New Red Steel 2 pictures

Do you? This has obviously been resized from a much higher-resolution image, and is not at all reflective of how the image will actually look when running on Wii hardware.
OK, lets just we both don't know what we talk about.:lol

seriously, yeah, the screen are touched up slightly, with a change of the size resolution (or something bull like that) but the E3 demo proved that tis game will probably look really close to those images.

I still see aliasing in those screens. I think the reason they look so sharp is because they are tiny images. Stretch it to a 40" screen and it'll look more Wii-like.

You have a point. And guys, have a look at some Galaxy screens of the same size. It's just about possible...

it still looks very nice in the videos shown so far

i don't know why you're getting so upset

People are getting upset because of a good-looking wii game ? gaf delivers again :-D

Okay the game looks great and fluid.

And even looks nice graphical.

I love the sword/gun combo. And seems to be working on all the things the first one could have been.

Looks a bit too good to be true, but yeah, I really like the art style they've got going. The videos from E3 looked great (though I've yet to see one that runs in 60fps, but 30fps is the standard, so, yeah). At least we know it'll be buttery smooth when it comes out.

Impressions of the game were pretty hit and miss at E3. Some loved it (IGN, Kotaku), some didn't. Hopefully they're using the delay to really fine tune those controls (and level design).

Wow, this is like washing your eyes with holy water compared to the COD4 screens. I know the AA is waaaaaaaaaaay too high, but the actual game has been seen in action so we know the screens aren't off by much.

My only concern is this screen shot.

The bullet shell has motion blur... I wonder if the actual game has that or just photoshopped in by Ubi Soft. The inner skeptic in me can't help but doubt Ubi Soft.
It could easily be faked ingame, I doube they have actual objectbased blur but it does look really nice.

I would love to see more stylish games on the Wii, games that play to the strength of the machine and not the other way around.

it looks alright for a wii game and for having 2-3 enemies on screen at once...

don't really see what the fuss is about though.

Why does every thread about a Wii game have to descend into a catfight about graphics ?
Nobody bought a Wii for how the graphics would look.

Red Steel 2 looks like great fun and Ubisoft must have learned a lot from the mistakes with the first game.

The thread is about red steel 2's new screen grabs. Don't you think the graphics will be discussed?

The video looked pretty fun. I'm hopeful this one turns out well. I enjoyed the first game for what it was, but it's hard to go back to today.

It's actually about the new gameplay vid at this point... which is looking pretty damn fun I might say.

Wow, that video looked awesome. Deeper combat than what was in the E3 demo, and that shockwave attack looked pretty sweet :D

Can't wait. I know it was delayed until 2010, but do we have any more narrowed of a date?

Dev video looked great! The shockwave special attack looked a bit overpowered though.

I'm sure you can't actually use it over and over again. They probably put a hack/cheat in to give them infinite use to show off. Even so, it looked like you could actually miss with the attack, so there still might be some skill involved in it.

all signs point to actual object based motion blur. we've seen several instances of it now with the opening in-game cinematic and these bullets. and going by the amount of aliasing in the cinematic, i'm pretty sure it's real time and not pre-rendered.

I swear I remember on of the guys saying that the blur was done real time, anyway it's looking better and better..don't screw it up UBI

I love the visual style here. I'm not completely sold on the gameplay (I'll need to give it a test drive), but this looks leagues better than its predecessor.

I can't really tell if this is motion blur or just lines on the side of the screen.

Also this is worth posting on the thread

Looks pretty good already. With the delay, hopefully this'll be be great.

Agreed. It already sounds like they have the shooter controls and graphics down pat, now let's just hope they can step up the swordplay from E3. What they've been showing has been looking pretty fun though, with the combos and all.

Probably cleaned up shots, but even still very impressive. The art style goes great on the Wii, hopefully the gameplay works out.

Looks just as lame as the first one.

Joke post?

This game looks amazing to me. This will be a first of its kind really, a sword fighting game with full motion controls. The slick IR controls and RE4 inspired upgrade system are icing on the cake.

I am personally much more excited about this than Assassins Creed 2 or Splinter Cell. Ubi Soft knows Red Steel 2 has the potential to sell gangbusters, I think it will.

If I remember correctly, Headstrong Games was able to get object based motion blur working on the Wii. They actually used it pretty liberally in House of the Dead: Overkill. It doesn't surprise me Ubisoft has an implementation of it here. Motion blur is probably one of my favorite post processing effects when used correctly.

Correct, and a very good implementation at that. IIRC it was the first (and only, until now) game on the GC/Wii arquitecture to use it.

Looking very good. I hope the artstyle will be more varied outside of the dessert settings, and wish they get the gameplay right.
