New Vita owner here, any tips or advice?

I mean what else is on the Vita that's so much better? FFX and Persona 4? Sure, but I killed those games already with multiple playthroughs on other systems already. Yes it's cool they are portable, but I'd rather spend time playing new games.

Ys? Yeah I bought a Vita for it and it was pretty solid.

Tales of Hearts? Sure. Got it. It's a Tales game, which means it's a pretty run of the mill bland game.

Demon Gaze? Yeah no. Dungeon crawlers are boring to me and I doubt the subject material is going to mix better then Neptunnia.

Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars? How about no.

Mind Zero? Yeah, low rent Persona dosen't appeal to me.

I mean what's so much better then Neptunnia that's on the system. All of it's jrpgs hover around that c-tier area and/or are filled with fan service. I'm not sure how Neptunnia is bottom of the barrel compared to the rest of the system. Pretty much all of the jrpg library on the system is low budget super niche games.

I'm not saying it has a strong jrpg library, because it doesn't, at least not in terms of localized games. I'm just saying Neptunia is ass. I also primarily bought my vita for Ys Celceta.

Picked up a slim Borderlands 2 bundle today. Is Borderlands 2 worth keeping?

Played BL1 on PC and liked it but I hear the performance of the Vita game is kinda sketchy though. I doubt I could get much for the game if I sold it though.

I got the same bundle in October. I ended up giving the game to a friend as I wanted the vita for RPG's and indies.

I passed on it and was glad I did because of performance issues.

Welcome to the nightmare of quirky games and strange ass niche Japanese imports.

Then again, I'm also having a hard time getting into Danganropa because every character(even the main character) is every cliched and very boring anime character to the 10th degree and so I dislike every character. Then again, I guess that is kind of the point, but the main character is so boring that he almost belongs in a Tales game. I hate reading his dialogue. Then again, maybe thats the point. Maybe I just don't like anime. I also wish the game wasn't long.

If you don't mind me asking, how far are you?

Danganronpa is an interesting beast in that it utilizes anime character tropes while also subverting them, showing how well they deal with a truly hopeless situation despite the less bleak outlook often associated with the works you'll find them in.

If you're still not into it by the end of the first trial, I'd just drop the game.

I forgot about Danganronpa. I think I'm going to have to buy the first one sometime and give it a shot. It sounds really interesting, but I'm worried it may be too Japanese for me.

I'm too cheap right now

I wholeheartedly recommend Tearaway. It's usually not very expensive too.
Also - Guacamelee is by the same dev as Tales from space :)

Just got myself a Vita from Ebay, sort of been wanting one for sometime but just couldn't bring myself to get one at full price, only started to seriously consider getting one once i got my PS4 & joined PSN+ i have asked before about a Vita but went for a Xbone instead, i also have a WiiU & 3DS.

I have been putting all the Vita games that come up for free on PSN+ so i will have a fair few games to download, i have ordered a 64GB Vita card as well.

Are there any tips or does anyone have any advice for a new Vita owner, are there any hidden gems i should get or keep a eye out for, i have not kept tabs on the Vita you see.

This is the Vita i picked up http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-PlayStation-Vita-with-5-Games-/111602151447 a little bit more than i wanted to spend, one went for £68 this morning with just one game, but it was the later version, the one i have got is the OLED screen one PCH-1003

Buy a big memory card. Download every PS+ game. Spend more hours trying to decide which to play then time actually playing them.

<--- I earned this username.

I checked out this niche little indie game called Minecraft last night. Just another dime a dozen survival/crafting game clone really. The store page said FREE though so I gave it a shot.

0/10. Probably won't stay up until 3am again playing it in bed. Probably.

Crono Trigger PS1 classic game is a must, and FFX remastered is cool. I haven't played it yet, but Persona 4 is highly regarded. There a dozen or so amazing Indie titles like Rogue Legacy, Hotline Miami, or Guacamole that also play great on the Vita

Virtua tennis is criminally underlooked. One of the best sports games money can buy. Also, don't be afraid to buy PSP games, they are super cheap, look great and controls better on the Vita.

