New Uncharted screens and movies

AMEN! They need to revisit Jak & Daxter and go pure platforming like the first one. Amazing control, huge levels and clever level designs.

Sony need a pure platformer like Mario 64 or Galaxy. No futuristic weapons, and futuristic landscapes, just imaginative worlds filled to the brim with good platforming and enemies to stump on.
Find someone else to do it :p I want Uncharted.

this game looks so good once my pants grew arms and pulled themselves down and then my penis grew arms and masterbated itself

then i saved the president,, was a cool day

nah J & D actually had a story and premise...pure platforming bores me, but I enjoy the adventurous feel the Jak games had...I appreciate mario galaxy, but I much prefer the adventure platforming style..>I prefer some sort of context..mario games are fun, but they have zero emphasis on premise

No... Jumping on enemies heads is old, rotting in the ground-gen... Maybe they could make something for PSN like that though, but I don't want Insomniac, ND, or Sucker Punch wasting their talents/resources on that stuff... Besides, Ratchet already is in my book platformer of the year... And we didn't see too much of the game yet, 60/40 Action/Platforming is what they said before it contains, and that's a nice non-boring mix of gaming right there...

heh, as much as I enjoyed the demo of ratchet and am buying it day one...I am a much bigger fan of Jak...I felt the graphics, character and adventuring aspects were superior in the ND series....Yeah, I can understand a different approach to taking down foes etc...but I want an imaginitive adventure game in that mold again

They need to stick to Uncharted.
I'm a bigger Resistance fan than I am Ratchet and I'm pretty sure I will prefer Uncharted over Jak.

Why would you say this?
Don't single out a line like that in my posts and act as if it's the only thing I said. It was a bit of a joke aimed at the irony of talking up infinite possibilities yet falling back on a very well-trodden game mechanic like the traditional boss fight.

But I went on to say basically the same thing you said in the rest of your response to me: that a boss fight could still occur in a less traditional way. Significant encounters with major antagonists in the game could fill the same role.

You're right. My bad.

i could be wrong, but i think we've been shooting enemies to kill them for longer than we've been jumping on their heads.

anyways, i finally pre-ordered this last night. i had seen enough to convince me that i didn't need to wait for reviews.

i can take and leave boss fights. i'd rather them done right or not at all. RE4, and the Prime and GOW series have awesome boss fights (apart from the last one in GOW but i digress), but Halo 2 was worse for them.

it's definately not a deal breaker, but i'm not automatically enamoured by seeing a big enemy. i'm enamoured if it's an interesting and challenging fight, but if they just have a bunch of hard to dodge attacks and you just have to shoot them until they die... no thanks.

Nice to see you're finally on board.

God of War, Shadow of the Colossus, and Zelda say Get out.

God of War proves my point exactly. Worst bosses ever (until I got Heavenly Sword, ye gods). Zelda's all suck too. In SOTC they weren't really bosses so they don't count. Bosses by definition are something unusual or special; in SOTC they're just the enemies.

They need to make a new platformer. Don't underestimate the awesomeness of pure platformers

I don't mind another platformer, although Uncharted already has platforming, I would like to see another new IP from them though, something along the lines of Jak but a new story, not sure if they would be up to doing two new IPs in one gen though.

What? Seriously what? what? what? are you talking about!

:lol

Well, the bosses are lame. So there's that. But then they get QTE sequences on top of them. The two worst gaming conventions, combined into one unholy ubersuck.

Sounds like you don't like bosses in general.

I think Uncharted could be better with bosses, but its lack thereof won't prevent it from being an amazing game.

They said a lot of people didn't want to move away from cartoony stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if there were those in Naughty Dog with ideas already brewed

No in SOTC they are the levels themselves. The rest of world is just a lobby.

God of War has had some of the most memorable bosses I have ever played against. Both 1 and 2.

As far as Uncharted not having any, that's fine by me.

You're a crazy mo fo.

I'd say each Collossi is a different boss. The doves were the enemies.

This is what I want from Uncharted instead of boss fights, it's all about the setup. ^.^ Perpahs a boulder reference from the first Indy movie thrown into the mix

Which people don't wanna move away from cartoony stuff? I wanna know!!!

I think they will eventually go with a cartoony game to complement the more realistic Uncharted but I'm not sure I want them to take their focus on Uncharted because it's just starting and they really need to nail it first and make it great.

You want this to develop into another Sony series with a severe case on sequelitis? I hope they take a break with something else after Uncharted

Bosses with QTE's annoy me.

Same here, I'm always so focussed on pressing the right buttons that I don't notice the action on the background.
I actually think it's more fun to watch someone else do QTE.

they still need to fix the a.i. afaik.

it was pretty bad during the 1up segment with elena just standing there in the doorway doing nothing, while the enemies seemed to ignore her at first.

And what recent sequals of Sony franchises have had issues? The only one I can think of is Socom, and that's the exception, not the rule. Other than that, Killzone had a great sequal in the form of Liberation and 2 is looking even better. God of War 2 was all sorts of awesome. The new Ratchet and Clank seems to have turned out wonderfully. With the extra development time that it takes to make games this generation, I would hope Naughty Dog is building a new Uncharted instead of making a sequal to a critically acclaimed but mediocre selling series/building something entirely new from scratch.

Jak series, mediocre selling ??

From what I heard (correct me if I'm wrong :) ) the first in the series was the best selling at 1.7 million total, which is less than Resistance has done, while it was released on the selling-like-hotcakes PS2. I would call those mediocre sales.

They all do, they were rolling out a new Ratchet, Jak and Sly every year during PS2. And God of War is following that trend, with GoW on PSP set to release early next year. They might still be good, but I'd prefer they let their franchises have some breathing room

I'd just prefer they'd let it have a year or two off before they work on a new sequel, when I'm raring for a new one - rather than it being the next Jak
