New Trailer for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2

She Hulk on DS makes me sad.
Deal with it! ;b

You don't play any games with me. Let me know what system you get this for. We can tussle and bring Scoot along for the ride! It's an RPG. He has to! He can steal our loot like old times!

I want a game that lets me kill Spiderman. I hope I can kill Spiderman in this game.

Me too! I prefer Spider-Man, the far superior original! I'll try the demo, hope it's good.

Ben Grimm was in France during this whole thing. I object!

Ultimate alliance series is on a different earth than 616. :lol loop holes yay. :D

I am thinking about getting this... Do i have to play the first or the story is too shitty to matter?

No, the story will be explained as you play. You'd get more enjoyment if you read the comics but they're only loosely related.

One more week, so excited. :D

Any new fun features that will makes this differ/superior to the original?
Because the first one felt a bit shallow, but i DO like these kind of games so hopeing for something fresh.

Off the top of my head for 360/PS3 (everything I've seen about the Wii version is garbage since VV/Activision handed it off to another developer)

- Fusions are the huge one; going to be a lot of fun co-ordinating these with friends
- Better online play (multiple people on one console can play with others over online)
- AI takes over your character while choosing skills in multiplayer play so you don't hold up the game for everyone like in the first
- Ability to swap characters in and out at any time without having to go to save points
- Chat options with NPC's affect Team Boosts you gain
- Equipment seems to be gone and replaced with the boost system as well
- Abilities when putting in points also upgrade them; this was done to an extent in the first one but it seems to be more so in this game. ex. upgrading gambits staff swing will pop enemies up in the air
- More enemies on screen at a time
- Replayability; You choose a side during the civil war and you gain abilities as you level up that maybe only specific to that side, same with costumes
- Only one alt costume per character, but costumes are more than just a reskin in this one as they are actually completely new models with more detail
- DLC is not an afterthought like with the first one, they have said they are already working on DLC packs so lets hope for lots of them. IMO I think one of the first DLC packs we'll see is the Wii/PS2 and DS exclusives for 360/PS3.
- More difficulty modes
Fan Service (info on that here: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=22574 ):
- Audio logs which provide backstory to the secret war and civil war: "Numerous audio logs provide critical pieces of the backstory, while hundreds of dossiers provide information on every conceivable topic, ranging from organizations to locations to characters."
- Trivia is returning and is now multiplayer :D
- Unlockable concept art is returning

edit: oh and here's a video of the Wii version which will show you how disappointing it is, it looks worse than MUA1 on Wii and it pretty much reuses all the assets of the first one. N-Space really dropped the ball on the Wii version :

Have to say, the playable roster in MUA1 was superior. Did we really need all
or any
of the Fantastic Four again? Dagger being present is awesome...but then sucks that she's only an NPC. No Spider-Woman, no Moonknight, no Nightcrawler, no Ghost Rider. And once again Emma Frost is completely ignored.

I'm really hoping a nice 8-character DLC will show up in this one as well. Of course, they'll probably just start with giving us the characters from the other versions.

I don't mean to sound so negative, but the closer this comes to release, the more worried I get that it'll be a disappointment. There really hasn't been much said about fan service in this, when the first was bursting with it. The covers, the backstory missions, the environments, the trivia games. Heck, one of the best features was each character having those four different costumes, giving practically a 'history' of the character design. Now every character only has a single alternate costume...which makes me worry about the other elements.

Not sure about the whole detail thing...this is Iceman's alternate, and those legs/boots/straps look anything but detailed. Yeah, it's not a reskin, as it has a few minor model changes, but that type of stuff was in the first one as well.

That reminds me of some points I'll add to my post above.

Woah, great list there mate. Looks to be something at least worh looking into.
Judging from the videos. gameplay looks alot better, and co-op is probably where it shines the most.
Hope they didn't throw away all the rpg/loot aspects of the game.

There's a whole bunch of changes I'm forgetting, I've been following this game since last year. :lol The core gameplay is pretty much the same with combat, but the majority of changes and tweaks they've done have got me very excited.

Pretty much if you remotely liked the first one, then keep this one on your radar. It's at least worth a rental for the non-comic book fan. As for myself, I maxed out all the achievements on the first and still play it tons with friends so I'm psyched for this. Especially the multiplayer trivia :lol

edit: I think they did remove the loot aspect and replaced it with single boosts you can equip, from what I remember it's pretty much the same system just they changed it from equipment to boosts. Not sure how it worked though.

So why not on PC this time around?

I really like many mods from community like the first one :D

easily we'll get a lot of alternative costumes :lol IMO

urrgh.. that definetly puts the PS3/360 version in a better light.
The new camera really helps alot.

Hm, I see. for better or for worse remains to be seen then.

The strategy guide goes on sale in many places later today so more info will probably be released on the whole boosts/equipment thing as well as the last character to be revealed. So hopefully we'll know soon. :D

Have to agree. The roster is pretty bad. Tired of the Fantastic Four love they keep giving in Marvel games. I feel like they're about to nickel and dime us with alt costumes. I realize the models are more detailed than the past ones, but it feels like a big step back. We used to get 4-8 (more than 4 in XML) costumes per character. The roster is roughly the same size, just with more unknowns. Seems like a lot of things are being scaled back in general to improve the visuals.

Ok, I got the game earlier from my local mom n pop shop. Gamertag is Namtars Finest if you don't believe it.

Ok, so the first thing I will say is how much better looking it is than the first. The camera is much closer, the detail level much higher, and the effects and sound is much better as well. Even after watching HD trailers and the first 12 minute thing, I wasn't prepared for how good it would look right in front of me.

