New VF5 Location Test in Japan (where else?)

maybe i am just missing it but it doesnt seem like they get wet....i mean Jacky's spikes dont even get messed up?

Their clothing definitely gets wet. I was playing last night against a Kage and I noticed this straight away. For some costumes (Goh 2P, Kage 2P) you don't notice it because their outfits are made of leather though.

Design-wise, I think Brad is the most improved looking character to translate from VF4e/FT to VF5.
In VF4evo, he came across as extremely generic and average looking and lame.

Now in VF5, he gained a truck load of charisma, his facial expressions are improved, and his added cockyness to his lines make him actually more interesting then before. Got to love the high knee win pose.

I'm curious to see Shun's raft stage and a fight including Aoi and Lei-Fei.

wow thats pretty awesome i just saw the raft video and i hope more stages are like that.

Are there any stages like the desert stage from VF3?

No, there isn't any sad or dessert stage. There is a muddy water stage though which you could see in the earlier videos that I've posted up.

However, here is a new snow stage and it's beautiful - a lovely sunset with the snow glowing in the sun setting sky. It looks like its situated up on the snowy mountain top in Canada so I believe this is Wolf's new stage but do not quote me on that:

JEFFREY vs LION

i meant is there any stage that goes on forever? i loved the desert stage cause of that.

Sorry that's what I meant. There aren't any Sand, Desert or stages that last forever. The biggest reason was because when it comes to those stages people had an awful habit of hitting and running, but in a ring the fighters has no choice but to fight. VF is all about the fight.

ah ic yea that makes alot of sense.

I got a great idea for VF that i hope someone would give to AM2 pronto!

You got snow and water in the game that appears to be 6 inches in depth or more, it is nice to see them interacting with your movements but wouldn't it be good to use them against your opponent? Let me explain.

In fighting anything goes, so how about fighting dirty? Imagine this: Akira vs Jacky in the muddy water stage. Jacky inserts a command (or simply press the start button) and he kicks the water in akira's face. If Akira blocks the water then nothing happens and Jacky would be at an disadvantage, but if Akira gets blinded by the water then Akira has to shake (waggle the joystick) himself out of it - waggling speed as always is essential for faster recovery times. This move does not take any energy from you if you get hit, but it does opens up another doorways in possibilities. Failure for non-successful dirty-play are punishinable by nasty energy bar damage opportunity. This move can work with Snow and water only (haven't seen any dirt stages).

What do you think? Great eh? That's great interaction - use your imagination.

I didnt get to play vf this weekend due to a stupid trip to the tokyo tower. i will play next week though.

On the one hand that is an interesting idea. On the other I think it might add too much complification to the VF experience, which while deep, is also quite streamlined.

But I've been thinking lately that maybe Sega-AM2 (or whatever is left of them) need to resurrect the Fighting Vipers series or start a new series to use as a test bed for things like increased enviroment interaction, to progress the undulating arenas they played around with for VF3 but have subsequently abandoned and maybe, just maybe, use as a testing ground for online play. A game that isn't as precise and demanding as VF. I think a series with a clean slate would be beneficial in that regard because it wouldn't come with prior expectations and demands from players to be a certain way.

This game is so damn hot, its ridiculous.

Also love the fact that the music is reverting back to its original style

Edit. I just watched the Brad Vs Sarah vid. Welcome to the Brad show! :lol My homeboy brad took a good turn in style! His Muay Thai stance is more distinct, he doesnt sound like a dork, he seems quicker, more flare. Damn.

Yup, but now with a touch of Soul Calibur. ;) I hated VF4's butt rock.

EDIT: OH MY GOD. IT'S WOLF'S VF2 STAGE IN HIGH DEF GLORY! :D

Ah. I'd take it that you've just watched the Canada snow stage?

Why is GameTrailers listing this as a Xbox360 game? Have any official announcements been made or does GameTrailers know something we don't?

No official announcements yet. I wish it would be a PS3 launch title though. An online mode integrated with VFnet would also be kind of nice. :p

If I was M$ Japan, I would give $2million to SEGA to make this title an limited time exclusive X360 title and to also announce that it will be an arcade perfect conversion. That is what I would do!

