New Nioh characters revealed

I missed both demos (I downloaded the first, but didn't realise it was timed!) - but I am so on board for this game. From what little I've seen it looks janky, in a good way - like Demon's Souls was janky in a good way.

I really hope this game does well so that we may end up with a new japanese franchise. The designs are superb and I'm really glad Team Ninja got the chance to show off their skills this way.

Doesn't sound like a release date is close...
 
Realistically I only expect to be able to pick a different character as a co-op visitor, so it won't look like William twins every time. But it'd be so awesome if you could choose after beating the game - when the story is over and the real game probably begins, with twilight stages and gear farming.

I loved Okatsu in the Kessen games and she looks great in this. I really want her as a playable addition to the Samurai Warriors franchise but those games have enough ninjas as is.
 
I like these new character designs. Hopefully we'll get a release date during TGS!

You are probably thinking of Onimusha. Main Character in 1 and 3 was Samanosuke Akechi, son of Mitsuhide Akechi (although historically he was his son-in-law IIRC).

Haha, looked it up. I was actually thinking of Onimusha 4

But - I remembered reading this guy was the one of a warlord so I got mixed up
 
It'll be interesting to see if Hayashi can be somewhat redeemed by this game. It's looking pretty great. Far better than Ninja Gaiden 3 (OG).
 
The cutscenes in the beta had a weird tone.

Let's just say that the gameplay seems to be good enough to make up for whatever weird thing they're going for with the story.
 
It will be some ancestor of Ayane who has the same name and identical appearance. Maybe her bust size will be reduced to fit in with the rest of the cast, but the purple hair will be there. Hopefully it would mean dual daggers (or whatever Ayanes weapons are) will be in the game.

Same with Momiji and her Naginata. At least I think that's what she uses.
 
This magnificent game is such a day 1 buy!

There are 3 modes in Nioh Beta.

- Movie Mode (1080p stable 30fps.

- Action Mode (Lower resolution 60fps.

- And Movie Mode Variable (1080p, unlocked fps AKA the mode meant for PS4 Pro) 1080p 60fps :)
 
Game looks so good. Gives me those Bloodborne feels but the ninja combat also makes it feel fresh. Love the new characters. Can't wait to see how it runs on the Pro.
 
New characters look good. That said I do find it so weird/humorous having just come back from Japan how seemingly every japanese ad/tv series/realistic-looking videogame character portrays japanese women with big western-looking eyes when in reality on the streets 99% don't look like that. Huge dissonance there.
 
They look cool. I'm a bit disappointed that characters aren't a bit more stylized like in Samurai Warriors, but I'll take it.

Fun fact: Okatsu is an original character from Koei Tecmo, based on Ieyasu's concubine in real life. She debuted in Kessen and later appeared in Kessen III and Saihai no Yukue. In Kessen she's rumored to be related to Hattori Hanzo.
 
Well hopefully this is a sign the game doesn't just take place on Kyushu the mission screen only showed Kyushu island with white dots so was getting fearful we stuck with just that island.

I wonder if Mistunari Ishida and Sakon will appear as Willaim in history arrived before Sekigahara

(Sonia did kind look ridiculous though, especially with the twist of her supposedly being Irene Lew from the original Ninja Gaiden games).

No, they're also DoA and Ninja Gaiden.

It really doesn't look anything like a Team Ninja game. The women all have sensible breast sizes and don't look ridiculously sexualized. This is literally a first for Team Ninja.
