New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Edition for Europe

It´s quite clear they´re not looking at how many games you buy for Nintendo systems.

I´m thinking they mostly look at WHEN you bought your devices, i.e. at launch or close to it vs. later on/after a price drop.

I bought my og 3DS in may 2011 and my XL on launch day 2012 .

Their process is probably closer to this:

Yeah, making new accounts every time I move country (which is every few years due to my partner's work) would be going overboard I feel, but I get your point. A shame Nintendo accounts can't simply travel with you, especially if you keep using a machine from a previous region/country and have purchases on that machine already, but alas.

I'll await their response but will probably go for the option of having it ship to my parents then.

Isn't there a way to transfer an account, though?

I got an email, since I was already given someone elses place the other day, I'll pass my spot along too. Anyone from UKgaf want it?

Edit: I sent a PM to Chopper to see whether he got an email, since I know they wanted one.

Didn't realize it but I got an email 2 hours ago. Must have been part of the 2nd wave or something. I still don't know if I should get this. I might just get an XL instead.

I know there's one above but I'm not sure if there's a queue, so I'll say if anyone has had an email and wants to pass it this way at some point I'd really appreciate it!

Welp, contacted NoA about us getting this in NA. Response was pretty much as expected:

Hello Victor,

Thanks for contacting us. I can certainly understand your desire to see this promotion from the European Club Nintendo program come to the North American Club Nintendo program. I haven't heard of plans to include anything like this as a Club Nintendo promotion, but I will document your comments and make them available to other departments to use as they see fit.

New Club Nintendo rewards and promotions are added periodically, so it’s possible that what you’re looking for may be available sometime in the future. However, Club Nintendo programs in other regions are separate and distinct from ours. While it is possible that portions of these other programs may make their way here, there are no guarantees.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

Guess we'll just sit tight and hope it happens.

would like an email if someone has an invite to spare to purchase one. am ready with the rupees :) (or currency of your preference) to say thanks. Im uk GAF

Personally at this point I'd probably be satisfied with Ambassador cover plates for CN members, that way I can put them on a black system. While I'm a bit jealous of all these people who already have a New 3DS, what I really want is to just know when I can buy mine in NA (hopefully soon.) Seems like an announcement Direct is overdue.

Got the email, or rather my sons Nintendo ID did, but is the screen bigger on this than the og 3DS? i'd rather pay for an XL than another small screen version, though it does look very very nice.

How limited are they? any indication?

The screen is around 10% bigger than the OG 3DS'. From 3.53 to 3.88 inches.

So the PC transfer (copying everything from current SD to a new Micro) will transfer all settings for eshop, licenses and all that. In other words no different to doing it via system transfer tool?

You always do system transfer, but you reach a part where you decide how you transfer SD stuff, at which point you can opt to do that via PC, among other options.

We bought five for all of us in the family! Geez... bring it to the states! Two of them were at launch and the other three were later because we got the Animal Crossing and Link Between Worlds limited edition 3DS XLs. I am so jealous right now.

Just got a call saying I'd passed an interview and gotten a full time job, went onto my emails and there was my New 3DS email.

Today turned around pretty fast. Good luck to everyone else out there waiting for one. Since they're sending these offers to random people and not people who registered interest there might be quite a few more "waves" of emails due to a high percentage of people who aren't interested.

Congratulations! You, sir, have had one amazing day!

I think i must be an idiot.

I go the mail, it tells me to go to the Nintendo store and log in with my club nintendo account details.

I log in to the club nintendo website fine but the same details won't let me log in to the store.

I tried to do the "reset the password" on the store and i got a mail saying its not connected to the account.

What am i doing wrong? : /

If you are from the UK, it's possible it's asking you for the store account, which is different.

After signing into Club Nintendo to gain access, you need to sign in to your Nintendo UK Store account when you go to pay, or if you don't have one, you need to create one

The U.S. site states, below the sign in area, that most users are not registered, unless you have had a service request or have ordered from Nintendo directly. Have you ever done either of those and does it show that on yours?

Good luck and keep us posted!

JoeM86 was bang on the money.

I'm almost certainly braindead after work but the wording of the mail made it seem like the club nintendo details were universal and shared across both systems. Turns out they are not.

I had to sign in with those to get to add the 3ds to the basket then create a store account and all was good.

Thanks for your help guys. I love gaf : )

I just need to justify this to my self as i already own a 3ds and 3ds XL (and a DS).

It was even more confusing if you opened the link from a mobile as it redirected straight to the Nintendo store mobile site which as you say has a different log-in to Club Nintendo.

As a 3ds and XL owner the 3d headtracking is worth the upgrade alone as it actually makes the 3d enjoyable to use for extended periods without breaking effect every time you slightly move.

Only problem I find is, if you move the handheld more than about 30cm, maybe 40 or 50cm or more away from you, and/or the console is down on your lap or something, the headtracking doesn't work very well. Outside of that the 3D does work a lot better.

Also those white ambassador plates will make you look like a baller :D

I don't even know if this was still applicable for the 3DS XL but, when I got my original 3DS I always put a cloth between the two screens as I was told the bottom one can damage the top, I continued to do so on my 3DS XL as well, anyone know if this is still required for N3DS?

Thanks

Nope, the screens don't touch anymore!

Is there a list of people who are still looking for one? I'm considering letting someone else buy mine from the store, since I'm probably not going to buy it myself.
(No, don't quote/pm me asking to be the person, at least not yet).

Is there any safe way to do it without giving away my CN/nintendo store details? I assume so since people have already done this, but I'm not familiar with the black magic required.
