It was in a recent interview. Maynard basically said they'd gone as far as they could at this point. He also said that he'd go back and do a few songs if record companies didn't hold him to it.

edit: but for the record, Billy always wanted a female singer, so I'm pretty positive the band itself is far from over.
 
Is TOOL the most analyzed band of all time? I swear people are rabid about their music. (including myself) What other band could have an album leak and people think it's a hoax? Honestly I could care less if it's fake or real. The album I'm listening to is better than any other album released since the last TOOL album. Man TOOL has got to be the most creative, awesome band in the universe!

I only came to appreciate them about '98-'99 (through a friend) but I agree, and was thinking something along these lines today. It really is a bit of an event when an album comes out. Which is awesome.

I don't listen to a lot of music anymore (get totally lost in most music threads here) but new Tool is always something that will instantly get my attention.

I'd attribute the psychotic analyzing to the heavy usage of marijuana amongst fans, and I'd attribute the lack of taste to simply not experiencing much music.

I dont think were ever going to hear the end of it, especially with several online retailers having a 25$ version for the 16th of May (as well as the 10$ one on the 2nd). Perhaps two different labels releasing the album explains this, or its just a screw up on both stores.

Fucking bullshit. There are a million bands that have a fanbase of notorious druggies. Tool, if anything, has more fans that do acid.
Weed? Get the fuck out of here. If that was the case, Dave Matthews Band would be the most talked about band in the world.

IMO, it's that for it's core fans, Tool strikes on a level very few other bands do. They have a different sound and intelligent lyrics. Most of them make you think, some are way over analyzed....but not many bands have such a direct personal connection as Tool does.
There are just so many ways people can interpret the lyrics and the song.

Even if I'm way off, the rabid fan syndrome has absolutely nothing to do with drug use.
 
the only thing that can top this for album of the year... nay, album of the new millenium (since it is better than lateralus by a hair and since SP hasn't had any new albums aside from machina out since 200) is if this is indeed a decoy album and tool unleashes an even better album on may 2nd. that is the only way!
 
I haven't listened to all of it yet (I'm on Intension right now), but damn... for me it's like Undertow + Lateralus, which is an amazing combination. Wings + 10,000 days is great.

Yeah, I'm feeling incredibly attached to that song. Everything else on the album is great, but it really stands out to me as the package, so to speak.
 
I'm really starting to think The Pot has my favorite vocals by Maynard ever.
Not necessarily the best, but my favorite.

I know some of the dates are going through the actual venue and not ticketmaster. Not sure if the NY shows are some of those, but if they're not on ticketmaster I'd assume so.
Check the venue's website.

I'm not even in New York. I'm all the way in Florida so I've been beggining a couple of my friends to get up off their asses Saturday and try to hook me up!
 
If anyone else here was planning on going to Chicago, I have like a system of 7(8 counting me) people all trying to just get 1 ticket for me.
So if we end up with any extras I could hook you up.
