new smash bros brawl trailer at GT

eh, i could imagine it but man they really should have included more than 512mb of flash memory if they were gonna offer such a wide range of possible downloads. this is gonna get filled in two minutes, and even the 2 gig sticks will be small if it's consistent.
Exactly...
Unless they make it mandatory to buy a Nintendo HardDrive to play some games to their max potential.
Or
Everytime you play a new game, the space needed is deleted off the internal flash,
though this would make loadtimes REALLY long.

Well time to save money and shell out for the biggest possible SD card then. I'm sure Nintendo will do its own research into a large SD card for cheap dollars. Guaranteed.

4 gigs, 75 bones.

This game is just looking mental, i really hope they will put a 4 on 4 online mode in (4 people on screen at once like a tag battle but a entire team shifts so 2 each team) and online rankings.
The pitt stage looks great but i find it always a shame that the backgrounds are so facking nice but you cant go there to fight, but we know little at the moment so maybe... :P

maximum size of the SD that you could find is, like, 4GB or something. And they're el-expenso. (also the one you showed... I'm not even sure that's compatible with Wii, and it's shit quality they break all the time). Like PSP, I'm sure it'll get much cheaper over time.

but i think as someone mentioned they should offer an external USB HDD peripheral (for cheap, please, no more than $49.99). I wish they just included 5GB HDD with every Wii instead of having to hope they come up with something down the line, and having to pay extra though.

I love the music of this place and I really, REALLY, would like to hear it orchestrated.

Haha, yup. See, I told you that would be sooo awesome.

well they have said that WC24 will be used for updates so I am sure they planned something.

Can someone mirror this trailer for me?
I cannot download from work (due to restrictions to GAMES SITES) but would like to dload and stick on a SD card so that I can watch on my PDA.

well look at it this way - would you rather have an upgradeable-yourself HDD instead of an internal HDD that is limited by size forever?

new stages look awesome
disappointed to see the new character is fox (like we didn't already knew mep... :/) i also think that the old model looked better than the new one since the new one is more similiar to starfox command style

i'd rather have an included HDD, without a remote doubt. PLUS, it's not like they couldn't have made it upgradeable as well.

true, but the way they are going now, they could've charged more for the hard drive anyway. It's really coming down to cost. I bet the HDD would've added 50 more dollars on there, and we don't want to see a Wii 299 pricepoint.

Exactly, plus if it does get to the point where it's a MUST to enjoy a games full potential,
Wii's Market will become split if some people opt to buy, and some just opt not to.

But I'm thinking/hoping Nintendo has this all planned out,
and we have nothing to worry about.

from pure price of components, if they had a small 5GB HDD they'd probably actually just be breaking even, based on what they're currently charging for Wii :P

that's not enough for Nintenprofits of course though! ;)

Yoshi's Island stage looked really nice, and makes me want a full 3d Yoshi's Island game in that pastel shading style.

Smash Bros. really does nothing for me though, its just a fanboy mascot circlejerk. But it has so much effort and touches put into it, I gotta respect it there. Just wish they'd make other games using the graphical styles rather than the dinky small stages. For instance, the first 'Mario Classic' 2d platformer section from melee had me salivating for a new Mario platformer YEARS before NSMB. Its annoying, I guess I just see it as a bit of a waste.

OH I KNOW WHY ZERO SUIT SAMUS = SHIEK

Twilight Princess spoiler
They're using Twilight Princess Zelda for SSBB who will not turn into Shiek, instead of SSBM's Ocarina of Time Zelda

Then Link should be able to turn into a wolf in SSBB. :D

4 gigs, 75 bones.

We don't even know what capacity SD cards the Wii even supports. The +2GB cards use a slightly different type of technology. And by Nintendo research I'm sure you mean Panasonic as they're one of the patent holders for SD cards and tend to be Nintendo's right hand men for storage media.
I believe the theoretical limit of SD cards is 32GB.

Amir0x said:
it's acceptable, since it's not like Wii is gonna be providing HD content and thus the downloads will be smaller than on 360 or PS3.
yes but, there is a considerable amount of content that could eventually fill those 5 gigs. Even I find myself taking space up on the 360's 20 gig really fast.

I guess it depends on what Nintendo will be offering.

No difference between SSBM and SSBB??

*pics*
oh there's a difference, but nothing amazing when compared to SSBM. graphically speaking they're very much in the same league as each other.

i think that's probably got more to do with stylistic choices by the developers, rather than any technical limitations though. It's difficult to find a good medium between something that's reasonably realistic so that characters like Snake don't look out of place, but then if it's too realistic characters like Wario or Kirby wont fit in.

it's just a compromise they've had to make.

yeah, like i said above. it's a stylistic choice. remember that SSBM Link was based on the design of OOT Link (or SC Link). Link in SSBB is based on TP Link, who is more detailed.

SSBB isn't going to blow anyone away with the best graphics. It simply does what it needs to.

well, they could always offer a 20gb USB HDD on the side as some mentioned. but they really should have gone with bigger internal storage if downloadable content was gonna be like this on Wii

And the back grounds? and the detail?

The backgrounds are way better.

SSBM had awesome character models but average backgrounds. Brawl has slightly better character models, and much better backgrounds (mainly through the application of bump mapping and lighting effects).

SSBB is a big step from SSBM, but the question is, could the game still be done on the cube, considering SSBM was a launch game.

Technically speaking it's a bit better than Twilight Princess, so maybe it's a little bit above what the cube can do.

The backgrounds. Gorgeous. Destroys SSBM. The character models are REALLY good, and have a ton of detail, but I can see them being done on Cube. Maybe not the backgrounds.

Anyway, I want some direct feed damnit! The music is kiiler, but the crowd noise kills it!

Could Nintendo release Smash Brother Brawl, Mario Galaxy and Metroïd Prime in the next 6 months? That'd be huge. And somehow necessary.

No, Metroid will be Q1 or Q2 2007
Mario Galaxy Q1 2007
Smash Brothers Brawl Q4 2007(if its finished by then)

I think it would be awesome if I just woke up one day and booted up the wii only to find instead of the channel listing I get a "New challenger" cutscene. Stuff like that is where the wiiconnect24 could be really cool.

Yoshi's Island stage needs touch fuzzy get dizzy, a fun equalizer for a party fighter. Pit and Meta Knight both look interesting to play, if similar.

-but wont. Because Nintendo would never do that. Not in a million years.
