New RAGE gameplay trailer from PAX

I look forward to playing. Although I get a real Assassin's Creed vibe from the H.U.D.

I had no interest in this game until I saw the gameplay footage a month back, and I have it on pre-order. Looks fantastic on 360.

EDIT: There's a serious amount of Killzone 2 influence in some of the moments here. The weight of everything seems somewhat similar too. Looking good.
 
Not as great as the last trailer they released but still awesome to see some different game play. Forget the haters I think the game looks great graphically.
 
I think it's more texture variety versus resolution, since they use megatextures instead of tiles. On PC we could probably have had both if they had focused on it.

At least in theory, they probably do use tiles to patch the megatexture with, where it makes sense and environments repeat anyway. Maybe add custom detail on top.

Naa,textures could be twice the resolution only it would take couple of dozen gb more.Actually,they would lose some cpu cycles on decompressing megatexture pages.Plus,RSX only supports 4k by 4k textures.

OT,the game looks great!Only thing left to see is 60fps video,but I'm pretty impressed by how natural world and charters look/feel.AI behavior seems great,and those spiders,attachments and other RPG stuff looks really polished and useful.
 
looks absolutely incredible. not sure how some people can call those 'first gen' 360 graphics.. they're some of the best I've ever seen on a console fps.

What film is this from? Couldn't sworn I saw this on TV the other day.

On topic, the game looks pretty good. Game seemed to be running on consoles I think? At times looked great, especially the character models. And to be running at 60fps is also quite a feat for consoles. Defo in need of some AA, since the game was shimmering a bunch, but other than that it seems like a solid title.

Looking forward to seeing it on PC.
 
Id must have some sick animation engineers,because it looks extremely fluid,even though game is 60fps.Just look at those spiders jumping around...

Are you joking? This video is the PC version where there isn't a compromise, and the textures look pretty insane. I personally think that in the actual console videos the textures look acceptable for 60fps though.

and youre insane, they look amazing. Of course if you get close to most textures youre gonna see them blurry, but do you notice any texture pop in while he's walking around for example? game looks sharp as fuck. You only notice those issues when you look for them.
 
Hasn't Carmack been saying that integrated chips are running this at around 30 FPS? I think most PCs will handle the game just fine.

Absolutely. Besides the silky smooth frame rate even over Youtube, I noticed a lot Killzone 2 influence. I hope it was intentional... because I have a hard time playing FPS' without the same weight of movement and the "feel" of firing a weapon that Killzone 2 had. This game seems to be taking a bit of a pointer from that. Makes the world feel much more alive when everything, including your character and weapon move more smoothly.

Makes me really interested.

Aliasing is duo to yt video resizing,its always like that with RAGE.Wait for gamersyde version.

Note that there should be jaggies since(as Todd from Id confirmed) trailers run at 720p.
 
So if consoles are running this at 60FPS, does that mean my iMac may have a chance at running this at 60FPS at native res? I run games at 2560x1440 but this always comes at the cost of higher framerates, but if this is optimised to run at 60FPS even on consoles, does that mean it isn't very demanding?

Yeah it looks useful as hell. I remember a sentry bot mod for Doom 3 that I used on a second playthrough and it was like a little co-op buddy.

It's hard to tell for sure but that shotgun sounds a bit anemic. I'll be able to tell better with my headphones on ingame, but I definitely want plenty of "boom" in my boomstick. Hopefully it'll be easy enough to slap together a weapon sound .pak to enhance it if need be.

The illusion is shattered when the hit reactions are so awful. These dudes are getting shot up and the feedback on it is very poor.

You get a ton of jaggies at 720p with no AA.

A side note, Gamersyde are good, Gameshell is way better.

he said he's working with Intel to achieve that, but its not known if he's talking about current integrated chips or new ones coming out.