I think I need to go on a media blackout for this game.

Hehe! I think you shouldn't. Thanks to VF-NET you would be able to see the possibilities with this game with respect to gameplay and everyone needs that sort of exposure so they can clearly see how far they would need to go in improving themselves. That's the beauty of the game. If this was DOA4 then of course you should go on a media blackout; a game that lack cake-filling but got plenty of icing will soon grow stale to be eaten again for the main cake is not good enough.

the 360 rumours date back since the 1st teasers of After Burner Climax and VF5 where first shown (along with a Sonic The Hedgehog next gen teaser), alot of sites did too much speculation and not enough fact checks,, alot of sites have VF5 slated for 360 but without any officiality or any credible release dates.

Sonic The Hedgehog is officially slated for both 360 and PS3 and alot of magazines and sites see fit too speculate that anything Sega does will go multi-platorm for next gen.
Too premature.

This reminds me of the 1st year of the Gamecube when some magazines speculated of having Tekken to be GC bound, just because Namco announced their 3rd party support for the GC. We know what happened after that.

The only complication would be is the involvement of the start button, but this is really no more complicated than performing a shoulder-barge with Akira. But thinking this further, I do not want this game to become a fireball competition, but it is still something to think about none the less.

Well, if such enviornment interactivity was to be used it should be combined with a regular move, or you might perform it after you did some specific move. If such things can be done with the press of a button it might turn out to be very annoying!

Edit: Can someone tell me what stats are displayed inbetween each round? I can make out some % number.
As with every VF it looks better and better the more often I see it. I hope I will be able to enjoy it on an arcade machine somtime... (not very likely here in good old germany). The only VF I ever played in an arcade was 3, and I had to travel 200 kilometers to get there - but it was worth it! ^.^

the multihit dragon punch aerial "rave" type move was in FT and that's exactly what that is. It's Like doing 4 hitthrows in a row. Was pretty hard to do ( a guy on vf made a flash trainer for it where you input the keystrokes with a replay of it and the replay would go all the way through if you hit the buttons at the specified time. I hope it's still hard to to in VF5 and not some canned combo.

Are there you send it links for the monkey girl? Pleaaaaase!

OMG Akira Vs Jacky is incredible. Akira's hits have the best sound fx ever.

Eileen vs Kage ^^

for a new character, Eileen brings that new character coolness feel like back when VF2 introduced Shun and Lion to us. Same goes for El Blaze

newkage.gif

I really liked Kage's VF3 costume. I hope they put it in this game somehow.

And is Lei Fei still in the game? I haven't seen any media with him in it. He was one of my favourite characters in VF4.

I just saw the Aoi VS Kage video. OMG! Did you see Kage's new throw?! DAMN, Aoi has turned NASTY!!!!! DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!

Seriously guys, I haven't been this excited for VF since VF3! I'm so exciteD!!!! I MUST GO JAPAN!!!!!!

Holy freaking shit those vids are awesome.

I've literally got nothing to complain about save for the bridge on Shun's stage not casting a large shadow. I'm sure it'll be fixed for release.

Brilliant character models - check
Stunning backdrops - check
Superb animation - check
Eye-popping lighting - check
Kick arse soundtrack - check
Best 3D gameplay on the market - (the safe bet is) check

Just watched Aoi's Stage for the very first time. Wow! My jaw literally hit the floor. That's so incredible!

The atmosphere is simply perfect. The colours are so vibrant and the design so very beautiful.
This will without a doubt be the game that gets me into next generation again the day it's released. (If I can hold out that long ;) )

Sega might not release the same number of great games they once did in the Saturn/DreamCast days but when they finally release something like this. Damn. :)

OMG!!! HOLY CRAPPP!!!! LEI FEI IS INCREDIBLE! Though it was damn sad that the person that was using Lei Fei wasn't very good but maN! I can see the possibilities with what he can do!

MY GOSH! DID YOU SEE HIS ENTRANCE? ITS THE BEST ONE YET!!!!!!!

I WISHED "DANCING REI" WAS PLAYING LEI FEI IN THIS VIDEO!!! DAMN!!!!! He IS Lei Fei!
