New Sins of a Solar Empire media

"I've noticed a slew of games that have official threads way before their release date(SSBB and tekken 6 to name some)"

I mentally block out SSBB (actually, tekken too) threads, but are you talking about the Update thread? If so, that's totally different.

As far as the Tekken thread, for some reason that just sort of morphed into one. It was originally just a news post and then it just kept getting updated and bumped. Can't fault em for that, I guess.

I just can´t wait, I have been looking for it a lot of time and is one of the games I am more excited for this 2008.

Still doubting between buying it from Stardock page or try to get a retail version (I am a bit off of dl services, my connection problem has given me problems to play Orange Box with Steam and offline mode was useless).

Even if you buy it from Stardock, they send you the boxed copy as well. Even more of an incentive to buy it via SDC is that you get the Collector's Edition (soundtrack, poster, etc.)

I'm no huge fan of download programs in general, but I can confirm that yes, Stardock is a very cool company

I bought GalCiv2 online as a pre-release and they mailed me a collectors edition of the game O_o

Also, there's no copy protection, you can install it on whatever you want (I use it on my pc/laptop). Stardock's attitude towards piracy in general seems to be 'pirates will pirate, let's not make it a pain in the ass for paying customers'.

I don't know if Sins will be the same way (they're publishing it, not developing it), so you might want to check on the Sins forums or ask there before you buy it via Stardock central.

This game looks and sounds very promising and i really wan't this game. Last 4X game i playd was Space Empires III (B5 mod !) and for some reason it's still one of my favorites. It just too fun to play with friends.

Does Solar Empire have HotSeat or only online multiplayer ?

EDIT: Dam i have to install Master of orion again.

So I just found out about this game, and according to its website it comes out in 2 weeks' time, but it's not listed on most UK online stores - Amazon UK, Game, Gameplay and Play.com don't have it, Gamestation does list it but as "TBC". I notice that there appears to be a digital distribution version of the game, what's the infrastructure like for that? Can I back it up after downloading it? Can I redownload it again at any point in the future? And do they accept orders from outside North America? Also, does anyone know if there's going to be a demo that I could try before plunging into the full game?

I'm looking forward to this AND Twilight of the Arnor. So far the beta is coming along swimmingly. :)

I've played the beta and damn, is that game addicting. I played it non stop for about 3-4 hours straight and I wasn't even able to conquer the entire star system yet. (I was playing on a medium sized map, so 3 star systems all together) That's by far the longest play session I've ever had with any RTS game to date and I only played against the AI to boot.

Since you both have played the beta, you could maybe answer some questions I have.

1. Is there a unit cap? If there is, does it feel like it gets reached to quickly or is it a good number?

2. Can you pause the game (singleplayer) and issue commands while paused?

Thanks!
