Thank God great 2D won't die with the PSP. I'm looking forward to both ASAP. TOE looks incredible, reminds me abit of Golden Sun.

Thanks for the pics

Oh the ignorance :/

I hope I am not the only one who hates this kind of art. Twelve years old boys dressed like skanks are not OK on my book, sorry. At least Popolop's nauseating chibi style does look way better in game (those drawings are still terrible though)
Yeah, that kind of clothing is a real turn off, I mean, do normal Japanese kids wear those types of clothes? You see them used in many games and anime, although most other characters are at least older than this guy. Still makes them look like skanks.

Is it safe to assume Sugar & Rockets will fix the load time in the PoPoLoCrOiS games? I like 'em, but if they don't clean them up for the PSP, I'll be pissed.

ToE looks so hot. I'd really like to see some side-by-side pics of the PS and PSP versions... I wonder if anyone's done something like that yet?

PS version never looked this pixely or did it? I'm positive PSP version doesn't have any real improvements over it's original.

(edit: well the opening might be nicely remastered... but ingame stuff looks pretty same if not worse)

PS: BTW, whats going on with the koei case? Still waiting on your paypal email XD

It can't be just a straight port, can it? Surely they must've added something... they could've easily improved the overworld graphics, for example. The original version's overworld looks like garbage now -- some bits of PS1 games just do NOT age well.

Re: your case -- just saw your PM, will write back in a min.

Replied back! And what I imagine is that it's a straight port visually and whatnot, but it might have new areas or content. Regardless, it's nothing improved technically.. Pretty positive the PSP could clean up those maps easily :/

This is Namco. Do you really expect much? :lol

Bumping this for two reasons. Final info on the new features:

--Battle system from Popolocrois II has been implemented into I & the new story.
--2 new battle options: Dual-attacks where 2 characters work together to do a super and..
--Ability to summon creatures to fight with you in battle
--Zoom-in ability
--Quick-save ability

So you get 2 full classic PS1 rpgs (around 40-50 hours total) + a brand new adventure (? hours). A more in-depth battle system and quick save ability. Sounds like an extremely good game for those of us who never played the originals.

So then todays famitsu gave it a 8/7/8/8 and I gave it a read. All 4 reviewers were like everything added is fantastic, original games are fantastic, excellent game....but the loading is very problematic.

FUCK FUCK NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! >_<

The original PS versions were supposed to have almost no loading, whereas the PS2 ones had loading so bad the games were almost unplayable. If the PSP loading is anywhere near as problematic as the PS2 versions then this is going to be a travesity ;_;

Wow, the Final Fantasy Chronicles situation all over again.

Add console exclusive characters? :)

How did I miss this?! Noooooooo!!

*Edit* - And the PSone games definitely had loading...

Actually yeah, I do. I mean Phantasia got a nice makeover on PS1 and GBA... Symphonia PS2 has a ton of new content... etc. etc.

I don't mind if it has the basic PS1 Eternia engine but they've got to clean up the overworld... the frame-rate was horrible and the graphics were just hideous. It's hard to look at after playing Destiny 2 or Rebirth...

Actually I don't at all recall framerate issues being problematic in ToE, whether gliding on a hoverboard, or taking the various airships for a cruise, the L/R panning and forward scrolling never skipped a beat.

Granted, the overworld was never a visual marvel(though the day-night transitions and occasional polygonal structure animation were nice touches), but even on lesser hardware I'd still take it over the coded embarrassment that was Destiny 2's 3D world. So surprised you have anything kind to say of that one...