Another goodie, the physics system the game has is actually very well done. For instance, being able to toss a car, it rips in half, you can still pick up the half of the car or the door that fell off an use it more an more. Sometimes, after a huge knockback attack, the enemies have solid ragdolls and will roll and get caught up on the environment and the debris and it adds a lot to the fun factor.

Lastly, the game has a solid presentation, from the slick menus to the level up screen, its very well done and quick, and in practice the quick power up menu is amazing. This ties in with the voice acting, so far, love it. The characters talk much more while you are playing, and so far, I haven't heard any annoying/repeat lines, so bravo on that end.

The only two negatives. First, the cg, is nowhere near as good as the first game. HOWEVER, after playing, you notice they used most of the in game assets for the cg models, and on the flip-side, the actual in-game cut-scenes are much better animated and polished. Same goes for the set pieces that happen while you are playing. Much more epic all-around.

The second issue is the close camera makes it harder to rotate it around. It is perfect for just playing the game, but if you want to go look for secrets you might have to run blind for a bit before it adjusts, so far, it hasn't been too big of an issue.

Last thing I'll say is because of the enhanced graphics and the close camera, the boss fights are much more fun, It's much easier to dodge and block and avoid attacks due to the good frame-rate and the nice detailed effects from the powers. Will be playing more later, so feel free to ask questions. Install size is 6.6 gigs btw.

As far as I'm concerned, the game is major suckage just based on the character roster. That super powerful final secret unlockable character they've been teasing? Nick Fury. Seriously. No Nova, no Quasar, no Captain Marvel, no Asgardian god, hell ... no Hercules or Ares ... Nick fucking Fury -- as a freaking cyborg:

It super-annoys me how they've completely ignored the galactic side of Marvel. I mean, the whole roster is shabby. Who wouldn't have rather had all the famous characters as NPCs and been able to play as lesser-known but far more entertaining ones?

Am I the only one who prefers the look of the first MUA over this one? Especially the cutscenes...the cgi scenes in the first game were gorgeous, but I haven't seen anything like that for the sequel so far.

I'm going to be getting the game when it comes out on Wednesday, anyone who wants to do 4 player co-op on the 360 can add me, GT: QVT

I'll probably just end up being Jean Grey for the entire thing, again.

That's it!? Makes no sense. Would rather have 616 and Ultimate Fury.

This game's visuals belong in last gen. I'm dumbfounded as I play. Bored in the middle of the introductory mission...but I suppose actually getting to the Civil War storyline and playing some multiplayer will make it enjoyable. Sort of. :(

This video of actual gameplay got me very excited a little while ago. I loved the first one and the previous X-Men games, but seeing the camera get low, the crazy destruction, all the objects flying around, so many more enemies and lighting effects all at a smooth frame-rate...good stuff.

I LOVE the new lower gameplay cam and the updates they did to the engine. its like a whole new game!

OK, been playing this for a few days...as a fan of the first, I'm going to list a few things I haven't taken to. I'm not saying I don't like the game..I actually do...but I do want people to be aware of what to expect.

1. Simplified powers/character builds. In the first, a standard character would have 8 powers to themselves. 5 attack powers, 2 buff/debuff powers, 1 super power. Limiting the player to only carrying 3 of those at a time (not counting the super) meant the choices you made as you developed the character actually mattered.
Now every character gets 4 attack powers (start with two, unlok the next at level 5, and the last at level 10) two passive buffs (two sets of two, actually, but only one active, depending if you go pro reg or anti) and the super power is now replaced with the fusion attacks. Basiclaly, this means that my level 15 Spiderman will be pretty much identical to everyone else's. You can spend points strengthening the four attack moves, but you can, at any time, reshuffle those points around. I really don't feel like it matters what I do when leveling up characters anymore.

2. Fusion power repetition. Yes, the super powers in the first one had some redrawn repeats, but they all still felt unique to the characters. Fusions, on the other hand, just don't carry the same touch. It feels like they wanted to do a different fusion for every pairing, came up with 6 or 7 of them, and then decided to copy-paste across the rest of the pairings and call it a day.

3. Cutting the character roster in half. OK, I'm not thrilled with the roster to begin with, but know that depending on which side you take in the civil war, your team selection becomes limited. You want Cage, Reed, Cap, and Songbird on the same team? Too bad. You want to resist the Registration Act and use Iron Fist, Stark, Deadpool, and Warbird? Not going to happen. I understand that they needed to have the story happen, and that certain Heroes had to fall on certain sides, but would have been better to just make those key players NPC's...

4. Lack of character-specific content/fanservice. Along with the removal of the character-defining super moves, the lack of alternate costumes (and their buffs) and lack of character-specific sim-missions and lack of things like comic book covers and having all the characters hanging around HQ just makes the game feel a bit more bland.

5. Really, really minor thing, but I don't like the new team selection screen. Oh, the menus are clean, styled incredibly well, and very slick, but I liked seeing all the heroes standing there, ready for action, and choosing your four to come out up front (or less than four, which can't happen now).

6. Voices. Some are good...some are OK...Thor's is terrible. Most were better in the first

7. Locations. Can't say this for sure yet, as I haven't seen everywhere, but I preferred the iconic Marvel locations. Mandarin's Castle, Arcade's Fun Fair, Asgard...haven't seen too many of those yet.

Again, I am liking the game, but it just doesn't compare well to MUA1.....yet. A lot of these things are pretty minor, like the fanservice, but I do think people should be aware of some of them before playing.

Also, no Official thread for this one?

edit: one more minor annoyance....you can no longer move the camera in and out, just swing it left and right.

Sucks that Nova's not in. Him being there could have been a a cool way to tie it to Annihilation, which would have been very cool since it was going on at the same time as Civil War (which there's also a "What If?" book out there for).
