Very scientific.

Just be glad I didn't use Stenier math.

Just noticed that the marketing for this film is the opposite of the marketing for the 1998 Godzilla film.

It just needs the tagline "Size Does Matter".

How do you know they're not in the movie?

I don't with any real certainty, but given the scope of the story shown in the trailers, it wouldn't make much sense for them to be in it, and additionally, wouldn't them being in this count towards the number of Marvel films they are contracted to do? I can't imagine Marvel would have any cameos in this if it meant they'd have to renegotiate contracts with Chris Evans or RDJ.*

*- I know jack shit about the movie business, so this is me talking out of my ass.

I like those posters - it's a smart move to remind people of the character's connections with The Avengers (many casual film goers may not realize or know about that at first).

Level headed interpretation: Because marketing has been wholly poor for this movie, trailers and posters included, this is their best shot at getting people interested in Ant-Man. It conveys his size and relative level of impression in the public's psyche. This is the best shot at getting people talking about the movie.

Snarky interpretation: They have nothing to lose by banging heavily on the bigger Avengers characters, might as well throw this against the wall and see if it sticks. Marvel Pscyhophants will eat it up regardless. After all, they're feverishly setting the table for crow to be served to people that are non-believers..

Shame we can't get that Russian poster in English. That'd be a nice poster to hang on my wall. Infinitely better than the typical "Marvel posters" we've gotten for this so far.

I don't know, I think he's more familiar to the general public than the Guardians of the Galaxy ever were. That was still their biggest risk IMO.
If he is, he barely is. Plus at least GotG has the benefit of being a space themed action/adventure movie. That was much more familiar and easy to market then a guy whose main power is that he shrinks and talks to bugs.

I like the new posters. Even the new ad makes a brief reference to the Avengers. Marvel built their empire on their interconnected universe. You can't blame them for using that as part of their marketing.

About the same as Thor 1 and Cap 1. Of course, this is most riskiest film Marvel has done, of course they're gonna push as hard as they can.

"riskiest"

It's not a risk at all, I would say. Especially with that cast and that it's carrying the Marvel brand name. Even if it's tracking as much as Thor and Cap 1, it's not a bad thing at all. It'll be okay.

Clever, even if transparent. Their marketing push for this movie has been really poor so far, and even though this is basically a way to very quickly shore that up, it's actually funny, so.

It's pretty neat, but I can't help but feel it's a bit desperate. Not that I think it's gonna be a flop, but it seems that they realized they fucked up big time with the early promotional material and now they're trying to play catch-up to get some hype going.

I think it'll be profitable, but it'll probably be on the low end of Marvel's box-office returns, about $350-500 million. I'm just not really feeling this movie, and I don't know anyone who's excited for this movie either. I feel the same way about this that I felt about Thor 2 : "Oh, okay. I guess I'll check that out at some point."

You were made in very poor taste.
If you think using Black Widow's boobs in a mock ad is not poor taste, then I'm glad my opinions diverge from yours.

After all, the official ads only used Iron Man's armor, Thor's hammer, and Captain America's shield. The fans' brilliant idea was to use Black Widow's boobs.

They should have made a poster of Ant Man sticking out of The Hulk's pocket or sitting on Hawkeye's arrow as it takes off.

Or this...
