It's why the Communist states sought to constantly invent new terminology and replace old terms with their new ones. His vision for how totalitarian states would use language to control thought was the basis for Oceania's "Newspeak" and he wrote an entire appendix to 1984 just to discuss the special truncated version of English that Oceania invented to ensure that the populace could not even think or express the concepts of freedom and individual thoughts beyond "Ingsoc" doctrine which was the Newspeak abbreviation for "English Socialism"
