This might be as good a place as any to ask: is the anime series adaptation of No.6 worth the time?

I liked no.6 anime got me into the manga, which is also really well, if only the lns could come out and release here. The music is well done as well as the jpn va's and a lot of the little scenes are charming with suspenseful moments scattered throughout looking quite good. Worthwhile.

Definitely Death Note. It's what got me into anime. The story is very cleverly written and you'll be hooked by probably the second/third episode. Really intense mind games and suspense.

I also suggest the following:

Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Now and Then, Here and There
Monster
Claymore
Samurai 7

The only anime series I've watched are .hack//SIGN when it came out long ago, really loved the slow-burning story, unique atmosphere and music.

I watched the first half of Steins;gate recently and loved the story, though some of the typical cliché characters really got on my nerves (especially the classic annoying high-pitched little girl -.-).

What do you think would be great series to begin with? And why? I've heard great things about Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ghost in the shell, Noir, Madlax, etc. I just don't know where to begin!! =D

EDIT: Please disregard my thread title fail.

Noir is like the definition of slow-burn. At least, that's how it felt to me.

I'd say the very best anime ever:

1. Gurren Lagann
2. Full Metal Alchemist
3. Eureka 7
4. Bakemonogatari (+Newer seasons)
5. Samurai Champloo
6. FLCL

My Favorite anime movies:

1. Princess Mononoke
2. Summer Wars

Notable Mentions:

- Fate Stay Night
- Ergo Proxy
- Xamdou
- Scrapped Princess
- Love Hina
- Sword Art Online

1990's Classics:

-Gundam Wing Zero
