It almost feels like Universal's marketing department is sabotaging this movie.

Bland posters, nonsense taglines (unite? for what? against whom? this supposed to be the W1 story not W3, right?), and a trailer with randomly edited action shots and pumping electronic music (WTF?!).

Still planning to see this on premiere weekend, just because of Duncan Jones, but man, they're doing everything imaginable to scare people off.

This is Legendary's (and arguably Universal's, unless you count Secret Life of Pets) biggest film of the year. This is a film that needs good marketing because people are already skeptical from the get-go.

Why they didn't just put Jones and the rest of the creative team in-charge of marketing is a mystery.

Why th cgi looks so awful?

Nah. That title belongs to either Gods of Egypt or Tarzan.

Also, Source Code was pretty good. Not as good as Moon, but I think that's because Jones didn't write Source Code.

Well I think we can all be thankful that he's bringing his superb writing skills to Warcraft then. Some real inspiration dialogue in the trailers so far! :P

It looks terrible. People are blaming the marketing, but what are they supposed to do with this dialogue and in particular, that green skinned woman?

I'd be well up for seeing this - I started with the first Warcraft as a kid and played every last one of them - but every time I see the half-orc being real as opposed to the CGI orcs, and then have to contemplate a romance sub-plot between her and a human... I can't do it.

I just wanted to see noble humans genociding some filthy orcs... was that really too much to ask?

"If we do not unite to fight this enemy our world will perish"

I feel 100% comfortable saying that any movie with a line like that is not one I need to see. Bonus points for following it up almost immediately with "We fight together or we die together".

I just hope there's a meeting between the villain and hero where we get a "WE'RE NOT SO DIFFERENT YOU AND I"

Youtube compression. Here's the screenshot from 720p apple trailer;

The 3 point lighting on every character while the scene only has one light source kills me.
Especially the hairlight on the girl with the pink dress. Stormwind looks stunning though.

Something is always "perishing" in movies like this.

"Your world will perish!"
"Our world will perish!"
"My world is perishing!"
"PERISH!!!"

Also TIL electronic synths with a slow beat is dubstep.

I can't believe how terrible this movie looks. Actually, I can. Very believable.

Also the editing in that trailer was atrocious.

Like, isn't
The Burning Legion
ultimately responsible for everything in the Warcraft universe?

I think it looks OK so far. These CGI fests are usually a little jarring for me but I'm able to settle in and go with the visuals after ten to fifteen minutes. Plus it's Warcraft, I really do enjoy that universe. If the story is solid it should be OK.
