Next Tuesday? Not sure about everywhere else, but Best Buy has this in store. $8 and it comes with $7.50 in movie cash. I picked it up last week. It was kind of a pain to find (was merchandised on an endcap), and it was the only copy left.

Think it was Best Buy exclusive until this Tuesday.

Way too much "man in suit" vibe. That's the reason they went with Peter Weller in the original, the guy was as thin as a stick so he would look good in a robot suit.
This guy is probably more muscular and thicker-set so the suit needed to be bulkier.

To be fair, Dredd is not a remake. It is totally awesome though.

Good point, it isn't. It was balls to the wall awesome though. Futuristic hyperviolence done right. I wonder what the next (80s) scifi classic will get raped. Starship Troopers sounds like the next contestant. Mad Max is up in the air - there's at least some talent involved.

Why can't more remakes be totally awesome and amazing like Dredd :(. To rub salt in the wounds, it friggin' bombed. *cries for a bit*

The theatrical release didn't do well, but didn't the disc sales more than make up for it? I thought overall Dredd was a success.

Thanks to this thread I saw Dredd, despite trailers giving me next to zero hope, and what a pleasant surprise it was!

Lesson of the Day: more British low budget scifi/action/comic movies, less American high budget cgi-riddled one-liner x-plosion fests

Good, spread the gospel! Movie needs more love. I don't think anyone I've recommended this flick to walked away disappointed. Really liked what they did with the slow-mo music too when they're doing the drug, reminded me of what Shamantis did with that Beeb song.

Just like I said back in the first thread about this, unfortunately it seems like this crew didn't get the memo about the original Robocop being a very dark comedy / social satire. Everything I've seen so far makes this look like a color-by-numbers futuristic action flick, where the entire goal is for everyone and everything to look cool. What a letdown.

Dayum! Robo been eatin' some robo-donuts, yo!

So, a series that had strong themes of fighting major corporations is now seeing a remake where it is visibly succumbing to the norms that major corporations demand for an action film to be successful.

Looks like a bad 80s TV show.

And the amount of bad CGI they managed to put into minute long trailer doesn't bode well either.

That wasn't Robocop.

I don't know what that was but it wasn't Robocop.

When you change something so much that it hardly resembles the original property, you may as well just make something new and call it something different all together.

For anyone else wondering, this is no bullshit. Already being sold in Best Buy even though supposedly it's not supposed to be out until Tuesday. Also comes with a $7.50 movie bucks thing if you intend to see the new piece of shit.

Bargain bin and it's not even out yet? Wow....

Hollywood, you so cray cray.

Not only that, its directed by a guy known for amazing anti-establishment films, its almost endearing the great lengths in which they have gone against the themes of the original.

its like as if you guys never watched any of the previews... its def big corps taking control of the justice system and robocop turning against them.

What if the twist is his whole personality is programmed and when he runs away from OmniCorp he founds out in his past life he was a violent, drunk husband?
