According to Cheesemeister's closed thread, it's also Wii U related. Maybe we can get some of the announced Wii U games release dates as well.

I supect we will see Pikmin 3 and/or Wii Fit U dates given. Golden Week is almost in 2 months in Japan and Nintendo always has a semi big title coming out at that time.

I hope they going to announce some Atlus games for Europe. I would love to play SMT4 in Europe. But what i want most is a date for Rune Factory 4 and Fantast Life.

I expect the following:

  • Fire Emblem DLC
  • Luigi's Mansion stuff
  • Animal Crossing
  • Miiverse unified across WiiU/3DS
  • New XL systems
anything above and beyond this is totally awesome.

The only way it's as good as the last Direct is if we get release dates for Animal Crossing and it's before Summer and Miiverse comes out on the 3DS very soon.

Still no link for a Japanese direct?

Anyway, posted in the Media Create thread, but might as well post here:

Nintendo Japan website has a 9 minute video of Iwata apologizing for the stock problems for AC, and explaining why/offering alternatives (download version).

Basically, the game requires a larger space for save data than any other 3DS game, and needs to use a special type of ROM (SLC-NAND) to save the data to quickly. It's more expensive than MLC-NAND (which is used by all other 3DS games), faster and lasts a lot longer (about 10-20x as many writes). It's because the game uses this type of ROM that they can't just use cartridges from other games.

Problems with creating these cartridges may also have a hand in AC not being available worldwide; they can't even create enough for Japan let alone other regions.

Basically, I wouldn't count on a date for AC just yet.

Wii U stuff is going to be Need For Speed, Deus Ex, a release date for Colonial Marines, and an ETA on the Rayman demo...