Also stellar Indie library. Terraria, Steamworld Dig, Minecraft, Rogue Legacy, unfinished swan, binding of isaac and more. Ignore the haters. These are great.

Also, NA PSN has a good sale on. Take advantage of it immediately if you don't mind using an NA account.

Thanks for the thought/recommendations.

I forgot to mention this, but I owned Tearaway. I received it for free, but never got around to playing it because of it being on Vita and my interest lacking in the system. So, I ended up trading it when I was able to get $25 for it recently.

That said, I'm looking forward to the next-gen version, and that's why I felt comfortable trading it.

I played Guacamelee on console, too.

:( Without even trying it?

It really is something special.
And while I'm ready to double dip on PS4 - I am doubtful that it'll be as good.

I play far too many games and just kept it for a rainy day, but never got around to playing it. When I heard about the next-gen version and saw that I could include Tearaway in a trade for 3/$75, I took it.

I'll make a point of playing it on a big screen, and am anticipating it.

My problem is that I'm not a big handheld gamer. I much prefer gaming on a TV. And since I don't take handhelds anywhere with me, or find their games as interesting 95% of the time, I usually opt for something else.

Fair enough. I have a long train commute to work so my Vita easily gets more attention than any other console.

That makes complete sense. I'd probably push past my OCD rules and do that if I commuted, but I work from home. I don't go out a lot, either, and am usually driving.

I also get fearful while using handhelds, because the handheld is the system and the controller. It's not just the controller, which can be replaced for a not-so-high price.

Nice thread for my question. New Vita owner here as well. Is it possible to buy exclusive games from the Japanese store? How?

-Borderlands 2 (It's honestly amazing they got this running on Vita!)
-Street Fighter X Tekken (THE best fighter for the handheld. So much content too.)
-LittleBigPlanet Vita (It's basically LBP2 with more features. LBP3 sucks, so this is the superior LBP as of now.)
-Silent Hill: Book of Memories (Want a dungeon crawler? This one is surprisingly addictive.)
-Playstation All Stars (It's for $9 right now, and it's so much fun honestly.)

Yes, but the Vita only allows one account per memory card. You'd to make a Japanese PSN account, and use another memory card to buy content from the Japanese PSN.

It has arrived :D

However the 64GB card i ordered has not :(

I have been in the PSN shop & just got the 20th theme & had a quick play of Uncharted i don't want to do much until i get the 64GB card, i have a question though, how do i find the games i have 'purchased' via PSN+ on that Vita store so i can download them?

^^ PS Store -> ... bubble -> Download List

and most important of all...

TEARAWAY

Thanks for the info, i have found the list now, however i am getting a error code of:

Np-2245-3 saying the connection has timed out

I have googled it & lots are having the same error :@

By trading in Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Uncharted: Golden Abyss & Assassins Creed III: Liberation which i got with my Vita i can get £17.50 back, i already have NFSMW & Uncharted on my PSN+ free downloads list & i have no interest in, so the Vita only cost me £69 :D so i'm going to get a £20 PSN card & spend it on Vita games :D

Does anyone have any experience ordering from an international Amazon site or just buying a non-US Vita in general? Unless I'm missing something, Amazon Germany has a really good deal on the Vita Slim 'Heroes' bundle that I'm seriously considering biting on.

I have killzone in my vita about a year and I can't be arsed to play it.

A shame. Best online FPS on any handheld to date (and with the way the industry is going, it might never be surpassed).

Single player is also enjoyable but the multiplayer is where it's at

Just got my vita and a few games. Psn is TryHardVarg86. So far loving it :) Wife and I are really digging tearaway.

I've had a vita for a long time and I let the battery die. I cannot get the thing to turn on. It charged for a long time today. Orange light was on, stayed on for a good two hours. Orange light went out, still can't get the thing to turn on.

I've tried

Power button for five seconds
Power button for 30 seconds
Power, ps, and volume up buttons
Power, ps, and R trigger buttons.
Removed memory

The charger seems to be ok, but I've also got a usb cable I've been able to charge with as well. I'm not sure what I can do. I don't have access to another vita to swap batteries or anything so I'm kinda stumped.

Edit: pulled the battery out and put it back. Works great.
