· EA’s ‘FIFA Street’ enjoys a healthy Easter with all 3 formats (PS2/XB/GC) enjoying a rise in sales and becomes No1 on this Chart in its third week of release. Sony’s ‘Gran Turismo 4’ (PS2) managed 2 straight weeks at No1 but is down to No2 for it’s third week on sale (although still No1 on PS2 Full Price), followed at No3 again by Ubisoft’s big new release from last week, ‘Brothers In Arms: Road To Hill 30’ (PS2/XB/PC). This week’s highest new entry at No4 is EA’s ‘Timesplitters: Future Perfect’ (PS2/XB/GC), developed by British studio Free Radical Design. The astute amongst you will have remembered that ‘Timesplitters’ and ‘Timesplitters 2’ were published by Eidos, but Free Radical announced a switch of publishers back in January 2004.

Also new and debuting right behind at No5 is Capcom’s ‘Devil May Cry 3: Dantes’s Awakening’ for PS2. EA’s ‘Rugby 2005’ enjoys a healthy second week, up 4 places to No6 (PS2/XB/PC). Eidos are down 3 places to No7 with the second week of ‘Championship Manager 2005’ on PC, whilst Konami drop 2 places to No8 with ‘Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater’ (PS2). Nintendo’s ‘Super Mario 64 DS’ at No9 flies the flag for DS as the lone title within the Top 10 (down one place from last week), whilst EA’s PC ‘The Sims 2: University’ takes the last of the top 10 positions, down 3 places from last week. The last of the new entries this week is THQ’s ‘The Punisher’ (PS2/XB/PC) debuting at No14. Capcom’s Gamecube ‘Resident Evil 4’ debuted at No5 last week but now drops to No19 in this Chart, although retains top spot on the Gamecube Full Price Chart.

RE4 was out of stock in a LOT of shops. My friend couldnt find it anywhere where he lives and I ended up lending him my US import copy.

It's been sold out all over the country so it's sold as much as they expected. GC numbers just can't compete with eveything else in the UK. Besides, anyone with sense would have got a US/JPN Cube or a Freeloader long ago instead of waiting for more expensive PAL releases, i'm sure that took a hit to the sales also.

It is actually sold out as far as i can tell, GAME dont seem to know when they'll get any more either.

it would be interesting to see what RE4 is doing in other PAL countries
I know it was N°2 for its first week in France( and it was only one day of sales)

#5 - Devil May Cry 3

Up there with the big boys, the UK has good taste. Capcom still wins! Then again, it looks like Resident Evil 4 was in the same position the week before...

They should put a "BEST SELLER!" sticker on the front of the box. That will make people buy it.

As long as Sonic Heroes is on that chart the UK will always suck.

You obviously missing something:

1 FIFA Street
23 Pro Evolution Soccer 4
26 FIFA 2005

UKers should be ashamed. I think their casual gamers might be worse than the US ones (!!!).

If the "Resident Evil 4 is sold out" theory is correct then the UK Gamecube software market must be in bad shape since it still managed to be #1 on the Gamecube chart.

As others mention Capcom ridiculously undershipped RE4. It was in short supply on launch day, which must have affected its position in last weeks chart, I can't remember the last time that happened. Oddly, the one place where RE4 seemed plentiful this week was Gamestation who had an exclusive special edition boxed edition.

Also saw plenty of sold out signs for FIFA Street and even MGS3 was non-existant in the Game stores I visited last Friday (luckily back in-stock today just before the 4 for 1 trade-in offer expires).

At least it isn't Norton Antivirus suite or a PSX game. I think UKers might be moving in the right direction.

well this is chav nation. Casuals eat the shit that comes out of EA's ass, as long as it has a cool ad which I'd say 90% of EA games do over here. I've seen ONE resi4 ad at like 1am. I usually see the shitty Fifa Street one once a day at least

So both Halos are gone?

And speaking of Resident Evil 4, I was shocked to see a commercial for it on Swedish television, even more so on a reasonably big channel (Kanal Fem) which I've rarely seen videogame commercials on before.

COuld this have something to do with how Soccer (Football) is alot more popular in Europe than in America?

... Anyone?

I don't care how popular soccer is, it's still sad to see FIFA Street top any charts. Don't they read reviews? At least Madden scores high each year.

Poor RE4, it's the best game released this year, I hope it picks up some steam.

How did it bomb? :lol

The game debuted at #5 and is still on the charts in the UK. Does anybody even remember the last Cube game to last this long on the UK chart? I think it was Double Dash....

If the game is doing well in the UK you know its doing even better in the other European countries so I wouldn't call RE4 a bomb for Europe. Now Japan that's another issue.
