New Pokemon X and Y Gameplay

Ah you were talking about the genies and the trio eh lol i usually think people are talking about the cover legendaries since i felt they were the most mentioned.
The cover legendaries are okay. I like Zekrom but don't really like Reshiram but I get the inspiration. If I had to rate legendaries it'd go like this:

Gen 2 & 6>>>Gen 1>> Gen 3>>>>>Gen 4>>>>>>>> Gen 5

Its really too early to say for gen 6 but I really like Xerneas and Yveltal. I prefer more intruiging mythical creatures as legendaries than robot gods. Gen 2 had the perfect balance of intruiging mythical creatures, good design and interesting backstory. I only wish there was a little more fleshed out in particular with Celebi, Lugia and the Unown.

Again, I'm terrible sorry for posting a comment like "I don't like the visuals. I'm not sure if I'll get it" on a trailer thread.

You stated that a sword pokemon isn't like the pokemon you remember. The list of pokemon from the pokemon you remember invalidates your claim.

As much as I like robots, count me in with mythical creatures being better inspirations for legendaries.

That being said, Yveltal is the best. Wonder if we'll ever see a game with starter final evos on the front again?

Also, maybe this time around, we'll get some early game battles going. I miss the time when you could get a battle going mid-story, and not have to have lvl 50+ fully evolved Pokemon. Maybe like an online throwdown every weekend? Would be fun to see what everyone is working with at various points in the game. Also better have auto-level 50 for local fights and online.

Now you're butthurt at us being butthurt.

It's the internet y'all.

No, not really. I think the comments are rather sad. Like I said I haven't played that many pokemon games, mostly because of growing up and having better things to do at that point ;p.
Also, I didn't watch that much of X and Y except the release trailer. So I open the thread, watch the trailer in the OP and post my opinion without reading 6 pages first. You know, you could say "that has been discussed before" alot more easy, right?

Do you believe I would have gotten the same kind of replies if I posted something similair in the Dark Souls 2 thread for example? I highly doubt it.

I certainly know what I said and this wasn't it. Also, try to get your fanboy arguments started with someone else will you?

That's not what you said, but regardless you now know the horror of the cycle. :O

I don't know how the way pokemon are looking differs from the visual in a pokemon game for someone who just wants to enjoy the game.

For those wondering about surf.

It's just a shadow. One could argue that the shadow is the "blob", but then it's very small compared to the old ones.

Oh wait, I haven't played any pokemon game since Red/Blue/Yellow and the two after those.

Sorry if I insulted your world with my opinion.

Note to myself: Don't click on Pokemon threads on NeoGaf ever again.

Well, if it anything else, it shows that people commenting don't know how much of an improvement each generation has given.

So sad I don't recognize a single Pokémon beyond Generation 2 u.u
edit: a frigde? a washing machine? a fan? Jesus Christ.. Now I remember why I stopped.

...

THOSE ARE JUST POSSESSED MACHINES. That is just a form of a Pokemon. It's a ghost!

If people are being this ignorant then thank goodness they stopped.

While I think Gen 5 is above 1, 2 and 4 when it comes to cover legendaries (dat Zekrom) I think 6 trumps all so far, yeah.

With that said, what robot gods?

Bruh. You're on NeoGAF.

And you keep replying.

EDIT: Noooo, Gen III sucked, Gen IV is best gen.

EDIT 2: I'm talking strictly designs, mind. Mechanics-wise, it goes in order.

I do agree that legendaries should and feel more mythical since they are legendary.. I felt what made me like zekrom and reshiram was less there designs and more about what they represented in the story as well as there entries.

If i had to rank purely based in design it would be
Gen 2/Gen 6 > gen 3> gen 4/1 > gen 5

But if i had to rank them based on thier legends and stories
I would be gen 5>gen3>gen 4>gen 2/gen1

And i also like yvetal and xerneas a lot as well

please enlighten me how this has anything to do with my post. I stated why I stopped playing and did not comment on others who did not. But hey, go ahead and read more into it if you want to.

And yeah, sorry for replying to posts directed at me.

You probably would get the same replies from the dark souls 2 thread actually, from what I've seen.

Honestly I can see why the initial replies will startle you, but everyone here is pretty sensitive to that argument due to how frequently it pops up, as silly as it might seem.

Also it's not really that serious dude. I doubt anyone is actually upset about it. Most of the time it's people just wanting to talk about the merits of inanimate object pokemon.

I'm talking specifically about the part I quoted. I don't care about the rest of it. You're acting like you're above it all - "comments are sad" and you're in the same boat, trapped in the same argument you already said you weren't going to do in your "note to self."

Thank you for posting so quickly as typing/copying on an ipod is annoying

Anyway i think it has to do with zekrom and reshiram having the infamous turbines in thier designs giving them a more mechnical feel which i do agree it does since it ties up with a lot of the design ideas that i felt was in place in gen 5 which was to design more pokemon with an industrial feel. I felt a lot of gen 5 drew influence from mechnics so i felt the designs fit

Also gen ranking
Mine would actually probably be the lamest
5>3/2>4>1
( i dont think gen 1 is bad or the worst i just felt it was the weakest of the generations in terms of overall package that all of the others gens seem to try to fix)

To be fair he hasn't actually made a single argument, yet, beyond his statement that this game isn't like the ones he played.

