause, then I'll welcome it.

I actually went to Dicks Sporting Goods today to pick up a hoodie. Walked right past the Under Armor section and picked up a Nike hoodie. Feels good, man.

One thing I always loved about playing basketball as a kid was connecting with teammates regardless of race/background. I remember one play I was dribbling down the court about the half court line. I looked at my team mate closing in around the rim. He was a tall black kid who didn't have much and I was a white country boy, but at that one moment we looked at each other and read each others mind. I threw the ball from just past the 3 point line for the ally oop and the crowd went nuts. This Nike ad just reminded me of that moment and why I loved playing with my team mates. We all had one goal and that was to win games and didn't care about anything else. Ball is life.

Good lad.

Speaking of New Balance.

Its weird to me is New Balance is kinda in shadows of Nike, Adidas, Reebok etc over here in the States yet in Korea its like the biggest shoe brand. How the hell did that happen?

People are already shitting on this by saying maybe they should treat their factory workers equally.

Sure but then no one buys their stuff, since it costs more. The US public has shown again and again that it cares more about cheap goods than the conditions in which they were made.

Well actually they blew up over the last few years, they've become pretty popular. But the trump thing killed them for me, don't know if it has for others.

Yeah. So they're knocking down open doors then. Big whoop.

They're not talking about playing field btw, it's about opportunity. There's no such thing as equal playing field in sports. Pro sports is constructed upon inequality.

Nike got their shit together in regards to sweatshops years ago. Some of you look real fucking stupid with your nonsense. But by all means keep spreading bullshit because you don't want to fact check.

Could at least link us some those facts. I don't keep up-to-date on the status of Nike manufacturing. You'd think they'd have done some massive marketing to let everyone know they've turned around since being the poster child of sweatshops.
