It used to be green but then they made them red.. part of me died when that happened.. :(

What do other Londoners think? I ain't crazy about the design but whatever i suppose. The bendy buses were awesome.
I didn't get the way Londoners seemed so obsessed about what sort of bus they had. I was there last year for a few months, and it seemed like everyday there was some pro bendy or anti bendy stoush.

I don't think they are particularly good looking, but not ugly as well.
I don't like bendy buses because people don't pay to ride the bus and because of that kind of behavior, we end up with an outrageously expensive travelcard.
Seriously, £100 for a month? HA!

I'm buying a bike!

One thing though, I don't understand the double stair thing and the open platform. Didn't they get rid of that because it was dangerous? Like people jumping off when the bus was moving?

Hahaha i wanted to buy a bike because transports getting too expensive:lol :lol. I usually go to central London and living in Hackney i swear, i might as well cycle since it's usually takes about the same length of time.

Well yeah that's my reasoning. I live near Old Street and work in Warren Street. So it's like 45mins walk/30mins tube+walk and prob 20mins bike.

Plus, since my job does the whole cycle-to-work scheme, I gave it a go and will be the proud owner of a brand new bike in a couple of weeks!

I'll still take the bus from time to time though, I can't see myself ride my bike drunk :D

That design looks amazing :) I visit London on a monthly basis i can't wait to see them on the road. The ministry for tourism in my country are investing in second hand double deckers from the UK to convert them into open top tour buses haha

Thomas Heatherwick IS British design at the moment.

Another of his recent work, the UK pavilion, probably the best thing at the Shanghai Expo:

I really like it - economically I don't think it's a good idea though, half the capacity of a bendy bus plus the cost of an extra member of staff? I also wonder how long it'll look cool for. Asymmetrical hairdos are already on their way out, how long before asymmetrical busses are too? These are the questions!

Also, the bendy buses only were in service for 5 years? Seems like a waste and not that good an investment.

They are a fucking annoyance on roads...especially in central London when they stop mid way across a zebra crossing and there's no way to get around them. Keep that euroshite in europe.

...ugh

Where do you live? This has been available in Mississauga since forever! :lol

The fucking middle is the MOST ANNOYING place to sit! Thank God I don't take Mississauga Transit anymore. Go Transit all the way! :D

:lol

I completely agree. Never saw the point in them.

The No 4 (city - NTU Clifton campus) is still bendy.
One of many reasons that I don't go to Clifton ;)

the news buses in Birmingham, UK are so smooth you can't feel the gear changes. Farcry from old not-waterproof ones that had a chassis that had the same resonance frequency as the engine idle.

Oh, COTA. Haven't touched one of those since my freshman year at OSU. :lol

C-Bus needs passenger rail. Badly.

Yeah it does. I keep hearing that it gets brought up every few years and then it gets shelved again. I've thought a few times about getting a bus pass but then I think about how smelly everyone is on there and how much longer it'd take me to get to work and back home. Not worth it to me.

Love the new design, ultra sexy. I hardly ever pop over to London though, so will be a long while till I get to see it in person.

When I was in college I drove a city bus.
I couldn't find a pic of one of the buses, but here's the route map:

Looks like it's changed since I drove. That's my contribution to this thread.

Bay Area wins this one. We have hydrogen buses. ...Or at least we did. Three of them, which lasted 75,000 miles each until they pulled the plug because of high maintenance costs..

AC Transit has the slickest buses around now..

Take it in Bitches. That's what a bus is supposed to look like.

Loud, smelly, and fucking ugly as shit.

But at least they have a usually-functioning bike rack, making them 1000% better than any slick double-decker.

Also like the "Not in service" choice. That's pretty much 50% of buses you'll see in the Metro area look like.

Some of the newer ones have leather seats (probably fake but it's still comfy as hell) when compared to the ones we had 10 years ago we've got it so good.
I remember when i was young and would always sit on the top at the front and without fail my legs would always be soaked from leaks and when the bus came to a stop the vibration from the engine was enough to rattle your jaw. :lol

That's one sexy bus design. Between those and the new (hot as fuck) Victoria Line trains, my commuting may actually be tolerable.