It's not like I'm active in that thread to be honest. Mostly lurking for gaming related news, so yeah .. might be ;p.

Again, I'm responding in an argument I started and no - I won't check into Pokemons thread here again, don't worry.

Here is what you posted:

Wtf at that sword pokemon. Not the same game I played as a kid on the gameboy. Don't know if I'll get it.

Do you see why he might have come to that conclusion?

You said you were talking about the visuals and now why you stopped playing but you barely say anything, let alone that. Confusion was only natural.

I mean, feel free to - whatever opinion is fine. But the attitude was offputting. But that's just me.

It doesn't really matter though - I'm no one special, lol.

Man I hope Pangoro ends up being good or better than Scrafty and not be lame like Ursaring and Beartic.

Would be nice, i'll probably end up using it either way. Looks too good not to.

Actually I think I like all the newly revealed Pokemon aside from Flabebe and Spritzee.

Yes, a generic rock, ball, and magnet is better than soul sucking candles, gears that show natural evolution, possessed appliances, living icicles, and a living recycling plant.

It's all the same crap to me. Geodude, Magnimite and Electrode were (among) the worst designs of the first generation, but at least they aren't just obvious rehashes like Klink and they don't pass a barrier in terms of ridiculousness. I just don't see the appeal of training and capturing a washing machine.

It's not better at all. That's the reason why you aren't even able to explain what makes them better besides nostalgia.

So you're allowed to say its better without giving any reason whatsoever, but I can't simply because you assume that I have a bias for nostalgia? I actually do like a number of the new pokemon designs, but a vast majority are either too overly complex in design or just rehashed. There were some ugly ones in every generation, but color schemes and overall flow of the designs has just been muddled up with unnecessary touches.

I'm honestly amazed at the amount of hate Honedge has gotten. Considering how big a deal Gen I-ers make about simplicity in design and how simple Honedge is you'd think it'd be beloved.

I would have preferred it better without the unnecessary complex design in the back.

I fail to see how anyone can compare this design to the the majority of the basic looking pokemon of the first few generations. They are nothing alike.

How many eyes does it have? Looks like it has 3 with two being closed and a grin...but I could be wrong. Would make sense / be a little creepy to see all 3 blinking at once (are there any Pokemon with more than two eyes in the first place).

The back? You mean its sheath? The sword is inside it.

1. The other 2 and the mouth are just holes in the sheath exposing the sword inside. The lines are the lines of the sword's blade.

It's just one eye, the Pokemon i just inside the sheath.

Heh this is just like the when I thought Armaldo's eyes were those red oval shapes.
Actually thinking about this design more i think its preety clever. I feel the sheath was designed that way to give honedge an illusion of a mischvious personality while in reality its emotionless i think its preety clever

Gen V is my favourite generation. I feel that its designs and the concepts behind them were the strongest in the series, and that the games themselves were incredibly polished and intuitive (with lots of awesome postgame content).

For chrissakes, my username and non-punishment avatar are taken from the greatest Pokémon ever, who hails from Gen V and whom Kung Fool Panda is a poor imitation of.

My favorite is anything not Gen II, III or IV. Gen V grew on me considerably; perhaps the games being well-polished adds to my fondness of them. Gen VI seems strong thus far and it may end up being my new favorite, but I have yet to see that.

I think i might be the only one who doesnt understand scrafty's popularity :/ i like it sure but then again some of my favorite 5th gen pokes were liligant and meloetta so maybe i have terrible taste lol

Admit it brah, Pangoro is pretty hype.
He would be cooler if he had four arms though...

Use it in a playthrough of BW/BW2 and watch it solo 3 Gyms and 4 out of the 5 members of the Pokémon League all by itself.

Alternatively, hang around me until it rubs off on ya ;P

I shouldve been more clear I was ranking over all legends not just the cover legendaries.

Also I was using a broad term. I know not every single legendary is robotic in nature but more their unatural aesthetic coupled with their god like powers. In this broad category I'd place the Regis, Dialga, Areceus, Palkai, Reshiram, and Zekrom in there with Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza as borderline ones. I'm not saying I dislike them all as I like Rayquaza, Kyogre, the regi trio (not a fan of regigas), Dialga and Zekrom but I vastly prefer the more natural mythical creatures with some lore.

There's a difference between saying you prefer the color usage and less complex designs of the originals and what you said. Honedge is ten times more original then some of the stupid shit in Gen 1. I can imagine the completely original thought process that went into a majority of them.

Oh look! A generic rat!
Oh shit! A rock. Let's give it arms!
Guys, I just though of the most crazy shit ever! Let's give a goldfish/crab/seel/pigeon/kangaroo/carp/fart/eggs/caterpillar/snake/seahorse some big eyes and call it a day!

And what you're supposed to see in Honedge is a concept beyond 'give this shit eyes'. Crazy, I know.
