I've been posting random screenshots of Xbox games in the console screenshot thread, using the developer kit capture tool which results in the best shots, for 480p anyway

I love retro threads!

I've put a ton of hours into JSRF. Pretty sure it never looked that terrible.

OK, nobody was looking for Freedom Fighters shots but I thought they would be interesting as the game supported 720p output. Here's what it looks like.
The game is way uglier looking than I remember, however, with horrible animation, simple models, and lots of dithering. It's also slightly blurry.
Holy fuck, this is a PS2 title?

Xbox direct feed screenshots were possible at the last months of its lifecycle. You could capture them directly out of the frame buffer on modded consoles.![]()

Wow, The Bouncer looks incredible for a game released in 2000. 60 fps, detailed models, and all sorts of fancy (for the time) effects. At the time, this was actually the game that convinced me the PS2 was much more capable than Dreamcast (shame the game isn't so hot). In motion, this is still very nice looking even today. The animations in game are solid and the game has an early take on ragdoll physics in there (which aren't even half bad). If only this same level of visual quality could have been used in Final Fantasy X...
Yeah, it's a bit blurry as people have always pointed out, but that kind of helps keep the jaggies at bay while providing a look that is rather different than most 3D games at the time.
That's it for the moment as I'm heading to bed here in a few. I'll capture some more tomorrow.
Bonkers, man. That looks great for '01
